Spoiler:
i think the sound was amazingly good. and i never noticed till later the movie clip they kept playing when they were going across the bridge on the train when new yourk was fine. something comes from the sky and lands in the water. then theres a voice at the end of the movie thats all static. and if played backwards it says "its still alive". and at the end did they nuke it or just drop every conventional bomb imaginable on it.

Spoiler:
Did anyone else notice at the very end after the explosion and it switches back to the footage of them on their happy day a month prior, if you watch, you can see something in the background fall from the sky and land in the ocean.

I thought the bit of audio at the end said "help me" but I couldn't really tell for sure.

I'm not sure the creature that ate Hud was big daddy, it was big, sure, but it didn't have the same face and did not seem as big. It was dropping little things, it might also have dropped a bigger, or maybe they grew.

I believe it was said that if there was a sequel it would still focus on that same event, but from a different perspective. More DoD footage I suppose.

Thanks Manny. As usual I don't have a clue. Do you have a link to the internet discussions you were referencing?

@ Manny -- Aye, that was my thought on the little dudes.

@ Ahtman -- I so missed that, well done on the film's part. I knew there was more to that then it appeared (which seems to be the gist of the movie).

@ JF -- IMDB Trivia

Haha I so need to see this again!

Spoiler:
Incredibly complex and bizarre backstory and viral marketing details (as well as more mundane character information, much of it pieced together from online clues such as their Myspace pages prior to the film's release) can be found here:

I'm not sure if I like the backstory clues as much as the mystery, but there's some neat stuff.

I thought it was excellent. A sequel would cheapen the ending 4 sure,
but I am a nerd who doesn't see enough movies like this and would like to see more!!

Powered through that link Manny, and impressed at all the backstory they hide on the Internets prior. I don't know that it really enriches much for me, but does provide a little frame story. The myspace pages I care for not much, but interesting how they dropped pretty obscure clues there that brought people around to new sites, new totally obscure things, etc.

So props to them and the people decoding the stuff, made for a neat game and cultural artifact if nothing else.

Good movie although the jumpin around thru every single scene I thought detracted from the film. The action sequences would have been fine in that style but the others IMO not as much. To Blair Witch for me.

The concept of using a hand held camera during the entire movie in order to make it more real doesn't really cut it for me. Actually it just makes me reflect upon how unrealistic it is at points that the filming character supposedly filmed the whole thing. What kills the concept for me is whenever the person filming keeps filming at moments when any person in normal life would have stopped filming. But this is a movie, you might say. True - but the very idea was to make the first person view filming to seem real. And as such, filming in a "real" way at totally unrealistic moments manages to totally spoil that, in my point of view.

Minor spoiler:
Spoiler:
For example, when the buglike creatures were chasing them in the subway - it just feels ridiculous that the filming guy first takes a reeeaally good look at the monsters before deciding that running was the smart thing to do. It it so blatantly obvious that he is filming it for the benefit of the audience, when every sane person wuold have screamed and runned like hell. Also, during the running, he keeps not only filming, but looking through the camera as well. Imho to make it more "real" the could just as well had the camera filming nothing but the blurry ground, from intense running, with the camera guy not aiming the camera at anything.

There are several more instances like tham for example when Melinda, or whatever her name was, got bitten, and the camera guy clumsily helps a little to patch her wounds - but only with one hand, because apparently it was immenssly more important to keep filming, and documenting the wounds for the audience, than it was to dress her wounds. And the guy even was in love with her for crying out loud! But noooo, I'd better film this - I have no urge whatsoever to help the girl I have a crush on when she has been seriously injured by some creepy monsters.

Nice, my thoughts too. Heston should have had a cameo in 'Legend'. Kinda like the shout out they did in Beerfest with Prochnow.

I agree with Tyfe.

Or the whole "climbing the building" part. Who, in their right mind would continue shooting with a camera when they NEED both hands to climb.

If I was filming I for sure would have turned the camera off on the dopy love scenes. Who would film let alone watch that drivel. Camera would have been broken half way thru the tunnel chase as I throw it/club one of those little beasties as I am running/fighting for my life. It was kinda cool as he keeps filming the girl getting chomped on her shoulder. (That's a real man for ya)
