Picked it up on Wednesday, been playing it off and on since then. Highly pleased with it, but if Chaos Theory frustrated you...I'd advise against Double Agent. The Trust system makes it ALOT harder to complete the missions. Whereas in Chaos Theory if you went in guns blazing, it caused problems...not being careful ends up with a huge problem in Double Agent. Some actions(such as using NSA gadgets while in the terrorist HQ) result in an automatic complete loss of trust. All in all though--It's fun. The online is kind of buggy right now, but it seems to be the same problem GRAW had at the beginning. Only people hosting are the ones who shouldn't be playing online games period(Mostly attitude wise, but I swear there was a guy on dial-up hosting...it was that laggy). And maybe it'll get better if people stop torrenting everything...

I got the disc last night, and got some time in. The new multiplayer is quite good. I initially thought I'd feel more limited with the reduction in gear, but the action is faster paced and more intense. It's also a bit harder for the spies, which is good, because once players became really good at the spy it was hard on the merc side. The vibration sensing and outlines when moving really help. Friday night might be the best night for me this week.

A quick quesiton. Are the multiplayer achievements online only? or can you play against bots or system link or something. I can't afford gold but would still like the 1000GS. Having no gold is pretty frustrating, check out my achievements! I've got all the single player ones from the ones I've played! (well, about 99% w/o NFSMW teehee) Also, are the controls hard to master like in the demo? I found it was rather hard to run accurately due to the sensitivity of the sticks (running behind UPSILON guys etc to break necks, constantly missing crates when jumping etc) Thanks

I thought Dakka had died! All those merories gone due to all that shifty website moving business. So for 4 years I had to live without these forums.
You can imagine the look on my face when I found Dakka again on a google search the other day! |

You can score achievements just playing against bots... but I don't know if you will be able to get them all without playing real people online. I think the controls are great. Grabbing mercs is not easy, but that is by design. One of the game balance issues in earlier versions of Splinter Cell was that it was too easy for the spies to simply kill all the mercs. In this new version, it seems the spies are better off avoiding direct confrontation.

Hmm, about those multiplayer achievements, I was referring to such achievements like "play 25 missions on X map and win 15 times." Could you still get these achievements while playing offline?
