Whoever thought tracks which're made up of individual teeth was a good idea can go die in a well... Putting together an old Tamiya kit (presumably from the 80s), and just thinking how lovely Rubicon's one piece track assemblies (which have more detail than their competitor's multipart ones) are...

I never realised how good things are in my home town for wargaming. In Glasgow there's a handful of shops in close proximity to each other which sell similar stuff. I thought we were kind of crap actually, especially given how many have closed. Queue me going to Edinburgh, where their famed wargaming shop barely has any stock on the shelves (other than Warhammer), and that's the only gig in town (unless you're into board games, they love them there). Their historical model kits shop was fairly great though (it doesn't hold a candle to the one Glasgow used to have, but sadly shut down a few years back), so I wound up spending most of the cash I brought along for the trip there; thus the Tamiya kit.

I'm turning the Tamiya 1/48th scale Elephant kit, which a helping hand from a load of platicard and milliput, into a 1/56th scale Lowe super heavy (with some liberties obviously). Scale creep is a real thing.

Their 1:48 range is only a few years old at best. Is the lower hull metal or plastic by the way? If it's metal it's an older kit, if it's plastic it is way more recent.

Oh god the documentation says 2016.

I did wonder why the base was plastic (with steel rod inserts). Those metal hulls were nice, but really annoying if you need to mess with them a bit whilst converting.

They did the metal lower hulls / frames for their 1:48 military vehicles in the early days to give the models a "more satisfying weight and feel to them". Sadly they stopped doing this in favour of chunky weights that have to be glued into the hull itself, looking at you, IS-2 tank.

Over the Last week I had the satisfaction to re base color my two revenant titans and my six Hornets.

I'm still fixing the magnetized jump jets on the first one though... I switched it from round magnet plus pin to just square magnet.

Damn those 10mm square neodymium are crazy strong.

"Satisfying" in that when bunched together with a few other tanks your carry case becomes rather heavy...

Let alone with all the milliput I'm sticking on those kits. Warlord and Blitzkrieg's all resin kits are still beating Tamiya's metal hulls out in weight though.

I've been doing a lot of hobby today. Working on various AoS projects:

- Freeguild General on Griffon,
- Handgunners unit (30 Strong)
- Bloodbound Hinterlands Warband

But I also got 4 Genestealer Acolytes finished up!

It's part of my Deathwatch Overkill project (which you can follow here), but I am hoping to play Shadow War with these too as I am a massive Necromunda fan.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Gotta say I do appreciate some dakka poetry. There should be a dakka poetry thread.

Brought some paints and washes to work so I could do stuff on my lunch hour. Was very careful to select all the things I might need to decide how I want to proceed with the detailing on my Guardians. Even made sure to whip up a second wet palette that I can leave at the office.

.....forgot the minis.

The priming coat revealed some more damage that required repair on the three Mark I Immolators. Did not have much time for modelling due to other commitments.

So what are you are all doing today for games like WH40k, WHFB and other war games? Me, I'm planning on making a Skaven army list and talking to my friend a bit more to try and convince him to purchase a dwarf army he's interested in, how about the rest of Dakka?

I wonder if the long since departed OP realises the legacy he left with this thread

Do you think he ever convinced his friend to buy that Dwarf army?

Finished up one of the new plastic Vindicators for now. It's noticeable larger and more intimidating than the old model.

I'll need to go back to it eventually to add some weathering effects to break up the green and white - but I have some other projects to get to first.

Slowly painting the three Mark I Immolators and their Gunners. At some point I will have to focus on one tank and get it finished...or one of the Gunners...six models is too many at once unless they are Ork Boyz or Gretchin.

Still painting the three Mark I Immolators and their Gunners, it got worse today as I also pulled out the two Multi-Melta figures and the Repentia Mistress when I was working on the Gunners, which will slow completion even more. :(
