I've discovered that I have a horrible weakness for the metal cases that some of the cooler "collectors editions" of the games come in.

I can resist the 'bonus makeing of DVD' or mini-strategy guide or 'metal figure' that comes in most collectors editions.  But the metal cases get me every time.

I don't know why, but I find them REALLY cool.  I love my Halo 2 case, and I know I'll be unable to resist the Gears of War CE metal case.

Damn you clever marketing people...

It's simple. Make something shiny and people will buy it. I fall for it all the time lol, just look at my electronics . The metal case does seem worth it generally though, makes it seem like your game will last longer. Although my friend bought the special edition halo 2 and now its destroyed so I guess that didnt work .

Either way, tricky marketing technique!

I already preordered the CE of Gears of War back in July, Russ. Reason being that they already had their first two batches of the normal editions presold. Everyone seems to think that $70 for a game is way too much...

But I do 40k, so I just laugh that cost off Plus it helps to have a discount from an employee...
