Jackson has promised that HIS film won't be the kind of creatively barren snoozefest that many videogame-to-big-screen conversions turn out to be. Check out this lengthy interview on Ain't It Cool News, where Jackson talks about his intentions for the film. Among the highlights:

"...The designs for The Flood that I've been seeing are incredibly hardcore, I have to say. The wonderful thing of using the world of CG now and that real, Lovecraftian kind of twisted... That stuff lends itself to computer generated effects so well, the organic, pulsating, throbbing, oozing kind of effect looks great. I had a bit of fun with that on KONG with those sort of bug things and those insects and wormy things that kill Andy Serkis. I can see that tying all that CG technology to some Lovecraftian horror is going to be awesome." - Jackson

All I can say is that I hope it ends up well. They are shooting for a PG-13 rating which worries me, as Halo is not the same without the blood and gore and it is an M rated game after all, doesn't make sense to make it PC, people are going to watch it either way.

The flood also sound like they will be awesome, if it follows the original Halo's storyline the scene where the Chief first meets up with the flood is going to be damn scary

I think I'd get more excited over a Red v. Blue cinematic feature.

(I say this because I'm not big on Halo, so it's all about the funny)

Peter Jackson + Halo = 3 hour snooze fest.

The man needs an editor and must learn that only the true hard core geeks enjoy movies longer than 2 hours.

They tried to make Doom interesting, I really don't see much difference for Halo. You got a guy who runs around killing things for 3 hours. Let me contain my excitement. Ok, done.

Not to be a sour puss, but I'm probably the only guy who doesn't think Peter (stinky) Jackon is the cinema god that most geeks think he is.

I loved the LOTR movies.

I also love Halo.

All signs point to good on this front.

...except for the fact that this is a movie adapting a FPS to a movie. I'm somewhat scared.

On the other hand it could turn out to be "so bad it's good" as Doom turned out to be.

LOL Lovecraftian got me excited as well.

As for Doom, I liked the FPS sequence in Doom but I don't think it would work in a classy job like Halo looks to be as opposed to a B-Movie like Doom.

Church: So it is a sword, It just happens to function like a key in very specific situations.
Caboose: Or it's a key all the time, and when you stick it in people, it unlocks their death.
