I have updated my DoW to 1.5.  When I play IG, the Leman Russ tanks don't blow enemy soldiers all over the board like the Ork tanks do.  Is there something wrong with my game, or is this how it is supposed to work?

Thanks.

That's how the Leman Russ for the IG works. Here's a tip:

3x Leman Russes with a Baneblade

Thanks for the clarification.  I thought I had some sort of problem.  Do you know if the Russ damages multiple targets if they are close, or does it just do damage to a single target?

I have done the BB with Russ escort, that is devestating.  Now I am working 3 Basilisks firing at a single point in front of the Russ battle line.

IG seems to have gotten a bit weaker in version 1.51.  Any pointers?

I usually cap as many strategic points as possible(Use 3x Infantry squads with Basilisks firing at ground, each Basilisk taking a different approach vector as its target). Once you get Kasrkin, send the Infantry Squads on a suicide run and figure out where their base is, then let the Kasrkin do the work. I usually use these tactics in 3v1, and don't do too badly. The only problem is when dealing with Loyalist Marines. The snipers can give you a problem, so build Commissars and attach them to the units you'll be using to storm the bases.

I haven't really used Kasrin much.  You are suggesting to replace infantry squads with them when available?

Thanks for the pointers.

I've found Kasrkin to be a nice late-game punch, but the infantry squads are so cheap, I can't see losing them entirely.  Fully upgraded, they're pretty good.  It's hard to kill them fast enough.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

I dunno, once it gets later in the game I use only two infantry squads with the rest being Kasrkin. You can really mop up with an entire force of nothing but Kasrkin. It's great.

What about the Command Squad?  Do you use that?  I have tried a few times, but it collects so many abilities that I can hardly manage it.  The air strike is the only one I can effectively handle.

How about the other specialists?  I use commissars, although they are not as useful as before.  You really have to manage their actions to keep army morale good.  I've tried out the priests, but I haven't been able to get the hang of them.

Any thoughts?

I use the command squad as a "fire and forget" melee unit to help tarpit enemy melee units.  I typically give it one commisar and three priests, and let them go to town.

I'm going to be jumping back into this with the release of Dark Crusade pretty soon, but I don't want to play much now as we'll have to re-learn the new stuff for Dark Crusade.
