Now that I know just how much battlezone terrain and other bits and bobs I needed for Checkpoint Station, I've been taking stock to see what I can use the leftover bits for. I've cut part of the connectors off my spare lampposts so that they can fit flat against some single width buildings.

I've also taken the clippers to a lot of the small stand connectors too, allowing them to be used as the feet of barricades even when they're at the end of them.

In case you missed my blog on Checkpoint Station, here it is all together.

Well, working 32 hours straight kinda fethed up my hobby plans... STILL have to base the thrice god-emperor damned sergeant.

Painting some Infinity Moderators, trying to get my squad/team of 5 done before moving back to something a little simpler/easier. Though really... they're easy to paint because of the sharp/crisp details, but there are a lot of those. They aren't necessarily 'busy' though they do lack the charming simplicity of some of my mantic stuff.

May also work on magnetizing some enforcers and I've got to round up some ships to bring to an x-wing game.

I just finished assembling my "Masters of the Path" box set for Malifaux.
I have to add that I'm blown away by the quality of Malifaux's plastics. Seriously. Wow.

Meh so I worked on the moderators a bit but my #0 series 7 is misbehaving. It's splitting in half instead of maintaining a good tip. I've got it chilling with some brush soap now and I've got some brush cleaner/restorer too but my concern is between regular soapings and using the cleaner on it overnight the last time it did this.. it's doing it again and in the same way. I'd hate to be out a $20 brush, especially when I've got another kolinsky sable that I've had for better than 10 years. The #1 is acting up too actually... not holding as fine of a tip.

I swear they're just mutinying to keep me from reading my 365/365 goal this year =/

Otherwise I've been going over some GW stuff for a potential trade and musing over which X-wing ships to drag along tonight.

Ouch, that doesn't sound so good. I tend to be all for buying cheap brushes and replacing them as and when they become unusable (after multiple repurposings/trimmings), but I can imagine losing one you paid good money for would be seriously annoying. Hope you get it sorted.

Yeah, they are pretty bloody spectacuar. I reckon they can compete with Infinity metal minis without a question, and are exceptionally fun to paint.

Yeah I won't replace it this time of year, in the spring/summer I'll consider it. I switched to these because I kept buying cheaper 5-6 dollar hobby lobby brushes (frequently half off too) and they would just wear out in no time. They'd get a hooked tip and then split usually. Now that I have the brush restorer I may look into trying some more though.

Finished putting together Icestorm Nomads, the CSU and the ABH that came with N3.

One of the line troopers I had a great deal of trouble putting together and just could not get the wrist to line up with the hand and the gun. I stuffed putty in the joints to get it somewhat close put now it looks pretty awful. Might order a replacement from Shae and try again another time.

They are done now though. Undercoats soon.

Convinced my brother into playing LotR. 500 points, Gondor/Rohan vs Mordor/Easterlings. As we left the game for continuation tomorrow, the Evil force was 1 model away from breaking, the Good force 2 (Breaking is when models start failing Ld and running off the board).

After losing Eomer and Faramir early on, I managed to turn the tide a bit with the rest of a Rohan cavalry charge to assist my flank, and a detachment of Gondorian soldiers buying just enough time for Boromir to take out the last of the Easterlings before the second wave of Orcs hit. I also took the Witch King out with an arrow through the eye from a lowly Ranger, which was awesome (and lucky, 3+ to hit and then a 6-then-5 to wound, followed by the failure of 2 4+ Fate saves).

I've said it before, many times, but LotR is a great game!

Got in my first *official* game of x-wing tonight. I provided all of the minis just to get my use out of them

It was 6 tie fighters v 2 x-wings, a z95, and 2 a-wings. We both lost a ship a turn or so in the first couple rounds of 'jousting', and eventually it got down to backstabber and a lv4 tie vs a single a-wing. I didn't expect to win, but it was pretty doable to keep out of the arcs of the ties for the most part, usually taking a shot every other round or so from a single tie from at least medium range and dodging it easily. Eventually we decided to charge at eachother and set a remaining turn limit but even with that we still had those 3 ships left when we called it. I figure it's a minor victory for empire with 5hp vs 2, he was going to win *eventually* so my first game was a slight loss.

Still fun though. As much as I like the maneuverable a-wings... I'm starting to wonder if i'd prefer heavier ships that would lead to a faster game one way or the other!

Oh I have one, just didn't wanna take the big ships. How are you running yours? I'm almost afraid to take one out w/o ysanne (or w/e) and the captain who eventually gets a point of agility... all of those hull points will get eaten alive with no innate potential to dodge about. Seems like an excellent candidate for determination too. I also like it's dial, pretty versatile for the size! Plus Imperial 360.

But have you flown an outrider? Dat 360 heavy lazorz... especially with engine upgrade (or even leebo crew).

This weekend I will be pulling my old Necrons out of storage and fix them up some. I then plan to work on my Leman Russ and Laser Destroyers for my Steel Legion.

My biggest goal will be working on my ancient FW Baneblade. I hope to get it done soon before my new Thunderbolt gets here. I don't want too many FW projects piling up.

Edit: and my computer decided to double post...

Having (mostly) cleared the floor, I'm moving on to getting various small projects off the workbench, so that can be cleaned and reorganized. Have a unit of 10 Mantic Wraiths with a single basecoat color laid down, an undead standard bearer (mounted) primed in pieces, and 4 of those 5 Forge Fathers that still need cleaning (won't be assembling them before painting, but I can't just put them away without at least prepping them). Oh, and I have more 15mm sandbags to sculpt and apply - making some modeled 'dug-in' markers for the two small FoW armies (just the contents of Open Fire, for the moment) I haven't even planned to start painting. Priorities, eh?

Also have some stitching to do on a leather project, so I can finally start the wet-forming. Wrong hobby, I know, but it uses the same time and energy so it seemed appropriate to add to the 'hobby queue.'

Completed my end of a bits/models swap so I'm looking forward to getting a package in the mail soon. I also received my 3 cans of apparently-hard-to-find favored spray sealer so I should be set for awhile now... Of course that means I've got to get some more models painted!

Finally got my order in for my 50 mm bases, as they came back in stock.

Cleaned up more models in my swarm box. I'm so tired of cleaning models. That's all I've done for the last 3 or 4 times I've taken the box up to the shop. Oh mold lines...how do I curse thee...

Also spent some more time messing about with the carnifex body... When you glue in one of the plates it just doesn't fit in at all. You get one side glued in nice and tight and have huge gaps to fill in with greenstuff on the other. (I understand it's like a 4th ed model, so the mold is just old and warped at this point. Nice looking model though.)

Finalized my week 1 list for our escalation campaign at our FLGS. I get to turn that in tomorrow and play our initial games.

Also glued my slightly busted initial warrior set from the fire back together, as much as I can. I'm missing one tail bit from the prime and the base in the house somewhere. (Not that the base matters, as this is the set i'm rebasing to 50s). Cleaned off my plastic bits boxes that have all the magnetized warrior and venomthrope pieces in them, and phewwww, I haven't smelled burnt flaming from the apartment fire last summer in months. I think I'd almost forgotten what that smelled like.

YES, I'm very pleased.

Indeed, looks like the best codex since Tau or Eldar.

Today, I got my hand on the codex and wrote a 5000 pt list for the Apo battle next Saturday.
Mainly Decursion detachment with some formations made out of 15 Wraiths, 3 C'Tan, Obelisk, two Monos
and additionally 3 Barge Lords and 2 Destroyer Lords.

Gonna see if I can get a couple of games of... something.. in, we'll see what they're playing at the library today.
