Once I can get some other stuff cleared away I'll be preparing some bases for use. Mostly just applying some pieces of cork sheets to bases.

I sadly tidied up my Batman board tonight. - It was looking awesome.

But, painting must be done and I need the tablespace!

I also need to track down where one of my Imperial Assault Rodians wandered off to... I was painting him a couple of weeks ago and not seen him since.

I was planning on airbrushing tonight, but it seems somehow, my airbrush barrel is clogged.

The thing is, as far as I can figure out, it is NOT the nozzle, or the front of the airbrush but the actual barrel between where the air comes in and the gravity feed. - I think I might have backflushed or something stupid like that.

So, the problem is nothing to do with the paint coming out of the brush but it's more like having problems to get the main body of the needle physically moving. - So if I pull the trigger back, the needle moves incredibly slowly back into position.

In fact, it was INCREDIBLY hard to even remove the needle from the brush in the first place...

I've tried dunking the needle in airbrush cleaner and feeding it through a couple of times. - I'm thinking that's just lubricating it though. - I'm now wondering if dettol or something would help...

Alcohol can sofen up stuck paint, or paint cleaner like Windsor Newton but that stuff can be nasty. Also alcohol will eat up cheaper seals so be careful there.

See if there's anything else you can take apart, but be extremely careful about force, some parts come out of some guns and not out of others...

Also soak in warm water may help. Good luck, they're handy but damn finicky.

Converting a Deimos rhino top hatch to have a combi bolter to sit on the hatch instead of half a combi bolter on each hatch.

On my Black Crusade army I hope to have two rhinos, each with such a hatch, and then 'modern' hatches with no bolter on the opposing side.

Am also considering scratch building (close enough) a rhino from the spare parts that are left over from the deimos kit (so the left and right sides and the front panel is all I have to start with).

Trying to finish my gore riders. Dangerously close!

Got out some marines today, but not sure I want to open that can of worms.

Managed to ork-rig a portable painting light that just gets me by on my mobile painting station MK II. Not my favorite day to paint but it helps me sneak in a few extra minutes a day.

Going to hit the hobby work heavy today.

I've got some gretchin and a runtherd to get ready for this February work.

After I get so much done with those little folks, I'll be working on some Astra Militarum... I'll see how far I can get with them.

Played a 1500 point tournament, went 1-2. Finished 8th out of 16 players, and everyone went home with a prize, so I feel okay (I'm still learning, eventually I'll get better). My prize was the board game Battue: Storm of the Horse Lords. I picked it mainly because it was the biggest thing left after 1st thru 7th picked their prizes (1st place got Space Hulk!).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Going back to finishing some sculpts I started on last year, but forgot about. Besides those though I had a go at making a Russian Spetsnaz soldier (can't remember the name for the particular unit). I may make a full squad if I have the time. I already have plenty of Eastern European militia types and ad-hoc vehicles for them to fight against.

Got my gore riders dipped today. I've still got some work left to do on their regiment base but it needs to dry. I think I may have finally gotten my method down for fantasy bases... but we'll have to wait for this one to be finished and successful. High hopes though.

Operation Dettol was a success!

Basically, I dunked my needle in the dettol, pushed it back into the chamber of the airbrush, pulled it in and out a few times and waited a few hours.

Just goes to show, airbrushing at 3am and forgetting to clean out the airbrush is not a wise thing to do!

Yeah, forgetting to clean your brush after a session can be absolutely devastating... regular maintenance is enough of a pain as it is.

Which is why I stick with a hairy brush instead of one of those contraptions. Sounds like too much work for me, although I've seen that the results you can get with an airbrush are pretty nice. I'll pick one up eventually, I suppose.

As for today's hobby progress, I put the final touches on the Tau Breachers and posted the pics both in the monthly contest thread and my P&M blog. I need to put some brush-on primer on the last bits of the Stormsurge so I can be completely ready to paint the thing, as I intend to begin tomorrow!
