Not sure. Lost track a while ago.

Just got home from the Origins Game Fair here in Columbus, OH. Bought me some more X-Wing stuff (two packs of Imperial Aces 30% off! But one of the Interceptors broke.... gotta reglue).

Heading back tomorrow to sell my Chaos Marines and Space Marines stuff. Then gonna buy me a bunch of crappy IG stuff to either fix up or use as terrain for my future table.

Sprayed some Army Painter Pure Red primer on my DV Helbrute. Only problem is I may have messed up some of the details (I'm not very good at spraying properly). Also sprayed one of my Chaos Rhinos (the other one is still in the box) and my Heldrake. I may not actually paint the Heldrake soon, but it already looks better all bright and red!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Painting an Eyebot from the original Fallouts and I've started working on painting the diner that I was making too. With the diner its going to be a while yet before I finish it as I still have to make all the details like bits of signage, furniture and the other guff. Hopefully at least I'll have it done by next Tuesday so that I can possibly run a tabletop game of Fallout just after the Bethesda E3 conference for the latest game goes up.

Being very excited to have a REAL wet palette, instead of using a cookie tin with a sponge.

It makes a TON of difference to the consistency of the paint.

After using it for a few minutes, it made me realize why I used to prefer paints with a regular top to them, and not the dropper bottles.

I must be using mine wrong, it always either makes the paint runny or has no effect, and it doesn't keep anything good for days let alone weeks, even if I snap the lid down shut.

That diner looks amazing though That's some tenacity painting those checkers... I think I would have had to print the texture out or something.

Working on my Karl Franz model off and on... got a bunch of things to do around the house this weekend that detracts from this:

I could have gone to a doll's house shop and just bought the thing. ...But, ah, I'm lazy. Lazy to the point that I give myself extra work that is. Painting it at least gives me more versatility in what I can with it all in terms of dirtying it up.

True about the weathering.

I think we're the same kind of lazy I park at spots far away from the entrance because they're easier to find, I consider this lazy although most people would think parking close to avoid walking would be considered as such.

Painted a couple of storm troopers last night, gonna try to do some more tonight but it was rather hot and I'm all tired and stuff.

When I lived in TN, during the summer months, you'd see clusters of cars around the trees in parking lots, no matter how far they were from the door. People were hoping for that small bit of shade to "cool off" the car before they got back.

Got an awesome dakka deal on another Planetfall starter. Models are built, mold lines on bases (and the couple of minis that had minor flash) removed and everything's been washed and dried to remove mold release.

Headed to go buy some cheap flat black paint to prime 'em all up.

So, I've been working away on that lot and I'm making real progress now. Today's main effort was assembling the two biggest models in that collection there.

The one on the left there is a 30mm scale version of the PHR Ares Walker (the walkers on the far right). The legs were fully poseable, so getting them together took me most of the evening. In any case, he's looking rather awesome now.

Now... the guy on the right there. He is, in fact, in the standard Dropzone Commander 10mm scale. In other words, flipping HUGE as far as the game is concerned. He's the United Colonies of Mankind Phoenix Class Command Gunship.

In other words, take a SPECTRE and combine it with an AWACS and you'll have a sense of how this guy should work...

Also, on Friday night, I did an intro game of Dropzone Commander to a mate, using my new PHR army. - One of the neat things about the game is that all the starter sets, which are also the core models you need in any force, pretty much, are all equally balanced against each other, so can just 'slot in' to the starter set game. My playing was pretty disastrous - I go through these periods of terrible play every few months. Suffice to say, I was VERY glad I wasn't playing my Imperial Assault campaign on Friday.

So, I went for something different day. After days of assembly, I figured I'd try some airbrushing again.

Seems quite good, but I can't help but have the sense that I've gone to the effort of airbrushing something into the same colour the original plastic was in...

And the tricky part with those... is that there really isn't much else to do! I'm looking at mine right now trying to decide what else to do with it... I think I may find some bits to pick out with a slightly darker grey just to break things up, maybe the weapons. Gonna dip mine to get the panels and rivets and stuff showing up better but it's really gonna be one of the quicker models for me in the set.

Speaking of the set, I've gotten some more done lately, most of this will have been from today or last night:

Of course most of those have so little work its a joke. They all also need dipping, should really pull the details out on some of them.

Now I've just got 6 storm troopers, 2 e-web gunners (or whatever those are), two fangly beasties, the AT-ST, 3 heroes, and luke. I guess it's more than I thought, but still pretty happy with the progress.

Awesome! I was thinking of doing that for my Elite stormtroopers too, I wasn't sure how it'd end up looking. and I think that really works.

I'm thinking I'm going to be putting a wash over it. - I was originally planning Nuln Oil, but looking at that picture, I'm thinking either Gryphon Sepia, or Agrax earthshade. Then I think I'll finish with a lighter grey spray.

I like the shoulder pads, though just to be snarky I'm gonna paint one red pad on all 9 storm troopers just because. I'm not even sure what the typical distribution of normal/elite units is as I've yet to play.

Yeah, won't be too hard to finish the AT-ST, I was a bit worried about the size but there really isn't much extra work to do. As cheap as they are via the named character AT-ST expansion (something close to 15 bucks on miniature market), I've considered getting another (or a couple more) but I do have a reasonable amount of stompy robots from other sources.

May take a break before I start working on the other one.

You have 6 normal Stormtroopers, 3 elite Stormtroopers.

The way the ratios work in the game, is it's either a 50/50 split (EG 2 elite Royal Guard, 2 normal), or it's a 1/3 split (1 Elite Officer, 2 normal Officers).

My plan is to give my Elite Royal Guard a purple trim around the robes (nice idea cutting them off their bases, btw), a red shoulder pad on the elite Stormtroopers.

My Imperial Officers I'm halfway through, but I'm not revealing them yet.

I'm also planning on putting a scarlet red trim around the bases of my Elite models. It's dark enough to merge in with my desert bases, but should hopefully be distinctive enough.
