Just mask requirements sent some people into fits.

Heck, my coworker and I just got told we are 'making things worse' because we're currently wearing masks. There's a non-zero chance the guy will start flipping out within the next hour.

I hate dealing with the public.

None locally that I know of. The one store I've been to does not require PoV.

To be honest, I don't know of any store period (gaming or otherwise) that requires or ever required PoV for entrance in the local area. Many if not all stores required masks at one point, but I have not been to any store that ever required PoV to enter. Some event venues have required PoV, but no stores that I'm aware of.

In my area none of my local shops (those within a 30 minute drive) did.

Two did have mask requirements (enforced at one, lip service at best at the other). And one suspended any in-store play until last summer/fall.
Both had limited occupancy for a period.
One offered online/phone ordering & curb side pickups.

A third? Is too damned small & waaay too crowded to bother walking into if you've got any health concerns.
No PoV, no mask requirement, no suspension of play (beyond the mandatory shut down period in 2020). No occupancy limit.
As a result? Judging by the continously full parking lot? They were packed with maskless MTG players sitting shoulder to shoulder 2 ft across from each other as waves of Covid washed across the area....

It indeed was.
But, if every baited comment got a similar reply, threads wouldn't last past the first page.

No, I live pretty remote. No actual game stores within 45 minutes by car. There is a card shop within 45 minutes. The closest mini related store is 2 hours away.

Didn't seem that bad to me. Sure the last bit, but mostly just statements of fact in regards to the thread's topic. There's no comparison to a post that does not at all address the topic and only offers a statement that people should behave a certain way. Bad-faith comments like this drag threads down more often than anything.

Normally all for it, but this one is a pretty clear 2 + 2 =/= 5 situation.

Well it looks like the poll finished, and the thread didn't get locked. So good job everyone, we did it. We talked about a covid related thing and no one went insane.

Now, were the results of the poll more interesting that the contents of the thread? That's the real question...

If you think this thread was a success it shows just how poor the quality of this forum has become: scroll down this page and look. Anything actually interesting either has to be locked or moderated with an incredibly heavy hand, like this thread.

Still, more bandwidth for "random historical thing I read", "Grade F jokes", and "I'm going on a trip/working out/saw a movie/like cooking".

The OT forum should be closed.

If a page of replies was deleted that is an indication of the morality of the moderators, not I. I kept an eye on this thread, there was nothing worth deleting. The only people acting in bad faith were those accusing me of such. If Dakka as a corporate entity wishes to remain viable, they should review their censorship policy. Us normal people are tired of blatant partisan censorship and anyone not willing to jump back on the bandwagon of common sense will be left behind, and we won't miss them. Dakka felt the need to delete some Texans posts, but couldn't be bothered to intervene when posters were accusing me of hidden motives? You, or other readers, may think this is making a mountain out of a molehill, but the quiet acceptance of BS in ones day to day is how you end up with laws making it illegal to question history.

I got a post deleted that just said I wasn't getting a second dose because I already had covid and the first dose gave me heart palpitations. Good job mods, you're saving the world from wrongthink

Sure and I'm fine with that rule. I'm just not sure how anything I said that got deleted was political. It seemed to be arbitrarily deleted because the mod in question didn't like what I was saying rather than because it broke any rules, especially considering I never received a mod mail stating which rule was broken like I have in the past when one of my comments was deleted.

Stores dropped mask mandates as soon as it was allowed in both states I frequent. Never had a need for proof of vaccination status.

There are three stores that I know of in the Lafayette/West Lafayette area of Indiana, and none of them had any sort of PoV requirements. Masking was only mandatory for a few months here.

Sucks I didn't get to actually participate in the poll.
