Is 'Eavy Metal Calling?
|
Took my first HH models for a spin this evening. A team game (groan! We only made it to Turn 3), 3000 points a side, 1000 per player. I had to break my 'painted stuff only' rule to actually get anything on the table worth playing, and in some cases ended up taking them off just as quickly. Final score stood at 7-4 to the Xenos team-up of DE and Necrons, though as the claimer of all 4 of those kill points I don't feel too bad about the pasting my forces took. In the end, I was down to just 9 models, the Vigilator and 2 Vets in a bastion while the Terminators/Praetor plodded forward to finally hit combat and took out a pair of Raiders in one turn. Vigilator just about survived crashing a Night Scythe into his own face, perhaps a somewhat ignominious first kill...
Next week, 750 point 1vs1 games, so I'll aim to have a fully painted force ready for that...

Bit more on my SS, and for a break built 8 termagants, from the stack of 40 unbuilt ones that have been lurking for a while (they failed an IB roll and hid in the back bedroom).

I'm getting my Chaos Juggerlord painted. I have until next week to finish him. Nothing like a deadline to unlock my inner speed painter. I just hope I can make him look decent in a week!

Played an RPG last night of Infinity using Deadlands rules. We tried to cripple a ship so we can board it, ended up surprisingly blowing up its reactor and the flaming ship started falling into the atmosphere of a gas giant. So we had to pilot our ship to match its relative velocity and course, board it, get the package and get out before terrible things happened.

Played a game with my Cyriss vs Khador. The list is somewhere above.
My opponent wanted too much charging Butcher 3 forward against my battle group. With watcher up, my Inverter sent it knockdown. Then he died horribly.

Inverters knocking down casters is a beautiful thing. Last time I played my Cyriss, I knocked down Denny and Iron Mother proceeded to pour firepower onto her. Like clockwork.

I may be able to knock out a couple more units for my KoW army. And then I get to look at the additional 80+ models that needs to be painted.

Then it's pretty much game over although the Butcher was on ARM 24.

Played a few games of the Portal board game, where the cake was not a lie and many test subjects perished. I managed to chain character, card and move actions together to march 4 of my own test subjects into a sentry turret in a single turn and wipe myself out leaving nothing in Aperture labs but my delicious, game-winning cake.
Then played some King of New York, because Godzilla. Being in Manhattan on 19 victory points knowing that you only need 3 of skulls, stars or destruction on 6 dice to win with 3 sets of rerolls and rolling absolultely nada, then being beaten to the game winning 20 VPs by someone else before it came round to my turn again and I auto-won for still being in Manhattan smarted, just a little. Ok, a lot.

painted up the final five GHQ M1 Abrams, just need a bit of varnish to complete.
Also built 20 Termagants, and based them, just need the bases soaking in dilute PVA and to dry before priming.
Then stripped rubbish paint from a Tyrannid Warrior, and a bit more from a seriously over painted carnifex.
Not a bad day really

Painting a starter set for AoS I bought from my buddy last Sunday. He had all the models built but no paint or primer applied.
Thus far, I have the stormcast guys all base coated black and all the chaos the same but started paining on chaos first.
Six of the blood warriors are done as is the warp beast/doggy creature. The khorgorath is nearly done, too. The khorne warrior looking guys are all coated with mephiston red and I'm experimenting with drybrushing.

You should totally show us some pics as you get these models done! I've come close to picking up the AoS starter myself, but I don't want to buy minis that I probably will never end up playing with ( AoS is dead as a doornail at my FLGS as far as I can tell). The models are awesome, though!

Been playing with transfers for my chosen of Abaddon.
Also trying to find a paint job for the face of a marine based around this body:
I really don't like the paint job on this image, have been trying to get an almost glam rock, over the top make up (lip stick, eye shadow, the works) look instead... To be honest it's not turning out great, but it has been pretty amusing to do!

Got 20 termagants assembled the other day to the point of ready for priming, once the wet PVA hardens tomorrow, hope to prime on Thursday.
Also poured a mould for some tree bases I sculpted (badly) on Sunday for some 6mm scale trees so that I can start production of them again hopefully Thursday. Basically got some cheap trees on eBay, don't fancy trying to superglue them to coins so have made small cone shaped bases with a hole in to glue the tree to and provide a bit of a flat base to stick to something. Just need to make some little woodland bases to stick these to.
