Just curious why they release a new game every year. Can't they
just upload stats? Or do they upload stats nowadays?

Ummm... Malfred have you ever heard of the idea of "making money?" . That is precisely why they release those games every year, as it means they can do a slight graphical increase and some slight modifications to the game and then have everyone buy a new copy, it would be like if GW released a new edition of 40k every year.

And for the record i think sports games are stupid and completely worthless to the gaming industry other than to generate sales.

Oh I know that, but why do people BUY them?

Sports gaming is a HUGE segment of the vid-game industry. Sports fanatics will pay almost any amount of money to get them closer to the game. Why do you think big screen TV's always have lots of promotions around major sporting events?

If folks are willing to drop $5000-$10000 on the ultimate TV just for a Super bowl party, they certainly will drop $60 a year for the latest version of Madden.

And most people don't mind paying all that money no matter the longetivity. I can seriously get a lot of entertainment just hearing jocks at my school talk about videogames. The poooorrr pooorrr newbs.

We played Tecmo bowl and Front Page Sports for years. We only ever bought one
version of the original John Madden, EA sports hockey (the original one I think). We
got two versions of NBA street for my brother, and maybe 1 or 2 versions of basketball
games. But if the game didn't change, we didn't buy a new version.
