angelofvengeance wrote: These aren't the same as Battle Systems. These are more like Space Hulk doors except there's no fancy plastic clip. It's a gakky round piece of black plastic, with a slot on top of it for the card to go in. There's no trimming involved. Either the slot is too narrow for the card, or the card is too thick for the slot.
I know they aren't the same as Battle Systems as I've used them. The black clip has 3 indents which it uses to hold the card in place. The issue is the fit is too tight. There are a few options. One you can trim by sanding to cutting the indents on the plastic clip to smooth or make the fit less tight. You can also reinforce the card itself like I have done. This also works for the floor tiles as fitting them and unfitting them can cause wear and tear on the edges of the board.
The first step is to take a razor blade to trim any excess paper. In some cases some parts of the card did slightly rip with punching, this happens with most games even X-Wing board. Even when the pieces came out nicely, taking the blade flat to the edges will help slightly trim a very small sliver of an edge which can get caught and causes the tearing. After you have carefully trim the piece, then superglue the part back down if there was a part damaged. With the hard superglue plastic shell, you can take a pen or some paint to touch it up and you'll rarely notice it anymore. The board did soak up a bit more superglue so I did have to use two coats. I did an initial coat, waited for it to dry fully and then a second brush afterwards.
I have attached pictures that I took when I was trying to document and blog about it.
Spoiler:
I have highlighted the 3 parts which are snug, catch onto the board when you press the doors into the plastic clip. These can be sanded or trimmed. If you remove them completely then the board slips out and the piece usually needs two clips. The other issue with removing the tabs is the clip just slips out completely. I recommend sealing the board, although a light sand can make it less tight but still secure to the door.
When you pop out the pieces there is a small bit of paper tearing. This happens with most things that have die-cut board pieces. The little edges are what can cause tearing when using the pieces. This can be easily trimmed with a sharp blade.
This is an example of what happens when you don't trim the pieces cleanly. The small edges will catch when you slide the board pieces together causing it to rip. If the edges were sealed with super glue this would not have happened. The good news is this can be repaired and hidden fairly easily.
Using a sharp blade you can at a very small angle trim any excess pieces of board so it is a flat and even surface. Before sealing the edges with superglue this is what I do. If I would have trimmed that small overhand that I showed above before hooking the pieces together, the tearing would have been prevented.
Sorry for the bad picture. I tried to show an example of how much excess trims off of a piece by simply going across the flat surface, even on a piece that doesn't look like it has any overhangs. You can see the scraps still on the blade from the piece where I trimmed.
After trimming the pieces I then seal it with superglue. You can use the regular superglue but the kind on the brush works the best to paint it on. Most board game pieces I only need to do one light coat, with AvP I did apply two coats. I applied to first coat, waited for it to dry fully and then applied a second coat to reinforce the edges. I do these with XWing pieces and board game pieces for quite awhile and haven't had any fray despite the hard use, tossing around and even throwing of pieces we've done.
The top piece is not trimmed nor is it sealed, it has a lighter color. The piece below it has been trimmed and sealed with superglue. For the doors I actually to a thin layer to the lower part where I would be inserting it into the plastic clip. There is a bit of pressure and wear on the board where it goes into the clip, but the superglue seal stops any tearing or causing the board to flay from the constant moving and removing.
This was the damaged piece that was shown early after I've trimmed it and sealed it. I haven't touched up around the edges of where it tore so it can still be spotted. Going in with a Sharpie or paint marker can easily disguise it even further.

No, I've reigned in any hostility I had before and have just been waiting patiently, being polite and trying to understand Prodos' situation. I came to the conclusion that being angry about it wasn't doing anybody any good and Prodos has enough on their plate without me being a dick. I have other stuff to work on while I wait anyway.
Had to clear up a couple of points with my pledge calculator, but that was due to being a late backer more than anything else I think.
Really looking forward to getting the horde of Aliens I ordered, and I'll have everything except the Facehuggers in this shipment

So after reading about you getting your shipping notice, I decided to send off a polite email. I got a response from two Prodos emails, one from service and the other from Jarek himself. Both confirmed my delivery is on its way, and detailed the contents of my pledge (did I really order that much stuff?!). The only thing that concerns me is there was no tracking number or eta. Just wondering if you had recieved a tracking number?

So Grumpae, did your pledge manager status change as well? Did you drop the 3D terrain?

Hopefully to ease your fears, I didn't get a tracking number or eta when they sent my pledge - it turned up within two-weeks via UPS though (Poland to UK)
Fingers crossed though that we're on the home stretch now for this wave of shipping for all of you still waiting. Fingers double crossed that the remaining stuff is approved and posted soon(tm)

I originally had pledged for two sets of the 3D resin terrain, however when they changed the design I really didn't care for it anymore. As much of a pain as having to deal with the walls would have been, not having them just made it look silly, imo. I dropped them and beefed up all three factions as much as I could, which for the money was quite a lot. My pledge manager has been opened several times, and closed as many. You really had to watch out though as many of the free items would default back to the original settings, which were not what I wanted. As I don't use a nick name on ks, that part for me was no issue.
