Wales: Where the Men are Men and the sheep are Scared.

Used an airbrush for the first time today. Gonna take some getting used to I think. Also wanna plan what I am going to do with it before the next time I get it out as the set up, cleaning and takedown of it is a lot of hassle so it wil have to be something I have an idea of what I want to achieve with before I use it rather than just breaking it out and winging it.

Finished off Luke and Leia for Imperial Assault. Not particularly well but they'll do. Getting very bored of scraping mould lines off plastic minis now.

Played the final 3 games of DWOK's campaign. I was marines and I got my head handed to me in all 3 of the last missions. Still had lots of fun and the game's got a lot of replayability since you can choose different marine combos for each mission and after you've mastered one force you can swap sides.

I'm finishing my XV-8. Mix of old and new suits...

Talking about the new XV-8 suits... They are so awesome! Posable, with new 'flavor' and shoulder pads...

I'll probably get some more!

So, this is how Iron Man looks right now:

I'd say I followed everyone's advice, but that'd be kinda a lie...

I did the thing, drybrushed silver, watered down the paint, did 3 or 4 layers of the watered down paint.

Then, um, drat.

I wandered off for half an hour and came back, still was unsure and decided, "I'll just try one last layer." Naturally, the water in the palette had been evaporating for half an hour by that point, so the paint had become a lot stronger than it was originally. Still, it doesn't look too bad.

Heck, I'm half tempted to leave him as he is and say, "oh, it's the Silver Centurion armour."

Overall though, I'm going to be using that method if I ever need to do a similar model again, I'm really pleased with the concept, so thanks everyone!

Looking good, even if you have lost some of the effect with that last coat, he still has a nice metallic look. For what it's worth, the same method with a brown wash gives a nice gold.

Finished up the four assassins (except for basing) from Execution Force. I'm going to use my BaC Wordbearers to save me from painting 3 Chaos Marines and the Sorcerer dude. If my Overkill GSCs had pistol guys on 25mm bases, I wouldn't be painting my chaos cultists at all

I finally started painting something for the first time in 1.5 years. I chose to finish my Grey Knights army (something I haven't touched since the ORIGINAL Daemon hunters codex came out 14 years ago).

The thing is, I refer to my Grey Knights as "Ghetto Knights". With the exception of 4 power armor guys with psycannons and a Dreadknight, all of them are made from bits scavenged from the local game store's bits box. The basic grey knights trooper is a mix of Dark Angel, Vanilla Marine, some Grey knights heads, and various bits. My Landraider is a heavily converted WWI Mark V tank.

All in all I think I've spent less than $250 on a 2500 point army.

A WYSIWYG anal retentive friend once pointed out that my "daemon hammers" are actually just thunder hammers, and thus not totally legal.

Trying to find a decent paint scheme for my BAC box set. Gonna try to make a homebrew chapter with a super Roman theme. (No, not like old timey Smurfs)

Painting smurfs is something i gave up. Too less of a challenge and hardly rewarding.

That's a spiffy and menacing Tau scheme

I've only got three suits, the new ones from the Start Collecting! set, and I've still got half of the weapons to magnetize let alone paint. Kudos for getting so many knocked out!

Can't wait to have mine finished, need some photographic payoff for all of my hard work making 4 points of articulation (mostly balljoints to boot!) and 4 hard points.

Today maybe I'll paint some mummies or skelemen.

Excellent I like the basing. It's gonna be hard for me to get my AT ST onto a clear acrylic of the appropriate shape. Luke and Leia look good too!

I think Litko make an acrylic base exactly that size and shape. I don't envy you trying to shave that much plastic off the feet though. I'd probably resort to sandpaper for most of it.

My basing technique is tragically low-rent. PVA glue, beach sand and then brown ink when the glue has dried. Job done

Still looks miraculously better than taking no effort (unless its no effort on a clear acrylic, and then I strongly approve) and leaving them plain.

They probably do make one that size nowadays but every order from them is $7 which makes even cute little orders kinda gross so I usually bulk buy where possible. He's OK stock for now, its not as if I'm getting to play.

I got my Operation Icestorm in the mail today. Its been a pleasure working with metal again. Everything I've worked on for probably the last 2 years has been either plastic or resin.

The figures are beautiful.
