very interesting. a friend of mine just called asking if I'd camp out at Wal-mart with him to horde and e-bay some PS3s. Now I see the evil in it.

You know who I blame? (And for once, it's not Sony). I blame people who just can't wait to get the console as soon as possible, and pay exhorbitant amounts for them on eBay. A few months of patience would solve this problem nicely.

I think this is the first launch in history with a system:game sale ration of less then at least 1:1. It's something like 1:.74 or 1:.82. That can't be good.

Yeah, those are the numbers I saw too, which seems to indicate a large number of PS3's are being bought to be re-sold. The real problem is the release quanity is just way too low. Only 88,000 units for all of Japan? Something tells me that most gamers in Japan will be playing Zelda and Mario for the foreseeable future.

Zelda and Mario here, too. The Wii will have a much higher availability.

A bit of funny for you. In a poll used to determine market demand the PS3 beat out the Wii by a bit (though nowhere near the level that the 360 generated last year). OTOH of the people who said they wanted a PS3, 48% said they thought the price would be about or under $300. There will be many heart attacks Friday.
Another interesting tidbit is that I guess Best Buy and Target are going to be running specials to entice people that are there for a PS3 but don't get one on the 360.
