Resisted the urge to buy a pair of Tyranid Crones/Harpys and decided it would be cheaper and wiser to build an Imperial Knight kit I've been procrastinating building for months now.

The plastic kit is more complicated, and fiddly, than the Forgeworld Cerastus Knight kit.

Why is it we tend to be more excited for new gak we don't have than stuff we were really excited about right up until we bought it and let it sit in a box for months.

I make the mistake of buying lots of stuff at once, and then getting distracted an moving on to something different, before finishing all the stuff I aquired first.

Possibly got 12 Rohirrim done tonight, but won't add them to the total until I see how they look based; at the moment, I may not be entirely happy with how they've come out.

You make me all feel like such a slacker with your model progress this year.

The first termagants I painted have 12 different colors of paint on them (including the base, not including primer).

Well, I know what my list is for week two of the WMH Journeyman League, but I think I should actually put together my proper Woldwrath so I can stop proxying Megalith as one. Baldur, the Woldwarden, and the Shifting Stones are (gasp!) actually painted.

I know the feeling ... my Tacticals (and base) have around 30 different colours of paint on them: Always a base and at least 2 other for highlighting, not counting the 3 different shades for different areas and technical paints for details.

Yes, it's slow but my OCD would do a number on me too.

On topic: Finally the base colouring is pretty much done and started shading Cirno. Only 1 tiny bit to base colour and share and it's 100% ready for details. I just had to shade something to add some details because the miniature was looking far too ugly, my mind was making me want to purge that abomination from my house.

Bit of a slow one so far today. I've been digging through various bits boxes to try and scrounge some horses for LoTR, and having performed enough limb surgery to qualify for a vets degree, I now have a grand total of 13 intact horses, enough for a warband or two of Cavalry. To make the most of this, I'm not going to glue down riders; while I lose some stability, I think it's worth it for the ability to use them interchangably between Rohan and Gondor.

On a side note, I ordered a couple of Reaper Bones minis to stand in for Tauriel and Thranduil, interested to see how they come out. I nearly ordered a few more, at £2 a mini it's hard to say no!

Yeah... I may end up ordering some of the cooler bones minis myself if I like what I see from Bones2. Not that I won't have enough to work on for years from that alone....

Just use a bit of bluetack for your riders, comes apart when you ask but given an hour or two to set up a bit, it's nearly as good as glue for that kind of thing, especially if you handle the models by the base/horse. Used to do my empire knights like that so I could de-horse the lancers and get them to fit in their carrier.

Just finished basing 3 more zombies, up to a total of 21 for the year which isn't bad at all IMO. And I'm not even doing any assembly line or tiny models yet, woo woo. Gonna get on assembling some more zombies today if I get the chance, they're fun May break down and do some smurfs though too, both to pad the numbers but also because I'm running out of primed models =/ I'll need to use some greenstuff to make hats for the last batch too.

The LotR riders actually fit pretty snugly to the horses without glue (the plastics at least), so I'll use blue-tack if I have but I should be fine as they are.

You are easily on target with 21 so far, and all looking good. I must grab some DZ Zombies myself soon, as soon as I'm done with this LotR binge.

Well, technically it was on Monday night but my mate just uploaded his photos of me trying to fly an 8 TIE Fighter swarm against his rebels - A B-Wing, Y-Wing, 2 Z-95 headhunters.

It started off very nicely organised.

And, for the majority of the game, my flying continued to do well.

While I did win the game... Things got rather, well, messy by the end. I think this is a picture of the second last turn or so.

You'll note that there's a distinct lack of TIE Fighters facing well... The correct direction.

And also one parked on top of an asteroid.

Looks like he modified his B-wing (or does the normal b-wing expansion come sideways like that?), neat.

I saw a really neat battle between a 7-Tie swarm (Howl, Backstabber, and mostly academies after that) and 3 x-wings on the youtube (think it was a tourney game from GenCon or something..) and after the opponent was down to a single X-wing it was really neat to watch how well the ties could cover almost any angle he could possibly get to given there were so many of them left.

Just got 7 more Plague Zombies assembled, I think I'll wait to prime them till tomorrow or something though. Not sure what to do next, the painting queue always needs more fodder but I kind of need to study the rules for Pulp Alley as I believe I've got a game of that tomorrow.

Right, it's 1:00AM so I guess it counts as "today": I'm extremely happy, it took me 3 nights but Cirno is 100% base painted and washed, her staff is almost done, it's only missing OSL and the base is 100% done.

This miniature is being quite a challenge: It's my second true 28mm miniature, it's resin (even if decent quality, I feel resin is so much worse than plastic), I completed the base first (something I never did before), and it's fantasy related, something I didn't paint for some good months now.

"Today" I'm finally headed to the highlighting/layering stage and I couldn't be happier.

If procrastinating building 40K stuff was any sort of competition, I'd be world class. I still have RT era stuff I haven't gotten around to building yet.

Today, I should be hitting the big 100 (minis painted this year, not age ). On deck are Eomer foot and mounted, Grimbold on foot and 5 Riders of Rohan, which will put me on 99... Then I have one more rather special one lined up...
