More excellent painting!

Bill the Cat was from the comic strip Bloom County, from back in the day- late 80's/early into mid-90's (?). I forget not everyone is as old as me!

Cool bulkheads, both the white and black are pretty effective. They wouldn’t look out of place being mixed and matched either

Been lost playing Starfield last few weeks.
Scanning rocks on desolate planets is boring as hell, yet I am compelled to keep doing it despite the million other things to do...

Anyways had a day off work yesterday and managed to do something to get back into hobby mode:

New LEDs! This box came with some neat connectors that allowed me to get a nice even setup instead of the weird structurally breaking bending I had to do previously.

Much nicer!
Also got a better colour range, the yellow looks yellow instead of green on my last set...
White is still a bit blue though but I can correct for that.

Painted a couple of models last night so will get back to regularly scheduled broadcasting soon!

My hobby ADHD, mostly Necromunda, with a splash of regular 40k...

Nice LEDs. I’ve been wanting to do similar with my display but not gotten around to it yet. Need to figure out if there’s a way to get different colours for different shelves, maybe crossing wires?

Ah, I'm not quite old enough but I think it has more to do with not buying newspapers unless they had Lego figures in them...
gobert wrote:Cool bulkheads, both the white and black are pretty effective. They wouldn’t look out of place being mixed and matched either

Thanks, yeah they no go well together but I will probably repaint to keep a uniform vibe and separate from the ZM stuff

Thanks!

Thanks! LEDs have a low draw so it should be possible to put a few separate sets into a USB splitter...
However my current set advises against making lengths longer than 10m due to power draw problems. For context, I've used around 3m on that shelf, so three shelves *should* be fine...

+++
Anyways, what have I been up to?
Painting! Got me a cherubim done:

+++The Pigeon+++

Cherubim and servo skulls are are a common sight in the underhive, flitting around as they deliver their messages between gangs and their sponsors.
And just like the messenger birds of old, there is opportunity for mischief...

This is just the little guy from the forgeworld underhive traders set, with a bit of garden wire to hold him up, nice and vague so he can pull duty for any faction...

+++

Also on the painting front is the forgeworld gun trader:

With the heavy bolter swapped out for a "milsurp" lasgun
Also the hunter gets some paint:

Trying to go for an Ash Wastes camouflage whilst staying away from the Nomads colour scheme so he's looking a bit tan

+++

On the making front:

I managed to pick up a box of Inquisitorial Agents and started modifying this guy.
Obvious one first is magnetised weapons and a couple of extra ones which I think are from the Dominus kit
Secondly I decided I didn't want any visible skin, so a head and arm swap from the skitarii box.
Had to have a power fist but the only left hand one I could find in my bits box was an Orlock one.
Might add some extra cables later.

+++

Lastly, I plan to start planning my next Study In project:

That's all for now, see you next time!

+++Servitor Iota+++

Servitor Iota remembers his time with his family climbing trees, rockpooling, laughing and squealing with delight.
This is a secret he will never tell his masters, for he knows he was born in a tube.

+++The Hunter+++

Karba stalks the dunes looking for easy prey, but when you are as good as he is, everyone is easy prey.

+++The Missionary+++

Padry roams the wastes telling grand tales from the Great Crusade.
With little but a rusty chainsword to ward off wildlife, he wanders unmolested by even the most deranged of men.
Yet he always finds an audience for his stories and a meal in payment.
Maybe he is truly touched by the Emperor, maybe he is just touched by the sun.

Been poking at old bits of terrain this week:
Starting to do the post was layering on this fuel tank:

Started this a while ago and just pulled it out again recently, I have some hazard stripes on the top, but they're making me unhappy so I gonna have to find a new spot for them...

Another gang stronghold wall:

I had already used the official centre tile in another bit of terrain so I made a replacement out of 5mm polystyrene signboard and did some carving on it. I didn't like my original centre so replaced it with a piece of cities of death terrain for interest.
I don't have anymore of the appropriate railings so I can either attempt to build my own or just use regular ZM railings

Also up, remember my guardsman mural?

Made it a part of a terrain piece, in part an experiment to see how well I could hide the gaps between the pieces with rust and grit.
Thinking about extending the mural, maybe some orks or genestealers getting crush underfoot...

Also done was one of the ITTD motor/pumps:

Kept to the navy theme I've been using which gave me a chance to use some blue for the small pumps.

+++
Somehow, I have managed to empty my current paint queue.
Granted this might be because I put a load of minis back in their pile of shame, but I have painted a more than I have made in the last couple of months...

No fluff for them yet and I run the risk of not writing any if I post them up...
Gat Gal:

Really happy with how her bright colours came out, her hair could probably do with a few more layers or even a bright colour repaint...

Trash King:

Victicy sells relics of the saints, genuine finger and knuckle bones or the occasional femur.
After all, as a former priest he can canonise any fallen hero he comes across.
These coins keep him in his favourite chemicals and when times are lean, he has another foot...

