Meh, now that I've given what I can/want to to MA, I'll have to pop on over to the AvP page and give it a look over. I want nothing to do with terrain, box game, or humans, but I may look into getting an Alien, Predator, or some combination (a set, or hybrid, read it both ways ) to paint up for my nephew. Not sure though, international shipping would probably make it not worth the effort. Maybe on eBay after it's done.

International shipping's 10GBP, flat. Not a half-bad number.

No, that isn't bad especially for a larger package but I hate paying as much for shipping as my items. And I'm talking a single predator and or alien so well just see.

So today I may or may not have discovered that Amazon Instant Video allowed each of these movies to be rented on an Xbox for $3 apiece.

And then watched Alien, Aliens, Predator, Predators in one massive movie marathon, all in a row.

I will detail my thoughts in the appropriate thread for this discussion, but just wanted to update here since this started it all for me

Very glad to know what all the references are now, and yes, these movies are just too cool!

Can someone give me some input on the predalien thing? Is it from the comics? Or a movie that i haven't seen?

Its originally from one of the Video Games, but also appears in the second AVP Film.

The Predalien's in AVP: Requiem, but they also show up in comics and the games occasionally. Basically it's an Alien, except instead of coming from a human, it comes from a Predator.

btw, Sentry Guns unlocked.

So a face hugger got a hold of a predator? Cool. Are the comics actually any good?

Yes.

The (relatively) recent "Three World War" is pretty cool.

The Predalien is actually a pretty awesome design as well, despite the movie not being all that great.

If you don't like the movie one you should compare it to the model from the AvP2 PC game. Thing's ugly as hell, doesn't even look like a xenomorph really.

The original arc just titled "Aliens vs. Predator" was one of my favorites, not brilliant but definitely good.

I don't like its haircut! Makes zero sense, it like saying if an alien drone came out of Miley Cyrus it would have a short side-parting, bright red lipstick and be wearing briefs.

Also, 'that scene' in the 2nd AvP movie (which was that day's 'GTA torture scene' if I remember correctly)

Will be interesting to see what the royal drones turn out - know they had a mention in one of the Steve Perry Alien books book I can't remember which one..

I don't know much about the "yautja" but I'm pretty sure the dreads aren't literally like human hair. Clearly they can't be made of bone, either, but still, it's not quite the same.

It may not make much sense in any case, but it does look cool, and pretty much every interpretation of a predalien I've seen in art, the games, that awful movie, etc. has had the dreads incorporated into it. At this point it would be weird if the predalien didn't have them.

I've always thought they were some cool sensory organ.

We have seen the Xenomorphs take positive attributes from other species, so if it gave them an advantage, it wouldn't be outside of the scope of possibility it would be adapted.

We've also moved to the 900 pledgers level, which is still a far cry from 2000 pledgers, but I like to think we're slowly getting there.

We are only about three days in though, I expect to get to the 2000 mark.
So far we're at the level I wanted to get to as a minimum (sentry guns), although I would like to see some more characters.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

Update 8 - http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/513277403/alien-vs-predator-the-miniatures-game/posts/658314

The Royal Guard (or Praetorians as they are sometimes known), are the biggest and best of the Alien Warriors. Each of these Elite xenomorphs can be identified by their large crest and close proximity to the Queen. Wherever they can be found you can be sure the Queen isn't far away (hint, hint!!)

With the release of the next stretch goal, we have unlocked the Sentry Guns...

I can't for the life of me remember where I read it, but I recall reading somewhere that the "dreadlocks" are actually fleshy extensions of the Predator (not hair) and function in some way as additional sensory apparatus...

Maybe one of the novels...?

It would go a long way to explaining "in universe" the design of the predalien.

Right, so the Praetorian image featured is an action figure, look at the elbows..

Alright, I don't get that. Why not show a render of the praetorian? Is it a placeholder or do they expect people to pledge for models sight unseen?

From what another poster told me in the comments..

"If they show us everything now, everyone will be complaining about the lack of updates when they have nothing left to say "

Now, not that I'm being shamefully negative or anything, but showing off action figures instead of actual renders is rather worrying.

Gotta agree with BrookM
A legit photo/game shot of a model's source, or a render.

I wouldnt take an action figure and then play with the colours until it to look like your renders. That is a little dodgy indeed.

Hopefully they are just buying time until the 'zerker and the Praet are up and running. Very soon.

Its originally from one of the Video Games, but also appears in the second AVP Film.

To be precise, it was birthed in the final scene of the first AvP movie.

I tried to explain it the first time you made that false hair comparison. These are flesh extensions like Kroot have, and Kroot are also born with these. Don't make me compare this to some human fleshy extensions you are hopefully born with
