Sid Meier's Pirates is a great game to kill some time. A few other great ones are Hero's of Might and Magic 5 and Hell even Warcraft 3.

WOW! I can't beleive I forgot about heroes! Although the problem with that is that it is more addictive than crack, my room mate and I nixed booty to play that friggin' game on friday nights! (heroes 3)
