Assemble my Hector Rex that arrived in the mail yesterday, and clean up my workspace. I've got bits, random models, and just... stuff, all over my desk, empty packaging/boxes stacked up in a huge pile, and a totally full trash bin. Time to do some upkeep.

Started working on a rocky hill, last night. Terrain is crucial when you don't even play, right? Makes much more sense than cleaning your desk or making progress on your numerous WIP projects... At the very least, this is the last piece that can possibly fit on the (now dedicated) terrain shelf of my display cabinet, so hopefully I'll either stop here or go into full swing, interspersing terrain into all of my display shelves, displacing unpainted models with finished terrain. I've wanted a fully painted cabinet for some time and may have discovered a shortcut!

First layer of filler is now dry, plugging all of the major gaps between foam chunks and the pine bark of the one rocky face, so I'll be doing some more shaping and smoothing before I start placing the larger scatter and texturing. My snow application method is much improved, after three forest bases, so this piece should progress pretty quickly once this next stage is over, with perfectly passable results.

Finished cleaning all of the mold lines off those half-forgotten and buried Forge Fathers, too, so I may prime them up in preparation for a quick and dirty paintjob. First experiment with hairspray paint chipping went well, so I may strip the (top layer, which isn't quite the right color, of the) test piece and continue painting the trukk, too, if my energy holds up.

Time to eat, walk the dog, then get stuck in!

At the risk of getting distracted yet again, I've been doing a bit of cleanup on my Icestorm and other PanO Infinity models. While I'm happy enough with the original paintschemes on some (less so on earlier stuff), they've taken a few knocks since I painted them the first time and needed a little neatening even then.

It's the Orcs that have brough my homemade Fantasy stuff to a halt; even when not green, I think I have a mental block when it comes to Heroic Scale Orcs!

Need to crack on with some more LotR at some point as well.

Having finally popped out, test fit, and glue-treated the large majority of my battle systems wall pieces and scatter terrain... I'm laying out the interior of my first major 2x2' building/complex.

I'm finding that my second floor railings are kind of impeding my mass decoration of the walls.. but I'll figure something out.

Already having ideas for the next build but I really want to set up a bunch of minis and take a crapload of photos. And maybe run an AI scenario or two just because

I picked up a BTR-80 recently so thought I may as well paint it. Its not finished yet obviously, but I've altered the toy slightly by adding some makeshift grills to it like in the image below. Its already mostly painted, but I'm pondering adding some spaced armour to the turret to bulk it out a little as it seems so titchy. I'm also pondering whether I added enough stowage. It varies, but they really seem to have a thing in Ukraine for shoving as much crap as they can on the back of those things (cardboard boxes are a favorite, particularly so they can be strewn everywhere when one of these things takes a hit).

Cried slightly, then ordered some more bits...

Must be something in the paint fumes, or the smell of fresh plastic thats addictive.

Oh! And finally painting something other than Orcs/Great-Goblins.

I have started finishing off my Rohirrim.

I have 36 Rohirrim Heavy Cavalry prepped, and 18 of them nearly finished, and 12 Rohirrim Light Cavalry prepped, with nearly half of them finished.

I just need to get the last 18 Rohirrim Heavy Cav prepped, and the bases prepared (I use different bases than the GW bases, as I already have 18 Rohirrim painted for the SBG - these are for massed combat), the 12 Royal Guard Horses finished - and their bases, and the 24 Irregular Éothéod cleaned and primed to have the whole army prepped for painting.

Seriously sleep-deprived, but I made some more progress on my hill (the two are unrelated) and primed the spehss dwarves. Don't know if I'll have the energy and presence of mind to hobby (it's a verb if I want it to be) after work, but if I do, texturing the hillside is next on the list.

I've done that.
If you could do more of it when I'm sleeping, that'd be ace. <3 I'm sick of finding resin dust in the folds of my combats.

Today I've finally felt like I've got somewhere with this repair.

Apparently, "my brain itches and my eyes burn" time is prime hobby time. Texture applied, sealant drying (I've fallen in love with my little 'scenic cement' pump bottle, by the way - spritz, stick over a heating vent to dry, and walk away for an hour, then BOOM, done!), various minor steps taken in other projects. Paint comes next, then snow, then my hill is done!

If I can decide on a scheme in time, I may spray a basecoat on the FF squad, too. No plans to expand on them for starting Warpath or DZ, so I can afford to go funky, if I so choose. To the Google image search!

And no, BeAfraid. Sleep is the enemy of hobby. Sleep is the hobby killer. You must face your sleep and pass through it.

Couldn't agree more. Many times I'm "in the zone", the painting is going spectacularly, I'm feeling good and... I have to stop because it's nearly 1:30am and I will have to wake up in 5 hours for work

Well, today I hope my Librarian gets some more of my love again. Almost done, only missing some more detail highlighting, then base, then free-hand and BOOM, done!
