So I have to find alternate ways to post photos and updates to my gaming life.

I will be playing a game of 40k this afternoon. It will be my Khorne Daemonkin vs. my friend's Orks. I will also photograph and post pictures of my newly-finished Juggerlord (who will not be participating in this afternoon's game).

Got the Nids I wanted to paint to about where I was hoping, 1x warrior, 2.5 bases worth of rippers and 20 termies through base colours and wash, just highlighting and basing to finish. Not bad for a day.
Also got my last five M1 Abrams in 1/285 varnished so they are done for the weekend (just as well given the 15mm BF models apparently won't be at the shop bar a few resin test ones..)

I got an Age of Sigmar starter set recently for cheap on eBay, and I'm starting to assembl the stormcast models for use in my Space Marine legion. Models in this set are pretty friggin awesome.

Been painting for the last 2 hours solid on my entry for the Nerdcademy Painting Competition (and possibly the monthly challenge as well, if the judges of the former are ok with that), an Iron Hands Standard Bearer. The Power Armour is pretty much done now, but still a lot to do on the banner (going the whole hog with freehand, NMM ect) and the power sword (not quite sure what direction it's going in paint-wise), as well as assorted peripheral details like holsters and grenades and such.
Had 2 games of 40k last night. I was on the losing end of both, but that was in part down to the very limited lists I could do with what I had with me and painted. Game 1 at 750 saw my Legion troops (all 17 models!) take on a skimmer-heavy Dark Eldar army. Until the last turn it was a close thing, but I made the mistake of overextending my Dreadnought early on and losing him, before doing the same with my Tactical Squad in the last turns to grab an objective at which point I was encircled and cut down. Final score, 7-4.
Second, I teamed with Blood Angels against Crons at 1200, again took a beating but my Dread succeeded in tarpitting a squad of 6 Wraiths for the whole game, and my Praetor and a handful of Tacticals did survive deep in the enemy half while my BA allies were pretty much wiped out.
HH lists definitely don't seem tailored for smaller games, next week we're going up to 1000/1250, at which point I should be able to bring something a little punchier (and have my Terminators painted).

Played with my Cryx Asphyxious2 army vs. our Pressganger with his Cygnar Hayley3.
The high def models and units and the electro weapons caused me headache.
I had two chances to kill his caster. Both failed by dice rolls.
Then it ended 1:0 for him.

Good luck.
Team tourneys are fun.
Recently we won such a tourney with Eldar and DE.

I hear this a lot, but have never actually painted a figure white, myself, and I have a number of upcoming projects that will require it.
I know it's sort off topic, but could you briefly recommend any particular paints / approaches to doing it well, or point me in the direction of a link to such advice?

Sorting my old paints out to get rid of the ones that are dried out.
Bought some new ones as well.
Getting ready to paint my first batch of Dungeon Saga Lesser Abyssals.
Dug out the Descent Dragon "boss" mini I picked up just after moving house (he was hiding with some Blood Angels, the sneaky bugger!)
Also totaled my painting for the year. Including scenery and Dungeon Saga furniture, there's 218 pieces so far. Wonder if I can break 300 before January...

Oh, I know! I can already see this getting very expensive! I'm not going to go 'one of everything' mad and I'll probably be avoiding the Scum faction, at first anyway, but I can see myself ending up with all the movie-based ships and a handful of the EU ones (some I really like, other's I really don't!) eventually. They will, of course, all be getting repaints.

I can tell you what I did with R2. Spray primed him with Halfords white primer (Halfords is an auto parts chain in the UK so basically white car body primer), washed him with Army Painter dark tone ink then repainted the higher panels with Privateer Press' white (which has the best pigment density of any white I've tried). Washing with a light grey paint wash would probably have needed less repainting and been faster though.

On topic: I'm continuing to paint Chaos from the AoS starter. All I have left are the blood reavers and only about 10 of them to finish.
On the topic of painting white, I just saw a really cool tutorial from Warhammer TV's advent series.
They show how to paint white scars with recommended techniques and paints.
I know GW aren't many people's favorite but this looks like a good reference on youtube.

Okay, I played that team tourney I mentioned earlier. Me and my playing partner both ran Daemonkin; he had a Kytan, a D-thirster, and two 10-man Bloodletter squads with no upgrades. I had my newly-painted Juggerlord, a 10-man Bloodletter squad with banner and reaper, an 8-man cultist squad, some Raptors with meltas, 8 Khornedogs to protect the Juggerlord, a Hellturkey, and a Soul Grinder. We won the first game (against a White Scars/Space Wolves duo), we lost the second one very badly (to a combo of two Marine lists including a Skyhammer force), and the third we barely lost (Orks and Space Wolves). I had a lot of fun, and my faith was restored in the power of Khorne! I feel like in the games we lost we played a lot better than we scored (in the second game we actually had several more killpoints, but we were too far behind on the other objectives). I also picked up my Kauyon book and my Stormsurge while I was at the store.

I recall seeing a painting white method that used pencils? Something to the point of drawing in the recesses and maybe armor scratches with a pencil.
I do it a lot like Larva, for most white I spray prime white, touch it up, and dip it. Then it gets left alone, grittier but fitting for my painting style. For white-whites like storm troopers etc, i do the same, go back over the highlights and flats with white again.
You can also wash with black ink and painstakingly layer it back up too, did that for my corporation marines and while I think it looks a little bit better... it was a lotta bit more work.
As for my hobbying today... may look over the DS stuff a bit more but there are last minute x-mas gifts to be ordered too...
