Played a game with my 30k WE army and AM against 30k IW and SW, each army 3000 pts, maelstrom. Was fun, we were slightly ahead.

Been thinking more about my Star Wars 'Age of Rebellion' RPG campaign, after listening in to a chat about world building in a DND game as well.

Truth is, I kinda want to avoid the whole 'world building' stuff.

My own general idea is to try to have a handful of main 'locations' for the campaign / mission.

Smugglers artic base where the rebels arrive in.
Maglev train
A small desert-ish town where the rebel sympathisers are located, that will (if the players don't screw up) will house their main base.
Then, finally a citylike Imperial 'continental' capital.

And purposely try to avoid the other continents on the world, particularly where the main Imperial headquarters are. Have a lot of that sort of thing be hooks for future campaigns.

It's kinda a little like how Star Wars: Rebels is mostly based on Lothal.

Where can I get one of those?? My, uh, cousins would love that. Yeah.

Edit: Hey I have that blue-yellow craft knife too! Blue Spot Tools from Boyes, right?

It's this week's MLP magazine. It's in Tesco, Spar and such.

It's a solid vinyl/PVC model, which surprised me.

And yes! Also their masking tape and saw.

Well, world building is where all of deep and interesting things happen

Where you figure out what kind of money people use, what kind of seasons there are, the dialects for people and all that jazz. I mean, you don't necessarily have to build parts of the world you aren't planning to use, but it can take things from vaguely interesting to deeply engaging. It also takes a lot more time and some groups will totally ignore or bypass all of your hard work so there's that.

Nothing much on my end today, need to pick another model or two out of the pile and get started to keep my momentum going.

Played a game with my 30k WE led by Angron and my buddy playing Nurgle Daemons vs. 30k Iron Warriors and Daemonkin. 3000 pts each army, so 6000 pts each side. Maelstrom mission. At the end of the day it was a draw.
Angron is amazing vs. infantry units. He kills all character models due to Red Sands and then my Rampagers and Kharn take take on the rest.

Well, as it's the last day of the year, I've been thinking about what I've painted.

Overall, I've been kinda rubbish at the whole painting thing this year.

I've painted a load of Imperial Assault minis. Well, I say painted... I think I only ever actually *finished* painting maybe 8 of them. The rest have paint on them. Which is a slight difference.

I never did finish painting my UCM Dropzone Commander starter set, which was something that I was supposed to have finished by this time last year. I don't even have any excuses anymore, now that I've got the right airbrush paint colour. I did do a couple of early coats on a decent number of Scourge minis however.

In the second half of the year, I think I painted a grand total of urm..

6 models.

Ok, so, I spent quite a lot of time on those 6 models - Characters for the Batman miniatures Game.

But really, Compel. 6 models?

It's OK....I think I painted like rubbish this year as well.... However, I just got back into the game(s) in June or so, though I was still painting the occasional one off mini since I stopped playing 40k.

Since I've been back though, I've done 40 Empire Greatswords, Karl Franz on Deathclaw (he still needs to get his base finished, and the lion part still needs finishing, but he's "mostly" done), maybe one squad of Vostroyans is close enough to be called "done" though they aren't, and I added another squad and a command squad, plus another Russ, etc.

Like you, I put paint to a lot of things, just didn't finish very many of them.

9 SMG teams, 1 command and 1 commissar team from base colours through gloss and on bases, with superglue curing overnight prior to painting the bases. 4x scout teams & 1x command team finished and table ready. Rest of the Streak box set command teams & snipers preped for painting.

Did have to clear a bit of the table to make space for the old box I use for spraying though, felt dirty putting paints away to make a bit of space, will have to get them out again.

Good day really, only cleaned my brush in tea twice

Got interested in the new GW starter sets. You will save about 30%. The Khorne set looks promising. It can be fully used in a Daemonkin army.

I'll be slapping some paint on my Tau Breachers, and maybe painting the crew of my Stormsurge at the same time. Pity I accidentally bought a second pot of The Fang instead of Russ Gray (now I'll have to go back to the FLGS and get the right paint ), so I won't be able to finish the skin for a little bit.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Decided to dive fully in to what I consider a guilt project (bought something I probably shouldn't have ) and to assuage that guilt I must get the item(s) painted as soon as possible. But such is my great shame that I'm not even talking about it till it's done

My free hand for painting little stars and bars is sharpening though, I'll say that.
