Its a full moon tonight and whilst running just after dark I got to thinking about 'the man in the moon' and why in the movies (usually from northern hemisphere) the man in the moon is upright, like a regular face looking down with eyes at top and mouth at the bottom.

Here in Oz when I see it first thing in the evening the right eye is at 3 o'clock, the left at about 5 o'clock and the mouth from about 7-11 oclock.
So its almost upside down.

What I need are people in the northern hemispere to go outside or at least prise yourselves from your chairs and look out a window to see which way up the face of the man in the moon is.

I cant see the man in the moon anymore, after learning of Asia's bunny in the moon, which seems much clearer to me:

OK so I was driving to work early this morning and the moon was still in the sky.

But now the 'face' was right way up with the eyes at 11 and 2 oclock and the mouth from 5 oclock to 7 o'clock.

So during the night it must roll.

But I still need to know what position the face is in when it rises in the northern hemisphere....

Sorry I tried to help. I can't see the moon here. Probably the tree line blocking it on the horizon.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.
