That's right. Sony's PlayStation 3 won't be the only next-gen console to offer 1080p support. The upcoming fall software update will enable 1080p for video and game content on the Xbox 360. How many games will actually support it, though, is another matter. [Updated!]

Interesting to notet that while most HD TV's don't support this new resolution, most monitors do. So if you've got your 360 plugged into a VGA monitor, you're good to go.

Popping up the max resolution with a software update is kinda impressive.

This makes one wonder. Resolution can be pushed by software, but ultimatly its the hardware that allows for it. While it will work, I wonder how "true" the 1080p is going to be. Are they going to be overdriving their graphic card and what are the long term effects?

Its a good thing for X-box users, but is it good for the life of the system?
