Schlyne wrote: I am still agonizing over a couple of things:
1. I need to figure what model to paint for my FLGS technical paint competition this month. 2. What army I want to play in WHFB.
So I've been spending today working on that, along with just wandering around on dakka. I'm also hoping that all the stuff I ordered last friday will show up tomorrow...
At this rate I'm going to paint some nurgle model for the technical competition...it's something else for apoc at least. (of course daemons go back and forth between 40k and WHFB, but ....)
What models are you consdering?
As for the technical competition, I'm thinking about just getting some nurgle plaguebearers, or nurgleings. Not too expensive, and something i can grab off the shelf. Unless I find something I really want in my fantasy army that I want to splatter with blood and rust or whatever to get the required 25% of the model coverage for the contest. And I can throw the daemons in apoc with the rest of my stuff If I really want to. I don't really have the $$ to buy a nice piece of usable building terrain atm.
For WHFB?
After all the reading I've done over the couple weeks, I've decided I"ll just deal with it. I love squigs, and I like the orcs and goblins models more than anything else. I've looked over the codex a bit, and it doesn't seem as bad as it's been made out. I don't really want to horde, but I'll horde if I love the models, and I know that if you know what you're doing, you can win with any army. If for some reason I start going to tourneys and just getting my butt handed to me with them, I can always pick up something else down the road or something.
In fact, I tied for 3rd in the final for kill teams at the local store, and that's only due to the fact it was a dance of death for the final four. I had 2nd in points going in the finals, and I know I could have made a nastier kill team with the knowledge I have now.

Finish painting my Skorne Paingiver beast handlers, hopefully finish painting up my Reaper Bones female barbarian and some how, since I am in the mood for it, work on some conversions for Nercomunda and Mordhiem.

priming some tau and then going to paint a 5 man squad of elysians for my IG. Otherwise not much. I got some turrets to paint up too for my elysian force but its on hold.
Started on my HH army. Making the leap with Imperial Fists.
Starting with a 15 man Tactical Squad what I'll add an Apothecary to, eventually. Yay, yellow! Waiting for my FWHH book 3 to come in to see what color to paint the trim. Hopefully, it will arrive today or tomorrow.

With all the excitement and terror of a new 40k edition about I cracked, bought a box of gretchin and a box of orks, now cleaned up, assembled and based waiting primer.
Also finished painting the last unit for an upcoming FoW tournament, discovered there is something I hate more than painting tank track in 15mm (I have a panzer army also) and horses in 28mm (bretonnians), that is painting the boots on 15mm models..
Naturally I have a Soviet infantry force.
Why do I do it to myself?

Yesterday I assembled the last of my Dreadball kickstarter models (fanfare!) - And I managed to do it before the survey came out for the Dreadball Xtreme kickstarter I pledged for... Have I finished painting a team yet? Heck no. It's only been what, 7 months since the last of the season 3 deliveries?
I'm currently working on assembling some Enforcers from the Enforcer army set I bought recently.

I got an original box of metal Goliaths for Necromunda in the mail yesterday. I will be putting them together tonight (really just gluing to the base) and priming them. If I have time I will try to get some base coating done.
Cadre Fireblade. Love the model, such a great sculpt and i'm really enjoying painting him up all fething bad ass.

"Seventh edition? Feth that GW! I'm sticking with sixth to show you who is boss! Via la revolution!"
"I'm not buying anything from you no more! Apart from three riptides, new codex, starter set and rulebook... but that's it!"
And that is how I see Dakka ^_^

That terrain is top notch! Do not think for an instant that I will not be taking ample "inspiration" from your work
I did a little work on terrain myself, I've got a storage tank/ thing that got some revisions and re-primed yesterday. Today I got the whole thing sprayed with gunmetal, then masked a little bit, and sprayed with some base grey like my DZ terrain and enforcers. Next step (after toddler is asleep for the night) is to dip it. If I get that done I'll add some rust tomorrow.
I also picked up some 1/2" pipes and elbows in the plumbing section of Lowes as an initial plunge into working with such materials.

