If I remember correctly it was written in the first article presenting what is there for O&G that night gobbos are coming at the later time than the rest of the army.

One might extrapolate there is a new gloomspite gitz kit on the horizon and they need that to happen first.

Except that the Night Goblins being released for TOW are the older, bigger multiparts and thus have no bearing on the Gloomspite kits.

Changing Animosity for Impetuous is a BIG change. Cavalry, particulary wolf riders, become MUCH more of a gamble as they will almost be rolling to charge from turn 1
Units are also more easily charge-bated, as there's a chance they have to charge if they can. On the onther hand, not having units just standing still and doing nothing on a crucial turn feels nice.

I haven't played that many games with my O&G in The Old World yet, but I'm having fun finding my footing with the new rules!

There has been no indication that the old night goblin kit is being re-released yet. Other than the metal bosses, they haven't shown off any of the night goblin models at all.

Also, those metal Nightgoblin characters are designed with the aesthetics of the most recent Night Goblins. If they released the old multiparty Night Goblins, they would be massive next to the metal models.

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

Main GW previews/announcements from marketing (esp at big events) tend to run on a 3 month window. So unless something goes wrong, normally what you'll see will appear any time within that 3 month period. There have been a few exceptions and Old World was one of them, but its now firmly in its mainstream marketing so I'd expect it to stick to the 3 month window

Yeah, in the short term I actually think a MTO for Battle for Skill Pass is more likely.

To be honest you might also say that Night Goblins are so good currently that not being able to buy them is a balance patch :-P

I wonder what the real reason for not shifting production of the giant from metal to resin is?
I don't believe the explanation that it's because 'that's what it should be' - especially when they tout resin as giving a better experience when building the models.

I expect that's something to do with the specifics of the existing mould.

Most likely, cost related in regards to the man hours to make the shift. Also, if they had to redo the mould to accept resin (I think the moulds for metal are rubber, the ones for resin are gel-like), they might not have the original green model for making the master mould, and the cost to digitally reconstruct may be "out of scope".

For the most part, re-releasing all this Old World stuff is to make an easy buck - just putting old existing molds back to work. The more redesigning/conversion they have to do, the more it cuts into possible profits.

It never ends well

Taking things at face value:

The project lead is a real Oldhammer** enthusiast, and he has such a depth of knowledge of these older models which he knows collectors have been coveting for so long. Being able to honour those long standing customers is quite a point of pride for him.

and

But we’re not remastering everything – things like the Marauder Giant and the Orc Shaman on Wyvern are returning in metal because that’s what they should be. We wanted to be as close to the originals as possible. You’re getting that heavy metal model – which is important because it fits with people’s memories of a miniature that will take time and effort to put together. We want you to have that whole experience.

I think that's fairly reasonable. I imagine there are probably additional advantages – even from a bald commercial standpoint it makes sense to foster the retro feel for the intended market; and metal's much quicker to cast and (so I'm led to believe) caster-friendly – but I don't think there's any reason to dismiss the given explanation out of hand. Much as GW is not what it was in the 90s, there are still lots of enthusiasts and hobbyists who work there.

Theres a good chance they had the molds for those models in a ready to go condition, so why waste time and money making new ones to cast them in resin when the rubber molds for the metal will churn out a thousand models?

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

What guesses do we have for the prices?

£20 - £25 for the trolls? Sold indvidually or in sets?

£50 for the Wyvern?

£75 for the Giant?

The trolls will likely match the ushabti at £52.50 for 3 as a guess.

The old models in that army remind me that toward the end, I really didn't like how GW designed their armies. I don't quite know the term for it, but instead of being soldier types derived from a civilized pre-modern monarchical society, they instead made up the dwarf army the same way Mattel made up new He-Man villains. Like same energy. You've got all the guys dressed the same way holding little cannons, and you've got all the guys dressed the same way holding shiny two-handed hammers. I know they were always a bit like that with Ironbreakers and such, but it really went that direction hard after the year 2000.

I like the new lord on shield in plastic and absolutely love that new Ungrim! He's one the most classic warhammer characters of all time imho, so great to see him returning!

Also: finally new rules for the goblin hewer and I've GOT to get my hands on that bugmans bear cart!!

You can bet on it that one army of infamy will be a slayer army.

A gorgeous army! This was the clear winner for me at the previews. I am really excited to see more of the Dwarf Lords in plastic and if they include more options than a head swap. I am crossing my fingers there's a standard included, but not hopeful.

Just so nice to see these minis return.

The Old World has had a fantastic rollout so far i think. The rules are also very smart. I love the game!
