Is there some sort of ratio between number of Defence Emplacements you should have in relation to number of Defence Lines.

I currently have 2 Defence Lines and 1 Emplacements and was planning to pick up 2 more of each. Would that be a little emplacement heavy especially as I have a couple of bunkers and Firestorms to mix in there?

2 Lines per 1 Emplacement is a decent ratio, tbh its slightly overkill IMO, but thats just me. I would drop one of the 2 emplacements you were planning to pick up and get a bunker instead (or another set of defense lines if you prefer), otherwise you're going to end up with more "junctions" than you have defense lines.

Frankly unless you're doing a whole Wall O Dead Cadians board I'd go with the bastion over the WoM bunker. Among other things you can make some nice low bunkers out of it and still have the walls for other projects.

Thanks for your help. I ended up grabbing another set of defence lines on top of what I had planned so I now have - 5 Defence Lines, 3 Emplacements, 2 bunkers, 3 Firestorms and an Aquila stronghold. So I should hopefully have enough bits to make a few different setups.

Wasn't going to order any, changed my mind multiple times...

Decided late yesterday to effectively order this:

I don't want any more as I will eventually build an ultimate trench board, I just want something I can use for games/photography that is fairly immersive that is easy to set up etc and transportable as well as modular.

Expensive but well, they are just nice kits.

I picked up 2 bunkers and 1 set of emplacements.

In total that brings me to 6 sets of defense lines, 4 bunkers, 3 sets of emplacements, and 2 Vengeance Weapon Batteries (total 4 turrets, they came in pairs).

We can't all be as blessed as Aeneades with his 3 Firestorm Redoubts and an Aquila Strongpoint.

9 bastions.

63" of city walls if my planning is correct.

If not, well I'll have a lot of towers.

Budget only extended to a sky shield landing pad for me. 2 more bastions to make a double wide would have been nice, but oh well.

Hoping this was a test to see if these would be worth it to be honest, at which point I'd buy 1x of each to go with what I bought yesterday.

Yes, hopefully they do the others.

I would love to get another set of Vengeance Weapon Batteries, as I only have one set, and a Plasma Obliterator.

For sure I'd buy more if they made the other stuff available, I just think I have enough trenches, bunkers, and emplace.ents for now

Anyone care to guess how long MTO plastics take? GW says up to 180 days, I imagine the 6 month limit is just to be safe but I don't know what the real range is.

I ordered the (now illegal) Company Champion on 20/05/23. I got the notice it was ready to pick up from GW on 23/08/23.

I've had items ship the day or two after the order in the UK that were made to order.

I presume there's an element of demand, and fulfilling back orders of the same item etc first.

One of the above items was the new warhammer+ kasrkin model, which presumably they've pumped out thousands of recently....

Until we get a youtuber able to have a tour inside the GW factory, who knows the process?

Ended up going with 5 trenches, 3 emplacements, and two bunkers. More than I’ve ever spent on GW stuff in one go before.

I do hope they do a MTO on the ‘extras’ like the Aquila Strongpoint, the firestorm redoubts and the vengeance batteries one day. I don’t have any of those...

One of them filthy casuals...

Last time I got a MTO model (Skaven classic Vermin Lord), it was a shockingly short time before this was shipped, looking back at my email it was 2 days after I placed my order

But yeah it's easy to think that casting some metal models is extremely fast versus producing plastic sprues for big kit (also the scale of popularity of niche metal fantasy models versus popular 40k plastic buildings).

I don't follow/remember past MTO that much, but I think it's kinda rare to have plastic production in there? From what I can remember it was mostly older minis that were resin/metal.

When they do an MTO they always to a pre-run of a volume of stock they feel certain they can sell. It's basically an incentive to order early as those at the front of the que get their stuff sent out from this existing stock. Once that is all dealt with they collect up the other orders and then schedule in an appropriate production slot for the rest of the orders. So it's normal if you say order early on the first Saturday to get the models within a few days, but having recieved them if you then went back to order more towards the end of the MTO you would find the rest will take months (shortest I've waited in 1.5 months, longest is 4).

Its actually not a bad way to keep older plastic kits in rotation, do as MTO, know the quantities and schedule the production run for just that.

presumably generic plain white boxes and ship them

no need to keep stock items and encourages purchases when they do arrive

Mine arrived earlier today. I’d never had the trenches in the past, was surprised to see the required little to no actual assembly.

Yeah they are fairly easy to go together, though my recollection was the plastic on the trenches was a bit brittle (or something) compared to the typical GW plastic. It behaved a bit differently than I expected when I was building through my collection of trenches and bunkers 2-3 years back.

My four Bastions are still in the car boot until Mrs alphaecho goes back to work and I can sneak the boxes into the house. I had the order delivered to the local GW.
