for starters, yes I know it's called different in the US now, yadda yadda, let's skip that part.

I just came from the local Cinemaxx "Men's Night" which was also the premiere of John Rambo and there are a few words I want to sahre with you.

first things first: that was probably the most intense warmovie I've ever seen. Granted, my experience whith this genre is rather small, but I've seen Private Ryan and Apocalypse now (which I found to be really boring btw.) which should count for something.
As far as I know, the movie pictures the situation down in Burma relativly accurate, which I think was Stallones intention anyway. An I have to say: DAMN! that is some really awfull stuff going down there . I was watching the movie and felt, well awkward, to sit there and watch that...well..that genocide. and I'm usually not that much moved by a movie. not in that way at least. it's hardto describe, but I saw those soldiers driving through the jungle, litterally slaughtering the peasants with a jeep-mounted machien gun, and somehow, I felt almost guilty for having so much fun with buggy-mounted big shootas. that was really intense stuff. and don't get me started on the other stuff.

BUT: there's also the fact, that this is, in many ways, a very enjoyable action movie. unfortunatly, the german version was cut about a minute, which left the most brutal killings out. which is quite interesting, since I saw them all already in the trailer.... . still, Rambo does what he does best, altough, in the end, I was surprised how soon the movie came to an end.

so, would I recpmend it? ehm, yes. it was still a good, but really dead-on brutal, movie.

I heard it was the most violent movie several of my friends have seen. One described it as "[immensely] satisfying."

That said, I'm no fan of the franchise and will be sitting this one out.

This movie shows you why a .50 cal machine gun is not allowed on personnel in the Geneva Convention.

Great movie though.

The preview looks so bad it made my eyes water, like when standing too close to an open sewer. Seriously, not counting money that's 90 minutes to two hours of your life you'll never get back. Its like shopping with your mother in law, you're just constantly praying someone goes berserk and starts shooting so you can take a bullet and end the suffering.

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

For the record i would be extremely leery about attending anything called "Mens Night"..

That said, i though it was wicked. The pacing was great, the action was amazingly scripted, and every word that came out of Sly's mouth was dripping in baddass.

Of course is a dumb action movie but if you were expecting a deep thinking film that leaves you pondering you're stupid.

Nice!

First Blood was a decent movie, though at times it really went overboard into parody (the ridiculously cruel and stupid national guardmen, Col Troutman’s speech about Rambo’s training, Rambo’s soliloquy at the end in which he claims to be able to drive a helicopter and a tank).