I love how my take on the relic trader has come out.
The idea was he made robes out of trash bags and tarps, an idea I wish I used on my ash wastes Nomads...
I think I need a new box now to make some trash waste nomads...

+++

Also it Halloween soon so found a nice big skull to "use for terrain":

Just a fiver from Lidls and comes with free sweets!
See you next time!

Great looking collection you have here! Each model is full of character and looks like they have lived a long and interesting life (considering the difficulty of life in the Hives).

Looking forward to more!

Great updates as always Guardling. Particularly liking your orange on the trader. Star of the show is the Trash King! What a fantastic idea to have all the different colours of robes and it works so well.

Thanks all!

Now that my paint queue is empty, time to fill it up!
I went through and put together the Inquisitorial Agents box set with the ones I liked the look of first:

Because I always wanted some of these weirdoes...

Then I started finding ways to use the spares to make the alternative characters:

The penal legion guy took a while to figure out and I need to do a bit of sculpting work on the back...

Gonna get a belt and a new arse on him and then cover it with pouches...

Also on the paint queue is one more Agent that I haven't made the alt for as I don't have any bodies I'm happy with:

The tailor (middle) is still lurking around as I'm just not inspired by her right now, maybe a name change will help...
Also been painting one of the unfinished Starstrider crew. I'm happy with the white for now just need to work on the blues and grays.

That's all for now!

Edit: some fluff for the Trash King:

Thanks all!
Works been busy so haven't had much time to do anything, then I got an infection that made my hand swell up, so no painting or writing this week...
Now the swellings gone down, I can start catching up...
Got some more kill team stuff painted up:

+++

The Convict:

Seldo regrets the murder of a fellow guardsman that sent him to Savlar.
This is because when he kills a man, he likes to watch the life drain from thier eyes.
But the men of Krieg never had any life behind their eyes in the first place...

+++

Skritchskritchskritchskritch skritch skritchskratchskritchskritck skritchskratchskratchskritch...
Mallory dutifully transcribes his masters discussions...
Skratchskratch skritch...

+++

Also up is my version of Larsen van der Graus:

I have been following a vague Star Trek crossed with Victorian soldier colour scheme with the Starstriders and as part of the science team he gets blue...
Still got the Rouge Trader herself to paint but she keeps falling off her base...

+++

Last up for now, I'm working on the Death World Vet who's very clearly a Catachan:

Was tempted to go for a not jungle camo scheme but broke in the end...

+++

That's all for now, will try and get some more painting done this weekend, I recently put some layers on the hab unit so maybe I'll finally finish it...
See you next time!

A swollen hand sounds painful, Hoepfully all better soon. The latest batch of characters are great. Mallory looks very studious and I love the idea of the star striders following the Star Trek colours, neat touch!

Good old Delaque saving the day, most of the armour plates have been filed away.

Thanks all!
@ Endtransmission: I like that idea!
R.e. the puffy gangers, I may end up updating them with some green stuff and new heads now that I've got a much better bits box than when I first made them.
However these guys are pretty low on my queue at the moment, unless I ADHD them further up
Some of the weapons need a tidy up and I need to replace the powder pouches with actual pouches...
Here's a very old pic of their original colour scheme which I'm not sure I'll keep:

I seem to have misplaced this particular model, or more likely broken him down into bits, but the pose is naff so may make a new guy...

+++

Inquisitorial Agents are still my main focus at the moment so got some layers on the Hexorcist and Mystic Agents:

I'm trying to stay close to the box art for these guys, or at least as much as I can with the Hexorcists substitute parts...

Also up is the Death World Veteran:

Chag hates the mission his masters have sent him on. Stalking through the bowels of the hive city brings back his memories of being a child, where every nook and cranny holds a new form of death to learn, often at the cost of his comrades.
He cannot show it, but he is scared.

Took inspiration from the box art but given that this guy is supposed to SF, I blacked out all of his weapons and kept the metals to a minimum.

+++

Remembered my hab unit exists so been putting some layers on that:

And then got distracted by the tables:

I tried painting the books up as safety/training manuals so they fit with being on a workman's table.
These tables are going on the opposite side to the kitchen but they have magnets in them so they snap into place and I can take them out an put them elsewhere.

+++

Also being snuck onto my queue is some good old regular Necromunda stuff:
Finished up an Orlock heavy with harpoon:

He's been on the "page 2" (I also have a page 3 ) of my queue for a while...
so now I have all my orlocks finished I found bits to make another one...

I wanted something non standard with my final guy and so with a bit of cutting I came up with a bolt pistol wielding gunslinger

Finally put some layers on the Escher Shivver to try and figure out her colours:

I think I'll put some green threads running through her dreads as my contrast pop colour, but there's going to be plenty of little details to stick in there...

+++

That's all for now, see you next time!