Nice work!
I put together a Dark Angels Tactical Sergeant with power fist and bolt pistol, kit bashing a new Tactical Squad with the DA Veteran's box set, an the appropriate metal shoulder pads (because I don't do well with transfers at all!). I'm glad I don't usually hobby at this pace, otherwise It would take me forever to get a squad done!

Lucky you! Hell, once I can, I might try and purchase the original Cawdor models if I can even if it does cost me a fortune.
For me today, it is finishing up the drybrushing on my Paingiver Beast Handlers and then finish my Reaper Bones Female Barbarian.
Since I am off the grid tomorrow, my plan is to get in a game or two of Nercomunda and/or Heralds of Ruin's Kill Team.

To use as centerpieces of my Dropzone Commander games (well, and my flat for that matter)... They're 18 inches tall (or long) and come in at £200 or £300 respectively... Still technically cheaper than a GW Titan... And pre-painted.
I did end up eventually buying the 6 inch model of the Normandy SR-1, however that ended up being far too small for Dropzone Commander... Might still work for X Wing though.
Anyone know anything about 'polystone' or 'polyresin'?
I've been attempting some math (oh dear) and apparently my guesses have been way off. Despite me thinking that the Normandy SR-2 is a relatively small ship, it's apparently nearer 5mm scale than 10mm. And the Sovereign statue? Well, that'd be at around 0.04mm scale... Eep....
That's leaning me towards the SR-2, especially as it is currently on 'sale'.
Oh, and I'm assembling some more enforcers... Think I've got a proper warpath army going now.

Played a game of Pike & Shot today against a friend, was nice to be abel to finaly field a fully painted army after almost a year and a half of work, and thanks to the genius bases that Warlord supplies their kits with it dose not take forever to set up ones army.
Did loose but it was a great game, and I enjoyed it immensly.

Huh, so that looks like the X-wing stuff is pre-fab pre-painted? Crazy. I hear it's a fun game?
Today I put up a wire mesh fence in the back yard so the little one can play outside when I'm too tired to chase her all over the yard at large. We'll see how she enjoys this quasi-captivity. So I'm a bit spent, it's getting fairly warm. I'm hoping to put down a little paint on my marauders, unless I have to clean out the garage to make room for another car, then nothing but moving stuff all evening
I did at least finish dipping my water/fuel storage ma-bob thingy. As soon as the stain is cured I'll be able to apply rust, and that's so fun I may do it even if I'm tired

Yeah, X-Wing is entirely pre-painted. Though you can quite happy repaint it if you want. - There's some pretty awesome repaints out there. The most I've ever done is paint over the stripes on one of the X Wings to make it Corran Horn's.
If you want to see how the game plays, you can't get better than this.

I primed a 5 man Legion Destroyer Squad for 30k and a guy that will eventually be a Captain in one of my 40k armies, once he has arms that is.
I've also worked a lot on "cleaning up" some of my army lists. My Sons of Antaeus have gotten a little out of hand. The core list is a Siege Vanguard list which works fine for what it is but it's also 2500pts. I'd like to have a smaller, tidier list for more conventional games. So I've been mulling over a 1500pt or 1850 list, something that doesn't incorporate a squad of Vindicators but that still captures the spirit of the army.

GW? 0 dollars yes ZeRo dollars. Perhaps that is one of the reason why 4 out of 5 GW stores went out of business in less than 2 years in my sphere of influence. I did 1% of the total yearly sales to the store that I used to go. Pity they pissed me off. They got no money. They eventually go poof.

Going back to killing tanks. Perhaps I'll try Flames of War as well. Then I'll go pew pew pew killing models of tanks

I worked on my deathleaper a little bit today, and started a 1505 point game (It was 1500 points, and he added 5 points so we could get started and it was easy for him to add in) against my fiancee's DE, until the weather stopped us.
If we hadn't left when we did, we would have ended up with a extended stay in the FLGS bathroom. Yay tornado season!

Finished my liquid storage tank scenery piece this afternoon and printed out a bunch of signs and posters to use with the rest of my scenery. Decent weekend though I want to get my marauders further along.
