Just ordered 3 IG command squads, 40 conscripts and another 20 reg guardsmen and am now trying to figure out the fastest and laziest way to paint them all (I'm thinking airbrush)

3000pts 30 wins 2 draws 12 loses

5000pts 13 wins 1 draws 9 losses

WoC "where the points don't matter" 6 wins 0 draws 4 losses

Things my Giant has pocketed for later in AoS: 1 zombie, 2 spirit hosts, 1 banshee, 1 zombie dragon, assorted phoenix guard

Airbrushes and washes are your friends here. A simple basecoat -> highlight (optional) -> wash technique can get IG table-ready in no time.

Try covering the base with a thin, slightly lumpy layer of modelling putty/plasticine and then covering the whole shebang in sponge paint.

I have a tub of the stuff intended for doing decals on walls, which i use for mud effects for my Daemons. (Polyvine Sponge paint - Molasses)

A thick layer, then about 2 days to dry.

Then add patches of grass. Mordheim turf worked well for me.

If you want a more future look get a wheel from a toy bike or tank. Roll it through the gloop as it is nearly dry, and it'll leave tire tracks. Add a little water effects/mod podge to the depressions when fully dry to represent rain collecting in the dips,

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Got most of the base coating and drybrushing done on my old converted Trygon that I'd been procrastinating doing anything on, also made up a base that I'm pretty pleased with for him (was going for making a hole in the ground for him to come out of and I think I pulled it off). Started on making some wings I had lying around work to make a third Flyrant (one that had previously just been the Swarmlord, but is magnetized) so I can run the Skyblight Formation. Overall, decent day for progress!

Finally got all of my plague undercoated and now the flesh is done for all 8. Still a ways to go, but I can see the light at the end of the project for my first two deadzone teams so I'm fiddling with a marauders list to figure out what to clean and paint next.

Also got some paint down on a couple small bits of DZ scenery, needs a few more applications from the airbrush and then I've got to decide if I'm going to dip all of my scenery by brush or just hit it with multiple flat coats. I'm afraid, having airbrushed the undercoat, that the paint will be particularly prone to chips/gouges even under a couple of layers of sealer... but the woodstain would probably eliminate that problem entirely... just a matter of getting it applied evenly without streaks or missing pools (some you can mask with weathering, but only so far).

Today I painted another Mordian iron guard. I ordered some Victoria Minitures dress uniforms to work on a couple converted scout sentinels. I cleared my table and got 3 heresy dark angels, 6 IG, and 10 Fields of Glory romans ready to be painted.

While i'm at work tonight, I am going to go by memory and plan out what needs to be built and painted to finish my IG. I am going to look up cameras and lighting so I can start a project log for my IG.

I built 7 Deathwatch Marines today, each one from a different Chapter, all in different poses, using a collection of pieces from the Tactical Squad, Sternguard, Vanguard, Sevrin Loth's Command Squad, metal Deathwatch conversion kit, Command Squad and Marine Commander sprues. Even threw in a CHS studio Howling Griffon pad to make a guy with twin Grav Pistols and a Jump Pack.

Got some 40k in today.

First was a 2400 point 2v1 game with Dark Angels, Ultramarines and a Knight (me), versus Tau and Necrons (them). By turn 5, there was complete and utter carnage, with the Knight's last HP being stripped by Gauss (much to the chagrin of the Tau player who got the other 5!), a squad of immortals holding their ground against a Space Marine captain with TH for 6 rounds, 1" from the board edge, and general slaughter on both sides. Hero of the game has to be my terminator Inquisitor with psycannon, who took out an Ionhead, a Doomsday Ark and a full squad of Fire Warriors before finally going down to a Destroyer Lord's warscythe. The final score was 12-12, a draw!

Second was a 500 point SW (me) vs Tau (same guy as before). It was sheer chaos, with the only models being left when the game ended on turn 7 being 2 drop pods and a Hammerhead. I won 5-4 on Kill Points, but considering I didn't fail a single save on the first turn of shooting (500 points of Tau vs 1 Grey Hunter squad) and was 3-0 up at the start (First Blood, Warlord and a KP from one JOTWW) my opponent did a great job of almost pulling it back, and fluff-wise easily claimed victory in the end.
