Had a productive couple of days, knocked out the 4 non-AWOL Harlies, a Dark Apostle and 5 Cultists.

I'm now out of primer, though, but I did get a few more CSM primed before it expired.

Blocking out colors on a Helbrute test model as I'll be doing 10 of these eventually.

Going to need to figure out how to get that ghostly warpfire/balefire glow on the flames as it is a thematic element I plan to carry throughout the army.

Slowly getting the hang of priming again, though as you can see, the marine on the right got a bit overdone...

Really pleased with this one though...

Found the missing Harlequin! He was in my Chaos Cultist Spares box for some unknown reason (quite possibly involving gravity and an overfull desk...), but has now been restored to his proper place in the painting queue.

Speaking of cultists, I've converted another half a dozen to avoid duplication. I just need finidh my Brute conversions and possibly put together a Sorcerer to finish off the warband, then I'll see about an Inquisition force to oppose them.

I really like your chaos stuff, and glad to hear you found your cultist!

I received my misguided miniature market order today, it pays to live only an hour and a half or so away...

I saw Imperial Assault for 40% off and decided to pull the trigger on it. But then I was offended by the though of spending $10 on shipping so I instead spent 45 more on X-wing game aids (mostly one of those swanky mouse mats, and it's fancy)... Like I said, mistakes were made

The detail and casting quality seem pretty high on the IA minis, though I'd almost say they're more along the lines of 30-32mm scale than 28. Somewhat tall/lanky models, they won't fit in 100% with my deadzone minis, but I think they'll be close enough to share shelf space and guard duty.. just across the hall from eachother

Looking forward to seeing you work on IA. I was tempted when it first appeared, but the repeated poses and (in the UK) hideously expensive expansion packs put me off, along with the fact that half of the minis you need for the campaign were in fact paper chits, and to get all of them as actual minis would have doubled the overall cost!

If I was able to get it at 40% off, though, mistakes might have been made indeed, for decent SW minis to paint if nothing else. Speaking of which, I'll be keeping an eye out to see how you tackle Stormtrooper armour, my large-scale ones have been driving me nuts!

Probably gonna prime them white, paint black in the appropriate places, and then dip. Its basically all I do

Spend more time on the characters probably.

Fair enough!

I've just been going mad the last week trying to get smooth, non-grainy white with some kind of detail in 54mm scale, and so far come up with nothing at all that bears scrutiny from under 3 feet away!

Yeah white sucks. I tried doing it "right" or whatever on my corporation marines and it took forever and only looked OK at best. Now I just leave white alone and dip it. In some extreme cases I may highlight the edges back to pure white after the dip but typically I don't bother.

Good enough for tabletop, if I want it to look better than that... I usually avoid white

I tried airbrushing...

Erm... Lets just say, airbrushing is hard...

It kinda worked ok for the building, ish. But I was trying to do the white for the stormtroopers and it went urm... Badly.

I left the middle guy sort of half done, just to compare how terribly it went.

White does that :/

Thin it harder and go for more layers

That's the thing, I thought I had thinned it so much that the air seemed to be blowing the paint over the model...

But maybe I was too close? I was only maybe an inch or so from the surface.

As you can guess, I really new at this!

Haha, airbrushing should be done from about 20cms away, so five inches, at about 15-20 PSI. Paint should be milky consistency and applied in really barely perceptible layers. If you get it thin enough it shouldn't take long to dry between layers

I have been slacking since last Sunday (damn you World of Warships and others! *shakes an angry fist*)

Today I hope to resume the painting of 5 more skitarii rangers. I - HATE - assembly line painting, but it does seem to make it go faster and kinda fits with the Adeptus Mechanicus theme

Cleaned off some more minis, have lots of shiny guardsman and squats waiting for priming now. Have also been doing some basic sand and glue basing on the marines I've already stripped, as well as continuing to prime the marines. I'm getting the hang of it now and have quite the little production line going.

I started on the second floor of the large urban building that I'm making as part of my Fallout stuff. I'm seeing issues with my original design, but its not as if I can change it now anyway (and not like anyone looking at the finished product would notice). Everything's still really rough, but I'm just laying out all the floor plans first before I start with the details so I don't wind up taking forever with this thing. So that's two floors started, with one more to go plus the roof. Getting there.

Lol that's kind of my problem. One of my 40k friends told me that if I wanted to paint stuff quicker I was going to have to give up the electronic crack. Problem is, half the time I'm just cruising Dakka Dakka rather than playing video games...

To stay on topic I have a Heldrake that I'm putting together, and I am finishing up my DW Knights for the April Painting Contest.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

This! QFT.

I'm two updates behind on my plog. I have them done, I just hate messing with the gallery...

Anyways, speaking of. I have nearly finished the rear of my scratchbuild tank and a small altoid tin bunker for my battletech for the LOER contest. Hopefully I can paint my veteran figure before the month ends...

Working on an op-force for my CSM for Inq28/ITEN, a combination of an inquisitorial kill team and the shattered remnants of the uprising. So far I've got a 5-man Guard/PDF unit, a 2-man-1-Ogryn Arbites team and a selection of Imperial Assassins. I might see about adding some Deathwatch for some more muscle to oppose the CSM themselves, or I might just use the GK squad I painted recently.

Bought a load of paint, and have painted my first mini in years. Just like riding a bike really, there's a little tidying up to do, and I need to go over some of the detail. But overall I'm pleased...

One more down, one more gribbly to clean (in the first arbitrarily sized batch of figures). A weak (re)start, but the return to normalcy has begun! Hope to keep the vague reports of my meager progress flowing.

Well, got carried away a bit, and Arbites ended up with a squad car. Well, I'm not sure that describes it; can you still call something a car when it has a dozer blade, two grenade launchers, an autocannon turret and a flamer for a hood ornament? Or has it become a tank at that point?

Either way, a coat of paint and it'll be ready to purge the living daylights out of some heretics..

Simple, Paradigm: If its wheels have tires that touch the road, it's a car/truck. If its wheels touch treads, its a tank. If some do the former and others the latter, it's a half-track. There are plenty of modern armored cars that are more heavily armed and armored than early tanks!

Yeah, technically it's a car. I was just remarking that it is kind of selling it short to call this thing car when it has more firepower than most Space Marine tanks! I think it's machine spirit might get offended by such a humble classification!

Then again, this is 40k. Even cars get enough guns to level a small town and no one looks twice!
