Basically Sony may include it's rootkit so you cannot play used or borrowed games.

Wow. If Sony actually utilizes that technology, the Xbox 360 might actually win the next console "war".

I hope they don't, because I think Playstation3 has a ton of potential.  I am currently more excited about PS3 than XBox 360.  But if they start pulling this stupid rootkit crap, they will just shoot themselves in the foot.  As much as I hope they don't do it, if they do, they deserve to lose the console war.

I'm still rooting for Nintendo's new system.  Will they ever return to their former glory?  Assemble the Old Guard! Nintendo Power!

Would have been kind of a logical thing to do though, the whole used games market thing is driving publishers crazy.

Totally and completely a bad idea from a consumer side of things. Sure it makes sense to keep the rental and used video game market in check but from a consumer point of view, it would suck big time.

I currently have two playstations that I play the same games on. One is my own, the other is my brother in laws. So instead of sharing our games, we would each have to buy the same game for each system. That would suck. Also just this year I had to replace my PS2 because the laser died. I'd hate to think I couldn't play my library of games anymore because I just replaced the whole system.

This story has been confirmed as bogus.  No worries PS3 fans.  Well, no worries about this issue at least.
