Painted these up for a buddys army. I think they worked out really nice, the juggernaut being particularly fun to paint.

Very well painted and blurring the line between chaos and loyalist. I think in terms of aesthetics that line should be blurry. So, I like these a lot.

Looks fantastic. Is the Angel Guard a actual space marine chapter? I only mention this because ive seen a chapter looking eerily similar to this from an old White Dwarf article about 4 years ago....seriously army looked just like this, with the exception og the eyes being blue.

@Element206
Well, I won the Games workshop chapter master competition some years back with 3 angel guard marines, in 2005 IIRC. I never did continue with the project, but my buddy started a marines army, and figured he'd do the angel guard. Would be cool to know what WD the look alike army is in.

Cheers

My pretties!

The sepia isn't actually that strong in reality. The bone is quite light and clear. The photography isn't very accurate this time.

Anyway some of the pictures about other stuff in the army was posted earlier this year, but there's more to come soon enough, for example fully cloaked and robed 18 Devastators and a whole bunch of Juggernaughts, plus some honour guard. Pics of all that sometime next month I'd say.

-- ill find out for you. I basically bought the magazine for that particular article (painting competition). I have it at home, ill let you know tomorrow, and I do believe it is an issue from 2005. I havent looked at it in awhile, but from memory, these marines are incredibly similar. At any rate, your photos show the incredible time and effort that was put into these models, great job!

That's right. I've ordered enough Dark Angel upgrade sprues and Black Templar sprues and Khorne Berserker kits to last the whole army. Additionally, I'm now using Sanguinary Guard bits on the latest models (needed more wings plus the legs look cool), the TWC cav riders and Honour Guard/Wolf Scout models. Normal SM bits are in the mix as well.

I've biggerised a bit by adding greenstuff between the legs and the torso and then just hiding any ugly looking parts by placing tons of gun belts and extra weapons hanging from their waists. The Marines look better when they're half a head taller than they would be normally. The regular ones are often quite squatted.

Couple more pics here as requested. They've been posted on Dakka before. There will be pics of the Devastators/Long Fangs and the TWC etc next month. I've got four Rhinos, four Razors with variable turrets, six Predators, three Dreads, three Speeders and tons of GH/AM in paint now and soon pics of 18 heavies, one scout squad and 6 TwC plus a second 'Wolf Lord'. The first one is posted in the original post of this thread. Eventually, there will also be a few Terminator squads, Land Raiders and three Stormravens, but I'll probably wait for the GK kits before I finish those.

By the way, my guys had wings before GW started with their new Blood Angels

Out of curiosity, do you have any pics of any of these next to a 'human' sized mini, like a guardsman. I'd like to know how the 'biggerising' looks scalewise, as I've always like larger marines but can't afford to go the TS route.

No, I'm afraid I don't have any right now, but I pulled some random picture of someone's wip Black Templars in the Dakka gallery.

Those guys are assembled normally, and the tabards are touching the base. Look at mine and you'll notice they're quite a bit higher in the air (some a bit more than others). That's how much bigger they are, and it really makes a difference, especially after you bulk out the guys with tons of extra gear too. Every single one of my guys has a pistol and a knife and some extra gadgets or close combat weapons or grenades or ammo pouches on their belts, normally about 3 pieces of gear per model. I do some other normal stuff too, like adding some green stuff underneath the shoulder plates before I glue them on so they'll look more 'spaced' and therefore wider and bigger and more 'active' somehow. They look more imposing, just like Marines should, IMO.
