Strong initial lineup and fantastic sculpts across the board. Only caveat being that infantry looks like it's only 5 pose sprues again.

Looks like I'll be getting plastic GW vehicles to go with my Wargames Atlantic militia.

You guys think there's any chance we see the Malcador with a nest of heavy bolters up top eventually too?

Gonna quietly blow a tune on my own trumpet here. 5 out of 6 ain't bad! (Even if they were all 100% givens).

New Sentinal comes as no shock, I suppose. It's appearance being foretold by LI.
Surprised we got all flavours of Russ though right from the start. I thought they'd drag that out for sure.
Malcador is a pleasant surprise too!

I know a couple of local blokes who are going to be rabidly frothing at the mouth over this. Like, a months worth of paychecks frothing at the mouth. If all the local stores run out of stock, I know who'll have it.

Yea I'm gonna guess the Mk4 vambrace has been squatted, as it prevents compatibility with weapon upgrade sprues.

Cozy cockpit of an Imperial Knight

Quite pleasantly surprised with the initial wave of plastic Solar Auxilia!

New infantry looks a bit chunkier and less detailed, some of the changes are not to my liking, simplified bayonets instead of the sword ones the resin models have and the blocky power cell sticking out of their rifles, but if the command squad model with lasgun is anything to go by, this may be an optional piece. Same with the Veletarii, a bit chunkier than the originals, not a fan of how the power cell for the charger sticks out, but they look like they mean business! The command section makes me hopeful for the future HQ command squad and Legate commander sets, already quite surprised to see the troop master sporting a serpenta, so a future Legate Commander sprue is bound to be brimming with the good stuff for conversions.

But oh my days, both a plastic Dracosan and Malcador, with the Demolisher cannon included, take that! Also loving that the Solar Auxilia vehicle upgrade sprue has everything, including an awesomely clunky looking flare shield generator and the option for a tank commander with an assortment of nicely weird devices.

And a redesigned Leman Russ! Damn it, already drowning in Russ tanks, but one or two, just for this, wouldn't hurt right?

The heavy Sentinel still needs to grow on me, but it can take volkite, always good right?

Hopefully I can secure one of each come the day of preorder.

Here's hoping for a plastic Macharius now as well, which we can hope is fairly probable in the future.

Also, SA versions of the baneblade? Consider LI got them, must be in with a shot.

Not surprised to see the new Sentinel from LI get a 28mm version, little bit of history repeats.

Liking the plastic "trimmed" Russ and Malcadors, finally a nice fit on these parts we hope.
As for the Auxilia troops, as I own the resins.. these lost a ton of detail in GW's pursuit. A list of details, gone.
- Chain driven geared Rebreather [now banded metal]
- Sealing Bolts on helmets, shin to thighs, ect
- I'm not typing anymore here.

Why not do plastic Imperial Army in the RT style or Militia? The Auxilia command elements could fit in with an existing resin force.

I'm actually glad GW showed some restraint in blinging out Auxilia.

Like Marines I expect these to be 5$ cheaper than 40k equivalents, which will make an Aux army still absurdly expensive.

Well, then they will fail. They could compensate that a bit with squadrons for militia malcadors and dracosans as an option aswell.

Maybee.

They would make for the perfect relic vehicles for sure.

Speaking of the upcoming Auxilia Vanquisher, kinda curious to see if it will keep its coaxial autocannon, as the model has either a heavy stubber, or a really weedy autocannon installed in the side mount.

Why? Every other HH kit that has been translated has taken a dive in cost, even compared to their final costs before the swap.

Yeah that's not going to happen, just ain't how HH works and never has been both in terms of individual army books and "rules issues" being addressed.

Agree to disagree on the status of Solar Aux and Militia. I think both lists are good, they just take a bit more effort to play compared to the Legion list. Militia more-so but then I find most people aren't taking the list in the way it really should be played i.e Commit To The Bit.

I am sorry but in a competitive inclined match everything that sees some land on the militia side is vanquisher leman russ spam, whilest solar aux is basically the worse off.

If you mean that by commiting then yes sure. But grenadier bit, don't work. Horde infantry (even with 3rd parties) too expensive NVM that i doubt a lot of people have that ammount of infantry. Artillery? Don't work for a whole slew of reasons (stingy on breaching / rending, too small templates). Ogryn spam, don't really work either.

The bit being Ogryn, Cavalry or Leman Russ? Ideally a faction would not require players to spam thousands of points of a single good unit that you have to divine out of dozens of trap options.

Hopefully that won't be a limited box, because the outlay for 6 of them at once might bankrupt me

Errr... I dunno how to tell you this but there won't be a macharius, not in HH anyway. The reason why is in the name in relation to the timeline.

The Macharius tank has an entry in the Legends document, to easily represent a myriad of tanks used by both sides during the conflict. I wouldn't count on the Macharius making a comeback, the Rogal Dorn might be the closest thing we'll get to a plastic Macharius-expy.

Would love to see a plastic Auxilia Baneblade (dare we say it?) Stormhammer though, but I fear those will be (remain) hybrid resin kits.

Ah it might be LI Baneblade box art. Seems it's normal the detail on box art is finer than on the models? Drilled barrels and such.

edit.

Ninja'd by the sneaky edit!

But looking at the other vehicle box sets, they all use the 28mm models on the cover, so the Baneblades shown here are most certainly a cheeky preview of what's to come!

Bit odd though, seeing as the Baneblade has been shuffled off to Legends territory. 🤔

I would bet that axes are a separate kit as they likely couldn't find room on the sprue.

Not sure if I'd prefer an extra sprue like the Marine special and heavy weapons or an entirely separate kit that could have different poses (but won't).

It’s the same format as the Legiones Astartes Battlegroup which was limited. Still assuming but based on a recent similar example.
