Nah, not as long as it's not on the expense of others (albeit it usually is )
I'm cleaning my painting area. I'm supposed to clean the entire apartment, but first things first.
Most of my hobbies are at a detriment to my other hobbies. Playing 40k recently? Not painting Bolt Action. Just got in a new KS reward? Not building things for another game, that sort of thing. HeroClix, like X-Wing has become a sort of, "hey we've got an hour to kill, and I don't feel like setting anything else up, let's play this instead" game for my play group, it just so happens that I've found another few people that play HeroClix so I can play it locally instead of where I normally game (which is an hour from where I live, but 15 minutes from work).

I meant on the expense of other people. I haven't met many clix players, but the ones I have met have been incredibly rude and disagreeable guys, and I've seen people on the internet have had the same impression of 'em. That's what I was referring to. In all humour of course.

Oh, lol
Yeah, if they're rude SOBs, I'll just not show up anymore, and inform the store owner why I showed up and then stopped showing up .

People actually play that?
I said that same thing about firestorm armada players
Yeah, HeroClix is decently popular and appeals to a different type of crowd than your standard dakkanaut (i.e. non-collectable games like 40k/WMH/etc... I mean the HeroClix line is one of the top 5 collectible games on the market atm, only falling behind Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon.
I mean I've played like 3 games of HeroClix, and they've all been random games where I've borrowed a buddy's figures for a game since he's really into HeroClix. Currently atm it allows me to play painted minis against other painted minis without having to assemble them or paint them. Two things I don't mind doing, but time is tight and I'd rather play a game than paint.

Touche... good comeback . Hoping to change that about FSA though, atleast in my gaming community.
timetowaste85 wrote: Yeah, Clix is popular in my new area, but I can't figure out why. Oh well. I tried watching a game, and it's just not for me.
I'm trying to figure out what makes it popular. From our standpoint as hobbyists, the models are generally subpar sculpts, the paint jobs are low tabletop at best to complete gak at worst, there is always a new version of your favorite model coming out from a different arc, movie, timeline, etc... so there is almost always a need to be updating (apparently).
But from a gameplay standpoint, it's not terrible. You can only activate so many models per turn, models can activate basically once every other turn (unless you choose to tactically damage them to get an extra turn out of them before you have to 'clear them'). So you have to think about activation order, combo order, line of sight, etc... The special powers are standardized across the board, like Iron Man and Thor might both have Running Shot as an ability, but the game will call them something different like Energy Blast(Running Shot) and Hammer Throw(Running Shot), you get bonuses for playing thematically, and the game is otherwise pretty simple to pick up.
Is it something that I'm gonna be hardcore for? Nah, but it gives me something to do with my friends that isn't our usual stuff.

Yes, I suppose it's another side-niche of hobby type games, and connected in the same way that board or card games are. A lot of crossover, but I think you also get fans from one or other camp that have no interest in the other.
New updates on my "BLOOD SPACE WOLVES 10 RIPTIDES RIDING STORMRAVENS ARMADEGON " thread, (click the 'Flames of War' banner below )
Had an interesting time last night playing HeroClix, turns out that they only play tournaments on Wednesdays. I might still show up, treating it like I do Magic Tournaments (a 'cheap' way to force myself to play a game that I don't normally play). Showed up late after sitting in a traffic jam for 40 minutes (seriously, 5 miles in 40 minutes), had to create 3 teams using literally almost everything I owned. While I lost every game, I largest loss was by 70 points, with my smallest loss literally by 2 clicks of damage (third round opponent and I didn't get into combat till like the end of the round). Guys were decent enough bunch, saw some kitbashed figures, got some prizes. Had a solid, fun time.
Tonight? Working on some Brushfire stuff, and maybe building some more mkIII Marines for my Minotaurs.

