I think the stats for the Manta are:

If the Tau player fields this unit, their opponent rolls one die to represent glancing hits from all of their weapons put together. On a 6, the Manta crashes and falls onto the board, destroying everything underneath it. On any other roll, the Tau win the game.

As someone pointed out on Warseer, the Manta itself is only £725 as they included £170 of Tau models (tanks, battlesuits and drones) in with it!

from what I remember of reading about it, it has a twin-linked titan killer railgun, 3 twin-linked long barrelled ion cannons, and around 15 or so drone controlled burst cannons. Points was enough so this was your army at 2000 pts. I also want to say it has 10 structure points (could be wrong on that point though).

The Manta has been designed to have a fully working and detailed interior. The Manta has two decks: the upper deck is where you will find forty-eight seated resin Fire Warriors and six Gun Drones, overseen by a seated Tau Ethereal. They exit through doors that retract into the walls and then down to the landing zone via the hidden extendable ramp. On the lower deck are eight Tau Battlesuits, two Devilfish troop carriers and two Hammerhead battle-tanks. This whole deck drops down so the vehicles and Battlesuits can disembark and deploy rapidly. Further forward, towards the nose, four Air-Caste systems operators and two pilots control the prodigious amount of firepower that the Manta can bring to bear on the enemy. Sixteen Long-Barrelled Burst Cannon, Six Long-Barrelled Ion Cannon, Two Heavy Rail Guns, Missile Pods and battery of Seeker Missiles as well as a Networked Markerlight turret. The kit includes two Devilfish, two Hammerheads, eight Battlesuits, six Gun Drones and one Black and one White Tau decal sheet. The full rules and background for the Tau Manta can be found in Imperial Armour Volume Three: The Taros Campaign.

This kind of project wouldn't be that profitable for FW. GW does stuff like this for promotional purposes. I suspect GW will own more of these kits then the rest of the world combined

Very sexy indeed.  Infact it has to be very sexy, because it would probably cost me my very sexy wife if I ever brought it home.  So if anyone needs my painting services for this beast, let me know.  Its probably the only way I'll ever actually see one.

GW's target demographic:

Rich spoiled brat:  Daddy, daddy, I want that Manta!

Overpaid corporate executive:  Sorry, son, but Mommy's new tennis bracelet comes first.

Rich spoiled brat: I WANT IT, I WANT IT, I WANT IT!!!  And she's not my real mommy!

Overpaid corporate executive: Oh, OK, Dudley.  I'll just pad my expense account a little more.

Slutty trophy wife: I better get my tennis bracelet, pal, or you know what you're NOT getting!

This comment has made me realize just how alike the Empire and the Tau Empire are. :/

I'm never buying this.
I will eat my hat before dropping 895 pounds on one model, even if said model has an army included.

I can only imagine the amount of lung disease and hemorrhaging this resin-monster will cause...

Any fanboys who actually purchase this behemoth deserve the extension to virginity loss it implies.

Besides that, its an ok model. For such a technology wonder you would think it would be more advanced than forcing a rank of batlesuits to remain stuck amidst a large combustible belly of hammerheads, that are not only packed too tight but are made to back out in the heat of battle. It should have been so much more.

That's because GW designers are making toys and have no real understanding of military vehicle design principles.

Gathering the Informations.

Aren't Tau vehicles VTOL? The Manta wouldn't have to land...it could just kick the Hammerheads/Devilfishes out for rapid deployment.

I mean we do it with Hummvees and they can't even fly
