Thanks, it's a shame they went to Legends. They were very characterful.
This is my test scheme for my scouts. I want subdued and simple. Mostly just tan, black and blue with a little silver. The wings on the chest plate are black with a little gray and white highlight. There are a couple of changes I want to do, like use a brighter silver on the gun so it stands out more against the black, but this is pretty much what I want.

Thanks Jacka.
Two more scouts done. Feeling good about how they came out.
I used a "003 Pigma Micron" ink pen for the tattoo if anyone wants to try it.
I recommend doing a basic light sketch of a tattoo with soft carbon lead mechanical pencil first then going over it with ink, then a water based varnish.
They rest of the scouts are mostly done, just need a bit of finishing touches.

The armature scouts turned out pretty well, they’ll probably blend in well with the rest of the unit

Scouts are looking good.
I’ve only tried tattoos once or twice. One trick to make them look old and faded is to put a flesh glaze over them. Very daunting to do after you spent all the work on the freehand.
Although scouts probably have fresh ink.

Thanks guys, I'll keep the wash idea in mind.
Well, all 14 scouts are done. I basically have two of each weapons type plus one magnetized for options. I don't think I have the compulsion to paint 15 Sternguard, so I'll probably assemble my Jump marines instead. I also have a Gladiator Lancer to do as well as a single ATV.
Basically at this point I'm about 2/3 through painting my marines and I'll be looking at my final marine purchases this month. So possibly getting another lancer, a few more interceptors and aggressors.

It was fun doing something new for me.
I had forgotten I had these Not Blade Guard, so I may end up doing them with my Honoured of the Chapter minis.
It was a nice set of three Blade Guard with a Captain and a Lieutenant. I ended up posing the swords and shields in a pretty conservative way as the resin they're made out of is brittle. Hopefully they will be less likely to break when handling.

Thank you Youwashock.
OK, I've been spending most of my time assembling the Elector Counts, so I haven't gotten much done. I did get this little guy finished from the Spearhead Force.
Just a basic paint job. I guess a lot of players don't like the looking of them, but I like them. They are much better than those old assault bikes. I'm not sure what I'll do next.
I may play around with doing a test scheme for those destroyed walls sets I posted a while back?

This little guy has been on my painting desk for a year now, So I decided to finally paint him.
I think I'll use him with my inquisitorial henchmen. He's a Jester Fool by Ghamak and you can get one for about 4 dollars online.
I did change out his weapons for a revolver and a short sward. He has a skull face, so he could be a grounded version of one of those creepy flying babies.
Some Space marine chapters seem to use them to carry things like weapons around too.

Hey Gobert, thanks, I was looking for something different with that Jester.
I came across theses "Corrugated Plastic Sign Blanks" at Amazon https://a.co/d/cwRIPq6
They are pretty cheap. They are not made from polystyrene though, so they will not work with regular model glue.
I like the look of them and believe I can make some modern/SciFi building with them.
This is just a quick mock-up I put together to see what it will look like.
So I'm not going to make them into anything soon, as I need to finish other terrain project first.
I just though I would pass this idea along.

Sure, I still need to do a spray can test on it to see if it melts though.
If so, I can get a acrylic spray for it.
OK, this is my test paint scheme for my Rampart terrain. I have a lot of it to do, so it has to be fast. I don't want to spend six months painting it.
It came out OK. I can do better, but that will take more time I'd rather spend painting minis.
It was prayed with tan base paint and then rough sponged on a layer of yellow ochre for an old paint look.
All the base colors used over the tan was just craft store paint. Speed paint was used for details.
Then was washed with home made washes of black and brown inks. Citadel washes would have done a better job, but they're not affordable for large terrain projects.
Speed is the enemy of good.
Good is the enemy of affordable.
Gray is the enemy of everyone.

I did a paint test with an oil based spray can on that damaged building made from plastic signage and the plastic was unaffected.
Since it was primed, I did a quick paint job on it. I also down loaded a few images of wallpaper and carps to use on the interior.
You can re-scale the images and print them out to wallpaper your buildings as a quick and easy way of finishing them off.
This building came out fairly well for the little time I spent on it. I believe this could be a quick and cheap way to fill up a game board.

Agree on the tile work. Amazing.
Something about the plastic cell sheets strikes me as odd. I get that they might be the backbone of pre-fab STC buildings in the future, but I can’t mentally make the jump from real life building materials to model building. It just is a little jarring.
I wonder what it would look like if you gave the interior a brown wash to make the look like 2x4s? Also might want to stick some pipes and wires in there. If you’ve got sub-floors like that, it’s going to be full of ductwork, conduits, and the like.

Well, think of it like metal framing, but with different materials. Something like ejection molded plastic walls.
The voids in the walls filled with argon gas or even kept as a vacuum for insulation.
The whole thing built as modular pieces and then glued and bolted together at the job sight.
I did think about a few conduit pipes, but this was just a quick build.

I get exactly what you are going for. It makes a lot of sense. The logical part of my brain can see a dozen different ways that what you have built could be a practical structure in-universe. But my eye just sees it and goes “nope, looks fake” It’s like the uncanny valley. It’s close enough to look real, but just a little bit off so it triggers my suspension of disbelief.
I suspect it’s just a me thing. It does look cool and is well executed. I just am getting an odd gut check from it.

Finally got something done! These are based off the prototype I did earlier. Nothing too fancy, just basic scenery.
The yellow building is about a 3x6 inch footprint made with two walls. The White building is a 6x6 footprint made with three walls.
If I could do the white building over again I would have made each section a 3x6. It's a bit awkward reaching into the building.
I think I'm going to need a few more of the yellow size buildings and bunch of smaller ones about the size of the prototype.
There are a few small things I will go back to do like adding soot to some of the walls and maybe more random debris inside them.
I don't want to over do the debris and make it hard to place minis in them. That's it for now.
