Started painting my Cyriss faction. All models have been sprayed white and now I starting to paint them mitril silver.
Today, I began with a heavy vector.

Moreover, I read some threads here at Dakka, foremost 40k General Discussion.

Finally got my deadzone shipment, I figure today is as good as any day for sorting and seeing if I'm missing anything.

Some things are missing from deadzone, but they are noted on the invoice. I'll have to give them an email and see what was up but other than that, my shipment seems intact. I'll be cutting out terrain tiles for the rest of the night probably, and maybe back to painting after the little one is sleeping for the night.

@DarkElf27 is your avatar a guard model or some kind of artwork? I can't tell, but it looks pretty badass either way

Don't get a blister cutting out all the tiles! (I did. Most embarrassing modelling injury one can get)

Bwahaha, how many did you do at once? I think I'd die if I tried to do all of mine in one sitting, especially the mold lines (not that they're bad, but a lot of little bits add up).

I clipped all the plastic sprues at once. Didn't clean anything up, just removed from sprues to save space.

That is why it is so embarrassing

@Sparkywtf, the retail version, the two battlezone strike team version, or did you order more sprues? I've got like a dozen battlezones in front of me, I'd die if I made an attempt on all of that

I got the strike team version. I saw a picture of a local guy who cut it all up and put it into ziplock bags, and I thought it was smart and decided to do that too. A lot more clipping then expected. You can still see where the blister was too, even though it was like a month ago.

I got a random mish mash, the crashed flyer from Black Reach box set, a load of corner pieces (some are the ones from the 4th ed box set and I think some are 5th) and some larger buildings including one scratch built, I plan to start making my own but need something to save playing over an empty table for the time being and get my board going.

Ahh sounds cool. I had some of the old 3rd ed box set ruins, and I always thought the crashed lander was cool. The cities of death terrain is nice too but after the price hike I usually disregard it in my plans.

My first deadzone piece is base coated, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna do the detail work on it or focus on getting my next piece finished. The little one is nice and sick so I'm on an even shorter leash than usual, so perhaps trimming and snapping terrain together it is

Haha luckily my little one has been pretty good of late and I have had plenty of time to crack on.

Managed to paint my first tactical squad today although it took quite some time and with a hell of a lot more minis im not sure when I will get them all done.

Terrains nice and easy though. Ill probably black spray the lot then just drybrush it in boltgun metal to look industrial and that will do for the time being.

Oooh, it may not seem like much, but getting those first 10 marines done is a nice step for your army. I just can't look at marines the same way after enforcers though. My near-addiciton-level ebay habits of the past few years (switched to kickstarter, not sure it was a wise move ) have me sitting on 4500something points of various marines and I'm not sure what to do with them. They just don't look right to me anymore, they need to be taller.. but tall scaling is pretty labor intensive, it would be fine for a skirmish sized force but it would take forever to do a full army.

I hear you on the terrain. I may do a little more than a drybrush for my deadzone scenery, but I'll probably leave off all of the cool weathering and little details like the door consoles and street lamp lights for later when I'm ambitious, and just get the base colors locked in for now.

I've been building a blister-packed Flames Of War Tiger 1E, as a test sample of the FoW range, and I have to say I'm not all that impressed...

There were no assembly instructions; nothing to say how the parts should be cleaned up or prepared. There was a huge resin plug on the base of the hull that I missed removing during prep so had to sand off with the track castings in place. The track castings are not the same height so have had to put on askew, and the bottom of the tracks will be sanded flat when I base the model. The hull casting isn't symmetrical- the RH side is higher than the LH side. There was nothing to say which track guard went where, or even how big it should be - I very nearly cut one too small off its white metal sprue.

I'm not a novice model maker by any means and with the Internet I was able to find out how the model should look, and I know that these are sold primarily as gaming pieces and not miniature masterpieces.
But I still think a little printed advice sheet from the manufacturer wouldn't go amiss. Instead I spent much longer than I thought creating a pretty average replica.

6/10 Battlefront, can do better.
