Been looking for Ash Wastes-themed stuff and found this.

Mad Max's car at 1/48 for $20.

There's various insane toy trucks for Paw Patrol and PJ Masks that only need some plastic card and brown spray paint to go.

Best to look for them second hand on ebay from kids who outgrew them.

Okay so this is something from my Dakka blog I just finished - but these are MICROMACHINES

I'm just offering the advice of not dismissing toys like this. For example this APC I managed to get 4x of in a ebay bid for $11.00 with a bunch of other tanks so cheap lots here is a good alternative if you want to get count-as tanks for 10mm-15mm

Scale will be off but for a homebrew - old toys like these with a bit extra bits could be great tanks/conversions/alternative gaslands scale.

Yeah if someone really, really, really thinks that a forum dedicated to a toy soldier game where supermen hack up fungus monsters with chainsaws would benefit from a deep dive into the issue of whether of war toys cause violence, feel free to start a new thread.

Because honestly whenever someone starts saying that my miniature collection makes people violent I just wanna smack in the face, knock em over, kick em a few times and then defenestrate them for good measure.

(Y'know thinking about why does the English language need a dedicated word for throwing someone out the window? Is this like something we do so often we need a word for it? Maybe it's English that makes us violent.)

Couple of finds.

First some character figures from Dollar Tree. They scale pretty well with these Runewars figures which are around 30mm sole to eyeline

Also here's the Hot Wheels "Spaceships" line Mando. Very similar to the Scout Trooper on speeder from a few years back but better sized. Came in a 3 pack at Wal Mart.

We only have that word in English because they stole it off latin. Fenestra was latin for window (iirc) and I believe the term came into more common usage during the days of Venetian rule.

Nice work on those! Always great to see toy sources for small minis.

Micro Machines can be a good deal if you find the right price, but they can be rather expensive these days. A few years ago I would have pointed you towards the second hand MechWarrior clix that we built our 10mm armies around (used to be available for pennies), but those seem to be rarer and up in price as well.

This is good strategy. As my kids are getting toward middle school age, it may be time to start collecting ways to mildly embarrass them in public...

Picked up most of the giant Paw Patrol transport aircraft/base at the resale shop. It's big enough to be useable for almost any scale up to 1:18!

Here it is.
Officially it's the "Paw Patrol, Super Paws, 2-in-1 Transforming Mighty Pups Jet Command Center"
https://www.amazon.com/Paw-Patrol-Transforming-Mighty-Command/dp/B07NFRCHFX/
This was missing the front vehicle/cockpit, but nothing I can't patch up with other toy parts. Quite a bit of blank surfaces after I removed big decals, but paneling and selective greebling can take care of this. It's almost big enough to be a credible mech dropship in 28mm, which is what I'd like to do it up as if I can get it done before adepticon. Of particular interest are the two corridors in the wings. They're well sized for figures. Figures are a 28mm AlphaForge/MegaMinis Salvage Crew and 32mm Reaper Chronoscope "Rosie".

If I got really ambitious I could build 2 cockpit interiors/fronts. One for 28mm and one for my sons 1:18 figures...

Regardless I'm excited to do something with this. The last time I worked on large custom spacecraft was three for my Adepticon Mech Attack Game in 2018 and then I sold them afterwards.

It's out in the garage now, but I can probably get a pic today or tomorrow. Since we moved to a home with a garage, my major projects and painting have been banished there. Mostly pushes big projects out to the warmer months, but I'm realizing that I might have to do some cold-weather work if I want to get this thing ready by Adepticon.

What the heck, it's a slow day ...

Important things to note.

-Only a Rhino or Chimera without side gear or a Russ without sponsons will fit cleanly through the rear door.

-Depending on sponson loadout a Predator might make it, but it's a risky proposition.

- Russ with sponsons will not fit out the rear entrance.

-Any of the tanks mentioned here will fit just fine in the cargo area which is a bit wider than the rear opening.

-There is enough leeway between outer and inner hull wall that the rear opening could be enlarged enough to fit sponson equipped Russ and Predators and still have the existing door completely cover the opening properly.

-There appears to be enough leeway that you can to cut away some plastic where the cockpit meets the cargo area, enlarging the cargo area enough to fit TWO Rhino/Russ/Chimerra tanks inside!

Sorry pics are sideways, but for me they turn rightside up when you click on them.

Excellent. Good deal too! Looking forward to your progress.

Life and weather (most terrain work takes place in an unheated garage) has intervened, so I might not have the Paw Patrol aircraft finished by Adepticon, but I'm going to give it a try!

These are the ones I used.

Unfortunately they appear to be out of stock, but they seem to come back on ebay and Amazon periodically. Mine had larger wheels, but the wheels they have now are actually better. You just pull out the cannon, trim a bit and glue a Heavy Weapon in it's place. They are soft polypropylene so clean them well, glue the weapon in with superglue or epoxy and basecoat with Krylon Camo (for plastic) spray paint.

I found some pretty well detailed tanks at 5 Below, as well as a robot dog and a primaries-sized power armored Batman at Dollar Tree.

For the scale shot, I used a screwdriver and snippers to remove the wheels and motor from the tank.

Nice finds!
The weapon/accessory packs for the Final Faction action figure series that includes the robo dog you found has some amazing bits for conversions.

The Nose/cheek cannons and little intakes onthe sides of my Paw-Patrol conversion spacecraft are Final Faction and I've added a couple more since that picture was taken.
https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/120/651712.page#11329185

Here's something I threw together inspired by a fellow over on the RebelScum forums. All Final Faction parts
Churro Dog Mech, with arms from Blue "A.C.R.M" Mech. Arm guns and head are parts from the "Mech weapons Pack Air Assault". Not bad for $3. could be a construction mech in 28mm, but I'll be painting it up as a proto heavy battledroid for Star Wars action figures.

Holy smokes is that a great use for the dog! And you still have the wolfy head for use on other mechs or spaceships.

And I bought a bunch of those bits to use, too.
Here is a dollar store tank upgraded with dollar store junk and Final Faction bits. The most expensive part is the stowage.
