hey

When I bought my Xbox 360 Complete/Pro pack, it came with a supposed 20GB Hardrive. I was surprised to find out that it read 13 GB free when I looked at it for the first time in the memory section.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I want to make sure it's not just me and that this is the norm for the 20GB Hardrive.

I thought Dakka had died! All those merories gone due to all that shifty website moving business. So for 4 years I had to live without these forums.

You can imagine the look on my face when I found Dakka again on a google search the other day!

Some of it may be taken up by the actual hardware needed to run the system, like a computer, but I have no idea.

Looking for the Empire spearmen from the Warhammer sixth edition box set (empire vs orcs) Must be unpainted and in good condition. Also looking for MIB Empire State Troops boxes.

Looking for Battle for Macragge and Black Reach Tactical squads, unpainted and unassembled.

This is normal. The 360 reserves about 6-7 gig on the hard drive for "game cache". Game developers can use this space to cache data normally on the DVD to improve game performance and load times. Oblivion, for example, does this.

hey

Oh, thanks for replying to all my posts Russ!

But so does this mean even though my Hardrive is full, Oblivion would run the same as if my Hardrive was completely empty?

I'd really appreciate your help again!

No, the system "reserves" a chunk of free space to be left constantly free so that games can use that space to pre-load stuff, thereby cutting down on your load times.

So that mysterious 7GB isn't "filled" it is simply reserved for whatever game you are currently playing. Nothing is ever actually saved in that spot.

theres also a fair few music tracks and videos the 360 coems with. i reccomend going through them all and stripping out the stuff you don't want. that should free some space
