FINALLY overcame the obstacles to painting decent flesh tones.

The solution was that I really need to pay attention to one miniature at a time, like the Rohirrim Horses.

And I got my element-based command group (Hoplon allows for commanders to be based either like other troops, or on a base/element of their own, like in FoG) for the Hithaeglir Orcs/Goblins (or, rather, two of them).

Now... I just have bits, a few weapons, and armor (and touching up a few dropped figures) to do to finish the unit.

Four other units are in states where they can be rapidly finished if I just remain patient with the skin.

I want to get to the Wolf-Riders.

Even better.... I want to get my LotR stuff done so that I can do a Hyborian themes undead army,

Started to get the rules and missions together for the RTT at Saturday:
No superheavies, no mounted D weapons, no unbound, no apoc formation, no proxies.
Everything else is pretty much allowed.

Haha, painting mishap?

I wish it would have just stayed back at dipping with woodstain, as I certainly am not mastering anything, let alone NMM

Today's work. - I've nearly finished her, but there's still some bits and pieces to go. - For some reason, my vallejo blue ended up retracting a bit or something when drying, so I need to tweak her trousers a little.

I've also got a bit of highlighting to do and somehow, someway, in some form, fix her face.

Sadly I think the guns always going to be a bit of a mess, it never really was too paint-friendly. However, considering they're basically a board game piece, I think I've done alright.

I'm also about to type a phrase I never thought I would. Also, "I drybrushed a wookiee tonight."

Just ordered a Slave 1 and Millennium Falcon from Miniature Market today, finally back in stock! They only got 100-200 of each so if you've been after one... better get at it.

Also been fiddling with my battle systems terrain, trying to get that sorted out.

Those models are really fancy, and while I don't begrudge them their scale, its put me off of buying any as they won't play nice with my other toys.

I think I've just about got my battlesystems layout sorted... its kind of fun and kind of annoying to work with the stuff. I'll take pictures later.

Just browsing through dakka.
Looking for some decent army lists.
Couldn't find any at the Army Lists board.
Better looking at Battle Reports. They are not only on paper.

true, some of them are delicate as hell, and quite a few have made me swear trying to get them put together
but once i finish them up, it hits me right in the inner child that watched most of them in cartoons, plus trying to get them to turn out decent has really forced me to work on improving my brush control and detail work

Yeah, I imagine they're quite a challenge, yet fun, to paint. I just wish they weren't liable to tower over all of my other models, I'd have lots of civilians and criminals to go with them

i must say, i think its the first model line that made me go "thank god, only a two piece model"
while you might not be able to use the models themselves, some of the accessory stuff looks promising, like the swat van and dumpsters and the like

WOOOKIE!

Took my Necromancer pulp alley league out to battle against the gorilla gangsters tonight. The gorillas had just looted a mad scientist's lair and were attempting to escape with the secrets/formulas/research notes/etc but the Necromancer sent his forces to intercept them so that the spoils may be put to better use.

That mission is kind of hard for the attacker to outright win, as you've got to get the objectives all the way across the map. Even though you start with 3/5 in your possession (and the primary is worth 3 points rather than 1), the defender automatically wins any objectives that didn't get exported.

So, when I won the initiative roll thanks, in part, to my leader's ability to gain contact points (one of which allowed me to roll a higher die type for the test)... I took the option to declare my opponent as the attacker, and played the stalling game. Most of my guys were down before it was over, and I'm kind of concerned as to if my party could have won at a straight fight... but all I had to do this game was keep his guys from crossing the finish line, so to speak. I focused on tripping up his loot-carrying allies with challenge cards as they rushed along the perilous sewer half of the map (the scientist's lair didn't really come into it as they had already crossed into the sewers by the time we were close enough to fight).

Careful manipulation of the initiative helped me to pile up my zombies and skeletons, who had decent success at holding down the weaker gorilla characters. Since my leader was only at the level of a sidekick (part of the mastermind perk, trade big boss for more minions), there was basically no one to oppose Da Boss... but at the same time, Da Boss is the only one who managed to escape the sewers in time. This gave my opponent 3 victory points, but his mad dash for the finish exit left him unable to snag one extra objective on the way out for the win. So I got a minor victory by 1 point.

I'll have to see how the Necromancer's forces do in a more straightforward mission... but I think the objective taker characters can still do just fine at rushing and capping objectives, they'll just have to be careful of getting bogged down or shot to death. I think I may also consider switching two of the skeletons or zombies minions/followers out to get one stronger ally.. probably just an armored skeleton or something.

Temptation

A heavy mist settles about the forest as you travel in silence. A pained expression crosses Diala's features, more than just the sorrow of returning here.

There is a darkness here, all of you can feel it. As you draw near the place where Diala's master died, ghostly figures, your foes of past and present, rise out of the mist and attack!

Upon opening the door, in the darkness stands the ghostly figure of Shu Yen, Diala's master. "Diala, please!" He cries. You must come back!"

Screaming in agony, the spirits form changes, flowing outward and taking the shape of a familiar, terrible foe.....

Warning. Spoilers

Spoiler:
Screaming in agony, the spirits form changes, flowing outward and taking the shape of a familiar, terrible foe.....

Spoiler:

Upon seeing this, Diala releases a cry of sorrow and leaps forward to attack...

Spoiler:

You all awaken some number of hours later upon the forest floor. You don't even recall falling unconscious.

The mist is gone, but an eerie sense of darkness remains. Though no one seems harmed, you cannot shake the sense that some opportunity was lost here...

Finished the LED wiring on that tank, and I also made a paperweight.

Sadly, the battery pack's switch broke, so I had to order a replacement from Blood and Skulls. (My fault, not his companies.)

Edit: Why the Feth is it sideways? It is right on my computer and on my phone. It should have uploaded normal too.