I've noticed in the smaller games, tourneys tend to have few of tfg. Atleast when you're avoiding 40k (there's a reason I avoid 40k tourneys anymore) and magic. I enjoy the x-wing tourneys a lot here and when I was in highschool getting into Mage Knight I went to a couple tourneys and the people tended to be nicer in that as well.
On topic. Hopefully finishing my 3 dindrenzi ships today... delays delays, the admiral isn't happy.
I spent this morning finishing up my rust & corrosion practice pieces. I will be applying an effect like this to my Daemon Prince over the next couple of weeks.
Dipped some gobbos, accidentally throwing one into a snow drift. Fished it out, and put it on the radiator to melt the snow off. It fell down the back of the radiator, gathering a load of fluff as it went. It's now ruined. I'm not doing any more hobby stuff today. :(

silver lining, use the opportunity to make him an undead goblin instead? I mean, what better way to start a new army/mercenary force for Triumph & Treachery...
The goblin.. once lost to the snow... tossed into the raging heat of a fluff loving radiator... to be reinvigorated, to strike fear into the hearts of those who once held him dear.. or held him in slave like servitude.. whatever, same thing
He he. I've had a look at him, and I may be able to rescue him. I'll let the dip dry, debase him and see if its salvageable or if it is a dunk in the dettol.
Today I placed several orders for my Irken "counts as Tau" army. Grey aliens from Zombiesmith (I'll drill holes into their heads and glue wire antennas into their heads), Grymm Walkers from Hasslefree (it'll take quite a bit of conversion, but they'll make great Megadoomers), all sorts of robots from Hydra Miniatures (they'll require head swaps, but they'll make great SIR units), and some Leviathans from Dreamforge games (to be used as the giant robots Zim uses to cause a rather abrupt end to Operation: Impending Doom 1).
All the models will be smaller than their Tau equivalents, but if somebody gripes about me using different miniatures to represent a super fluffy army, I probably didn't want to game against them any way. They'll be on the correct bases too, so weapon ranges will be the same. Sure, it's unlikely that I'll be able to use them in a tournament, but they'll be a blast on the table.
"I have concluded through careful empirical analysis and much thought that somebody is looking out for me, keeping track of what I think about things, forgiving me when I do less than I ought, giving me strength to shoot for more than I think I am capable of. I believe they know everything that I do and think, and they still love me. And I’ve concluded, after careful consideration, that this person keeping score is me." -Adam Savage

At this point in my hobby career, that is all I care about It's all about the fun and enjoyment of the hobby for its own sake. Not that I have any grief with people who want to play in tournaments or who are really *really* picky about the rules, its just mutually agreeable that we don't play a game
I've been playing around with my mantic Enforcer suppression team. I've happily stumbled upon the fact that they take quite naturally to magnets, and there have been some (temporary) shenanigans
Spoiler:
Issue me an assault blade will you? No thanks, this'll do. It just about works, the limbs are similar in size and proportion, but aesthetic style is a bit off (and the weapons are no longer true scale!) and so on. Just fun
For anyone who isn't familiar with Mantics scifi models, the corporation marine on the right is almost exactly the same height as a space marine.
If I get any more time in the hobby dungeon, I'll be working on my junk pile for Skalk's terrain contest.

I have finished the parts for my BT Chapter Master. Next up is getting arms for 20 marines cleaned and ready for primer. Hopefully I can get this stuff in paint before the end of the month!
Have'nt had much time in the last few weeks... sad really, although I've been thinking of WFB and a Vampire Counts Army, so I grabbed up the new skellies boxed set, been tinkering with those models. Dissapointed about the bases, I could have sworn the old FB bases were big enough to place pennies on the bottom for weight.
Put together and idea of a hobby tray to pack my project around with me, so far so good, I've completed more work that way. Otherwise I'm up in the man room.
Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of the women.

For the love of...where are my scout shotguns and a pair of clippers!! Nice job, GD!
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I was trying to up-armor my scouts at one point, so that's a marine arm (blood angel maybe) with the scout shotgun attached at the wrist. But scout arms may well work on their own.

Used a bionic head from Anvil Industries as a head swap for my Torias Telion to make him look unique as a Raven Guard character. I might also swap his stalker pattern boltgun for an Umbra ferrox boltgun, if it fits.
And I bought some 2mm & 2.5mm drill bits so I can magnetise my Vanguard veterans.

Finally got the paint scheme down for my Warpath Enforcers, after going through 5 different variations. I started with Star Wars style white, then Halo UNSC green, then black, then blue and white, before finally settling on something that is similar to the 'official' scheme but far darker and dirtier. Grimdark hard sci-fi, if such a thing can exist.
2 down, 28 to go... and then Deadzone arrives and I can do it all over again...

Of course it can! Aliens setting was always grimdark with corporations wanting the alien as weapon and not caring about the peoples and all that. Grimdark can easily be separated from Scifantasy, its not just a warhammer thing
So uhh, you got pictures of these Enforcers anywhere? Looking for inspiration myself
