Mini 365 done. Pics and mega-mini-montage incoming!

If I could get this F-ing doctor situation taken care of (where I did not lose nearly half of every month, and thousands upon thousands of dollars in lost wages piling up) I might get back to that level of productivity now that I have the paint situation taken care of (where I was having difficulty controlling the consistency of the paints).

I don't know about getting a mini done a day (In a perfect world, I can get four to six a day, sometimes more), but I should be able to average more than half of that if I can get this F-ing doctor out of my hair (she will be getting her subpoena for court next week, so it will be fun to see how she deals with a judge telling her she can't just refuse to answer a question).

I need to get the freaking Goblins and Rohirrim finished so that I can begin properly play testing the fantasy options for Hoplon, and I need to get a slew of 15mm Xyston Ancients DBA armies painted to sell (that is what will hopefully pay for my new computer).

I really wish that the "traditional" sizes of miniatures were different.

I wish that it was 10mm, 20mm, and 40mm that was the traditional sizes, rather than 10mm/12mm, 15mm/18mm, and 25mm/28mm/30mm.

But I am instead getting nothing done in the last week, thanks to this evil doctor holding me hostage to her idiotic demands.

Otherwise, I have concept art, Hithaeglir Goblins, Rohirrim, Gondorians, Haradrim, and a slew of 15mm Ancients to get to.

Got to play Imperial Assault tonight. We ran the tutorial twice and the mission Aftermath once through. Games seem pretty quick, we barely knew what we were doing and still got done in a couple or three hours. The tutorial mission seemed pretty heavily skewed towards the rebel players but this may have come from there only being two of us and therefore reduced rebel forces against two heroes.

The first mission aftermath seemed much closer, a badly damaged probe droid managed a nasty hit on Finn Signus putting him in the wounded state and ending the game (rebel loss condition: all heroes get wounded). Finn had just put one of the last two remaining terminals (objectives, 4 total) down to its last wound, so if the droid had failed to wound him.. the rebels may well have stolen the show.

There were lots of interesting moving choices, do I stack my stormtroopers up to get their adjacent synergy bonus, but risk Finn triggering his Havoc Shot and lightly wounding all of the troopers? The answer turned out to be no, usually. You can move before and after attacking, so the storm troopers had some interesting choices in terms of being adjacent to eachother when firing, and preferably ducking back behind cover.

The PCs were just as interesting (probably more so), Finn was a rockstar, havoc shot frequently chewing up whole groups of storm troopers (over a couple of rounds) from the blast damage. His lone wolf ability allowed him to keep pushing himself (and using havoc shot) as long as he didn't hang out too close to Dialla. The jedi(?) outcast couldn't do splash damage like Finn, but between her reach weapon and ability to negate enemy defense dice, she managed to pull off some pretty nasty hits on key targets throughout the aftermath mission.

Neat game, hope to play again soon.

The biggest piece of advice I can give Grimdork is always play with 4 heroes. The whole 2 legendary hero thing just ends up being frustrating and a mess. You have a far better experience by using all 4.

Spent much of this morning skyping with a very patient lass who knows nothing about "War hammers" - tallying a huge eBay lot against the description before she posts it over to me from the USA.

"Okay this one is eating something invisible?"
"????" [Sees photo]
"Oh, he's playing the celtic pipes. Find his arm. "
"Moving on..."

Turns out it's gonna weigh 3lb and she's an absolute saint for helping.

Challenge 2015 FoW, Mid War tomorrow.. so spent the day sorting that out, last of the models I needed were finished at the weekend, however I had some heavy mortars unpainted..

Finished them today, after priming last night, about four hours work in total

Means the older PSC models can be put to one side and these taking their place in the first game for my metal Soviets, alongside plastics from PSC for now.

What was frustrating about having the one or two heroes with the extra HP and activation tokens Compel? I had wondered if that wouldn't be a viable alternative though, just using all the heroes.

I'd think a lot of the missions would feel more 'gamey' rather than immersive. Plus you have the whole Benny Hill situation where, hypothetically, Jyn Odan could move 20 spaces in a single turn. - It'd all kind of feel like a game of checkers or, the main comparison I've heard is 'whack-a-mole'.

Plus it causes all sorts of problems for the missions that kinda revolve around 'Lets split up gang!'

Personally, I wouldn't recommend it.

Woo Humvees!

Woo super lazy pictures! Aye, I started on a Humvee to add to my Fallout stuff. Too early to post in that thread, but hey I apparently think this one has lower standards (which is saying a lot. Seriously I have pictures of murky looking paint water in that thing).

Last night we played the final side mission of our Imperial Assault campaign, Brushfire. - I think I broke the mission a little bit, though, as it became a solid Imperial victory.

My model of the Normandy SR-2 arrived today. - I've been trying to order it for over a year, yet each time, something happened to the order. I'm glad I finally have it now though, to match my Normandy SR-1.

I'm thinking of going into town to finally get my Star Wars: Armada preorder in. - Imperial Star Destroyers and Admiral Ackbar, whoo!

I also need to figure out how to make up an Imperial Assault Skirmish force properly. I might try Rebels, but I'll probably go Imperials just because I'm more familiar with them.

Time to start painting this thing no?

Then I immediately find out that I'm missing some important or other. ¬¬

Aye I worked on the Humvee a bit more last night and this afternoon. Heh, I'm not the type to spend a week just building one model you see, though aye that's probably obvious with the details. Hey I'm not making bloody models trains that are just there to look pretty. Nah if I bothered with every minute detail they'd just be asking to be knocked off during a game sometime.

Curse you E3 and your shiny Doom video. What unnecessary painting odyssey have you started me on now.

Also, won the space penguin for King of Tokyo at the Wargames Workshop MK boardgames day so had to buy myself a copy of King of Tokyo. Which I am going to pretend was a terrible hardship and not completely awesome at all.

I plan on finishing highlighting my dark elder raider. It's the last step. Maybe later I'll add some more details to my kabalite warriors, they look too "simple".

If I have time I'll probably unsprue some stuff I have left to gather a huge box of bitz and try to swim in it.

Trying to get Mudbox 2016 working with my last Goblin Sculpts, so that I can try out my chainmail workflow pipeline.

It would be SO MUCH SIMPLER if I just had an additional 8GB of RAM.

Then I could just flood-fill the areas where I need chainmail with a tilable stamp (which I have).

And... I am noticing that I am out of Army Painter artificial grass tufts in the "Highlands" color, which I need for my Goblins (which are nearly finished).

This shortage of Highland Grass Tufts is a real pain, as it means that I have either to clear off my painting table of all of the Goblin elements awaiting basing, and replace them with Rohirrim that need basic painting, or I just leave the Goblins and work on sculpting until the new Highland Tufts arrive in the mail.

As ever I'm working on a dozen things at once. Going through my ever increasing "to do" pile I pulled out some pieces that were supposed to be for a industrial style building. Now I've decided they're going to be the basement of another building that's going to be raised on a concrete platform. I'd hope to have the basement section finished and the concrete platform started by the end of today, but we'll see what happens. =P

Sounds about like me... last night I finished assembling a box of Empire Knights, so perhaps I'll prime those, along with the box of Putrid Blightkings.

Then, I may assemble another box of greatswords or work on cleaning up the space some more.
