This is mainly aimed at guys, but it may have some reference to females aswell

Have you ever gone to a cinema planning to watch one film, and then, on arrival had most of the group youve gone with say lets watch something else?
Its just the other day a group of 14 of us went to the Movies (4 guys-10 girls) planning to watch iron man, then all the girls turned round and said "lets watch Made of Honour instead"
And not wanting to be selfish/brats/stubborn/etc we kinda had to agree, so as not to be 'loners'

I just wondered if anyone else ever has the same problems, or are me and my mates just way to easy to persuade otherwise..?

Ps, bear in mind the girls were in an easy position to really make us feel some pain, being smaller and maybe a little insane

If one of them was, you should have politely told her that you have been looking forward to the movie and if they want to go off to something else thats fine but that you are sticking to original decision. Showing some spine (only once in a while) isn't always a bad thing.

Are you asking when it's appropriate to be an alpha? Only if you're already known for it or already exude the alpha "aura". Otherwise it just makes you look whiny and childish.

@ OP: Dude if you wanted to see Iron Man you shoulda just gone and seen it. Just give em something like "Well have fun but I wanna see this movie so later."

Its more that we didnt want to seem like Loners (yeh I know there were four of us) and its more fun to see things with lots of mates, well, at least with these mates it is

besides I'll go see Iron Man at another date if I can be bothered, when I wont have to get round what the girls want to see

nope, never happened to me. When I go to see a movie I was looking forward to, I ask my some of my female friends (note: not girl-friends) if they wanna come too. Altough that mght change if my "Single"-Card ever gets revoked

I could see a couple of possible mitigating circumstances.

1. You (as a group of guys) owed the girls some kind of favor.
2. You (as a group of guys) lost a bet.
3. You (etc...) were under some kind of geas or compulsion not of your own will (threats of withheld sex do NOT count here.)
4. You () stood to gain some kind of ground, SIGNIFICANT favors, etc... from subjecting yourselves.

I see none of the above, nor any other possible mitigating circumstances. If you are seriously telling us that you and a few of your good male friends caved to the capricious whims of females for no other reason than to keep from looking like a bunch of Johnny-No-Mates, whilst being in a small CROWD of mates, then you have already surrendered your man card. Apply to Johns Hopkins for sexual re-assignment at your earliest opportunity. Tell Wild Bill I said "Hi."

This is an incredibly familiar situation that seems to happen to me very frequently. It will be me the only dude amongst my sister, a few of her friends, my girlfriend (who is one of my sisters best friends), and my mother. We will pick an action movie but before we leave if one of them sees a chic flick is playing near the same time they will suggest it. HERE IS WHERE THE ADVICE COMES!

Tell them all "That movie is totally going to suck balls hard! You guys will come out of it kicking yourselves because you didn't see the totally sweet action packed laughter educing Iron Man!" if they protest all you really need to do is say, and I mean this their come backs won't be able to handle this and this response is always available, "That/it doesn't prevent that movie from being a total piece of and Iron Man will still be ing awesome."

Just be charismatic, loud, and completely/blatantly opinionated. I don't know if that works in other countries besides America though....

But if they like Iron Man or any other movie after a speech/rant like that your in, they'll eat it up every time and you'll always get to see the sweetest movies.

You lot don't know Anna though...she could probably take on and beat Khorne in a one on one fight, if he existed that is.

This has never happened to me, thankfully. All the women I hang out with have very good taste in cinema - and if they tried to get me to watch Made of Whatever, I'd have to politely decline. Then mock them mercilessly when they came out of their screen disappointed and I exit as hyper as a seven year old with a bucket of blue Smarties.

btw. Iron Man is still totally AWESOME the 2. time around

Also your first mistake was allowing yourself to be outnumbered.

I dont trust 2 of the guys in the dark, I learned that the hard way on a camping trip once. *Shudders* Also for some reason there seem to be more girls around than guys who I know for some reason, dont ask me why cos I havent a clue

dude, I saw iron man yesterday (finally! I know..) and I gotta say, I think you may have been separated from your cojones!

I got to watch it today and agree +1 on the decency of it.

Also as an aside this is Marvel studios first release.
$150 million to make and $75 million to market.

$201 million worldwide in its first 5 days of release.

This is going to set up Marvel studios for quite awhile and pretty much assures a sequel.
