Working on my entery for Paradigm's Monthly Painting Challenge. It's going well, for now at least.

A couple of photos for what I'm working on, do you guys favor the taller or shorter domes?

Spoiler:

For what it's worth I like the look of the taller domes. it also seems like it would be easier to move minis around underneath them?

At first i thought magnetizing the onagers weapons was going to be hard, but it ended up being pretty easy.

Put the finishing touches to 2 more minis; a CSM and a Death Cult Assassin, bringing me to 290 for the year. With any luck, I'll hit the big 300 within the next couple of weeks.

Debating what to enter into the Fast and Furious comp:

- Ravenwing Bikers
- A few more DCA
- Ravenwing Land Speeder
- Possibly a CSM Raptor
- whatever else I find in the bits box...

I'll probably end up ordering the scum stuff by default. I wanna see a bit more of the cards/mechanics for the other two before I get them though. If they help make some of my existing ships more fun/useful, then I'll probably get them even if I don't *love* the aesthetics, but otherwise I may let them pass.

A squad of Assault Marines for my homebrew chapter that have been basecoated and not much more. A squad of first generation ork-genestealer hybrids for my Green Brood that just need a bit of edge highlighting and are done. And a squad of Possessed CSMs that have been barely started.

Having to clean and prime another 16 Thunderbolt Mountain Greater Goblins, as the organization of two of my units changed (from embedded archers, to a rear rank of supporting archers).

Aye I had fun laying out some of the terrain that I've came up with this past month out. I rarely manage a game, and even then the lighting where I play is horrible. I thought then that I'd take a picture of some stuff together for the benefit of people who can't be there to see it all. Meh, I'll post some more pictures in my Fallout thread (shameless plug, plug, plug...), but have that at least for tonight.

Oh! And priming replacement Orcs/Goblins for two units that I changed the composition of.

They used to have archers embedded in each element, but I decided to change the element types from the DBX equivalent of Blades (the rules I use, Hoplon allows for their equivalent of Blades, called "Swords" to be dual-armed with a missile weapon, as do the rules Fields of Glory for Medium Infantry to be armed with what they call a *Bow which allows for a minor amount of bow fire from a primarily melee unit) to having a row of Supporting Archers behind the unit, and to change them to what Hoplon[bi] calls Barbarians, Fast (DBA/MMs's Warbands, F and [b]Fields of Gloriy's Heavy/Medium Infantry with the Impact Foot Close Combat ability.

This narrows their frontage from 4 elements across and 2 deep, to 3 elements across and deep (which means that I needed one figure for each element to replace the bowman/orc, and three figures per unit to add an additional element).

And then I needed one additional boworc to fill out the row of supporting archers (which will rarely be used, as they only tend to be used when charged, which the Orcs are rarely going to let happen, since they are classed as Impetuous.

They won't be trying to charge any Rohirrim, as the rules allow them to ignore Knights or Cavalry for Impetuosity, but against Arnor, Gondor, Dale, Elves of Any Kind, or against the First Age Edain, or Second Age Hill-Men, they are rarely going to get to use the archers.

The rules do allow for the Archers to act as an independent detachment though, and move out in front of the unit (thus slowing down their impetuosity, by cutting off their LOS to the enemy, but a unit of 3element of Archers is not going to do much more than keep an enemy disordered for a turn or two (until they charge and destroy the Archers).

But....

Cleaning Thunderbolt Mountain Heavy Great Goblins and Archers (I wish that Tom would make some freaking Heavy Archers - The current ones are sculpted such that doing any conversion work on them would not be much different than sculpting an entire Damned orc).

Oh! And I am picking cat hairs out of the primer as they dry.

Much simpler with the Tamiya Primer, since it is not as Cakey as primers like Krylon. So the cat-hairs don't get embedded in the primer, but turn into floppy sticks of primed cat-hair that come off with a quick bushing with a stiff, broad filbert brush.

Got in a few 50 pt games of x-wing trying to help my opponent decide on a list to take to a doubles tournament later in the month.

Dual warthog y-wings managed to score a couple of victories but my solo Kath Scarlet managed to get herself shot down by a 'fat' Horton Salm. Didn't help that she ate a maxed out proton torpedo early on and took another pounding from the advanced proton torpedo later in the game
