Sorry for being overly pedantic, but unless things have changed since I finished my service 15 years ago, marines don't have medics. Instead Navy corpsmen are attached to marine units to give medic support.
Right, right, and WLG did point that out. I just referred to him as such for the sake of convenience.

Missed that and as I said I was being overly pendantic. And I suppose a marine medic could be a medic that takes care of Marines or a medic that is a Maine and by the former you would be accurate.
Cool project. I should probably have led with that.

Those look fun For which game are they intended (if any)?
Trying to focus on finishing my LoER competition building but I keep distracting myself by oogling the Warmachine Retribution of s-something. Finally found a Warmachine aesthetic I kind of like and I'm starting that cycle of scouting models, trying to feel out lists, making a list of things to buy, inevitably forgetting all about it for months...
Just beginning the cycle though, and they look pretty fun to paint so I may get some anyway.

Bolt Action. I wholly recommend this game for any 40k fan with an interest in WW2. It certainly transitioned me from the GW Hhhobby to miniature wargaming as a whole.

Ahh yes, I thought it might be bolt action but I wasn't sure if there was another use for 25/28mm ww2 stuff. I don't technically dig on ww2 stuff but the models are kind of neat and there's a lot of resources for that period in terms of vehicles and so on. Cool stuff.
And I just discovered the epic/mounted/version 2 of some guy called Vyros who works for the Retribution faction. I'm boned. How could I not want this model, it has a shotgun/sword (same weapon, not both separately, therefore twice as cool as either) eye patch, bitchin steed, and a freaking bird of prey perched up on his shoulder, what a badass.

I've been assembling my latest Batman purchases tonight.
Batgirl proved a bit difficult, but that was mostly because I needed to file away a *lot* of 'stuff' to get her legs together.
I got 2 sets of objectives (I decided that it was getting way too confusing using my standins amongst all my various scatter terrain)
Got myself Nightwing too and the Commissioner Loeb set, mostly because Two-Face needed a sidekick and the GCPD Detective seems useful in general.
Finally, I got this mess of parts.
Which isn't quite as horrific to assemble as I was expecting, thanks to a *really* helpful assembly guide.

So, having been rather annoyed with GW for going on 3 years now, they had actually done a release I was pretty darn chuffed with about. - Citadel Air brush paints. I've been long having trouble trying to find a colour match for Balor Brown (I've mentioned that in this thread enough).
So, last Sunday, I went to GW to get some. Turned out they were mail order only, which wasn't a surprise. No big deal though, so I ordered them to the store.
Turned up today, 6 days later. A Saturday.
"This store is closed until a new manager arrives on the 23rd of September."
Of course, I've already paid for the paints I ordered...
On the bright side, I've been reading my Kings of War book from the kickstarter. I quite like how the world is setup, it's very much pegged as a "here is the setting" sort of situation, as opposed to the more story focussed thing of 40k (and to a lesser extent, Fantasy). There's no imminent threat of immediate destruction, it's all very open for your own stories.
I always kinda felt that was a problem gamewise for fantasy. - I just had this sense that the only place you could really tell your own story was in the Border Princes.
And, 40k, well, whatever story you told, or did, didn't matter. Because either the nids will eat you, The Emperor will come to life or chaos will take over, etc etc.

Maybe they'll eventually release it as an RPG setting, given how close Dungeon Saga will be skating to that genre.
Aside from maybe Mordheim, it never really did seem like you'd have many adventurers running around the WHFB worldmap.
Finished my Taco Mars building, entered photos to the judge for the LoER comp. Fingers crossed, I don't think there are a whole lot of entrants, but those who did enter are out of my weight class
Very nearly have my game room cleaned out, just a last bit of junk to sort. Then all of the stuff that got overflowed into my hobby room will have to be tended to =/
And that's not covering the shelves in the game room either.. they need sorted badly. But, if someone were to pop by to play something (not gonna happen, sigh), I could totally accommodate now.

That's pretty fun Honestly, if I had any crisis suits they'd all be game-illegal and specialized like they were those themed gundams, one would have a ridiculously large gun, another wings and a sword, etc etc.

Frantically making last minute plans to attend a LOTR SBG tournament in 3 weeks time. Last minute, because I'm going on a 2 week holiday next weekend and will get home at midnight on Friday. The tournament is on Saturday, the next day, and its a 3 hour train journey to get there. I have one week to plan this.
have three choices really:
-get home at midnight, get 2 or 3 hours sleep, then get a taxi, 3 trains and another taxi so I can arrive about 8:30, an hour before the tournament.
-or skip the first two games, get a taxi, 2 trains and another taxi and arrive at lunch time, skipping the first two games on the first day, so I can actually get some sleep.
-ask the TO's if I can skip the games on Day 1, arrive at my leisure and have a lazy relaxing day painting and catching up with friends, and just play the Day 2 games.
I'm leaning towards 3.

I'm hosting a Dungeons and Dragons campaign as the DM the following week (which I've never played either as player or DM but someone's got to do it because everyone at my club are RPG newbs). I could really use the afternoon painting minis to prepare for it.
Knowing my luck, my plane and/or trains will be late and I'd miss the first games of the tournament anyway.

That guy. I'm only a couple of episodes in but he seems quite good. Blurting out descriptions left and right, personalities for any NPC they randomly buml into. Either he's been at it so long, or he preps a *lot*, or he just has a nack.
You are talking about the DM right? Still not clear on their names.
But yeah, his party tends to derail pretty often and he doesn't miss a beat keeping up with them, good stuff.
It's a really good skill for a DM to have, being able to fluidly go off the track, out of the notes. Don't worry if you don't have it from the start, it takes some strong ad lib skills and usually alot of practice.

I'm drawing up stats and leagues to use my scifi figures with the pulp alley rule set. The only tweak I've made so far to the rules is to give every character one additional ability to help explain extra-powerful characters like space marines, extra technology and gear in play (another ability makes it easier to differentiate a sniper from a heavy weapons guy), and to make list building a little different from the norm. So far I've got trial lists for my Corporation Marines and Galactic Empire (stuff from Imperial Assault). I'm gonna work on one for my few surviving space marines next and probably move on to some Infinity and other generic scifi.
I've just got so much more terrain, objective markers, and so on. The pulp alley ruleset is really flexible and you don't lose immersion in the scifi setting if you just swap out words like Pulp Alley for Scifi Corridor ( ), League for Strike Team, and so on.
A fun little distraction, I can pick up and set down the rosters a bit easier than I can a painting project.

Sounds cool, Grim! If you do any lists for Infinity or Deadzone would you mind sharing them? PA seems simple enough that you could easily get non-gamers in, unlike Infinity-proper. Automatically Appended Next Post: Got my last Bane guys finished up, so I'm clear on the Batman front (at least until Tuesday when the next batch come in! )
I also spent a while earlier hoarding minis to take away to uni, as supply drops are going to be infrequent there. Got a good mix of stuff, mostly character pieces from various games, that should definitely tide me over in the painting department.
Now I just need to decide what minis I'm taking for gaming. Batman, Infinity and Malifaux will probably all go as they take up next to no space, but I'm not sure yet whether to bother with a 40k or LotR army.
