I managed to fix my airbrush!

It turns out the nozzle was clogged. Not the proper, fancy nozzle bit that if clogged, I'd be utterly stuffed. Luckily it was just the standard metal nozzle cap that had a bit of paint on it which was messing it all up.

So yeah, I've airbrushed some stormies now and had some white paint left over in the airbrush, so had a go at doing my Deadzone Strider.

I'm not any good at this whole thing, but I think my plan for now is, put some Nuln Oil black wash all over him, then try airbrushing him again, a little more carefully. How does that sound?

On other news, I tried to be clever a while back and bought 2 chaos black undercoat cans, I cracked open my second one now and urgh... I think I've left it so long the paint seperated from the gas. All it does is split out blobs of paint now.

I pretty much spray white and then dip. Washing is similar to dipping so it ought to work.

Doing more over that will probably make it look nicer. I don't have enough skill to do too much with mine though so I stick to white+dip personally.

Making a bunker entrance for Fallout. ...Because I donno someone must have said something in my thread or something. Can't remember, but I'm making it now. =P

Ah hell it was The Road! Damn I even left that DvD in the bloody image (#professionalism). Youknow that one scene where they find the bunker? No? Ack whatever.

I also started on a Vault Dweller wearing a Radiation Suit too. Who knows where that bunker goes...?

Neat, but now you're going to need the caves and vault interior too... give a mouse a cookie...

Worked on some Enforcers today. I probably have 6 more done aside from a few touch-ups, but I'm doing the first and last batch of my 30 enforcers with all of their options. The 20 in the middle will just get riles OR cc weapons prepped and painted, the rest of the spare bits will get boxed. Still got a bunch of arms to paint, worst part about magnetizing is all of the extra options still need painting

Once upon a time, in days of yore I had a guy making this for me. ...Then he went awol.

Knowing that I could have had something like that has sort of put me off even attempting to make it all myself.

I think I am having some proper airbrush success now.

I might go for some 'praxeti white' dryrbrushing next on the actual armour plates, but I think it's got a good mix.

The goal is to have it look like this at the end:

A Brother Vinni Vault Dweller mini. Check out the Nuclear Sandbox section on his site (or just wait for a company like Hasslefree to release an actual Handsome Jack model, they already have a few Borderlands minis).

I've finally completed the 5 Skitarii Rangers I've slowly been painting... Gawds, I swear, assembly line painting just kills my love for painting.

Now, I'll probably have to decide what to paint for this month's contest and start working on it. I need a break from the Rangers. I have 4 more to paint but those are in standby for now.

Althran is done, his base (and assorted fleeing scared-gakless Skaven) is complete and the whole thing is assembled. Massive pic dump incoming to the blog, and I'll probably post him in Showcase as well.

Next question is what to do now? The next mini I paint will be my 300th for the year, so I want to try something at least moderately special, and I'm eager try get some more NMM practice as well. At the moment, it's a toss-up between a Skaven warlord and engineer, starting on my larger HE diorama, or possibly some older Fantasy models.

I also ordered Wrath of Ashardalon, which should arrive at the weekend. I'm toying with setting myself the challenge of getting the whole set done in a month or so (which will bring me almost to my goal of 365 minis in the year!)

Don't feel too stressed about wasted time. Sometimes we just need to rest up.
I hope whatever you did, you enjoyed it.

Tonight I'm machine embroidering golden aquilas for the cuffs of my Mordian IG costume, and trying not to lose my temper at hand sewing a red stripe down some blue trousers. I need it to be secure enough to last a day, but simple enough to just snip off, because I really don't want a permanent blood stripe on my day-to-day trousers. I'm already feeling a guilty enough repurposing bits and pieces of old militaria. Plus I'm not rich enough to own designated cosplay pants.
It's going alright. I'm knackered but I'm staying up way too late because I'm restless. Some incrediby gakky news, and my mother fell down the stairs and broke her arm this morning. I know she's fine, but the whole thing has left me on pins (ironically, for a tailor). If she'd gone sideways we could have lost her.

Wife bought me the Planetfall starter. Have pulled all the models out and am starting to clean them. Very few mold lines and the only flash I've found has been on the edge of the integral bases that most of the units have.

I hear you dude! That's part of what is holding me up on painting my Raptors for the monthly competition! As for what I'm doing today (actually, its already nighttime where I live), I am continuing to work on the aforementioned Raptors. God, that is a lot of trim to paint! I know when it's done I'll feel pretty awesome about it though!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 13 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels

Lets just say, many mistakes were made yesterday.

Not only did Star Wars: Armada wave 1 come in but other orders arrived too, particularly my X-Wing IG-2000's and The League of Shadows, led by Liam Neeson for Batman. It took most of yesterday and this morning assembling them all.

Discovering that Word documents can experience lag too...

Making up a sheet to used to make bits of loose office paper, etc to stick about ruins in Fallout. Because there's so many images on one sheet and I haven't bothered to resize them as I didn't think that'd be a problem the program's becoming unresponsive and crashing repeatedly. One of the images is of Morgan Freeman, so maybe that has something to do with it...?

Edit:

Aye I wound up just starting the whole doc from scratch and downsizing all the images to 10% of their original size. Its not as if at this scale the detail loss is really noticeable (and if it is put that down to the age of the paper and the elements. Its surprisingly they aren't just shreds).

I have my own one here that I'm forever forgetting to update (my internet's crap, so the folder I have that isn't uploaded is now larger than the one that is...). There was over a thousand images in there last that I can remember, but I've added to it here and there since. Ah, so yup, just in case there might be something of interest in there given the extent of it (its mostly Fallout and video game related stuff, but I suppose they'd do for pop culture references).
