I'm a huge fan of the retro tyranid 2nd edition colour scheme but i have searched far and wide and could never find out what this hive fleet is called. I wasn't around for 2nd edition warhammer so if someone could tell me what hive fleet this is I'd be grateful.

None and all. The reason is at the time, there were only 2 known Hive Fleets: Behemoth and Kraken. This was also the time before color schemes had been codified for the hive fleets.

Nowadays, Behemoth has the red flesh so you could treat these as Behemoth if you really want.

Thanks. I thought maybe it was an alt colour scheme but that's really cool. Awesome that you can play it as anything.

To add to the confusion of that era? Different gribblies had different colour schemes.

Biovores had an almost metallic sheen over pale purple. Hormogaunts had a dark blue flesh. The Lictor was somewhere between the two.

There’s obscure lore out there somewhere, speculating that wherever the Tyranids originally hailed from, their predominantly red colourisation suggested a matching colour of star.

It might in the 2nd Ed Codex. Will see if I can track it down.

People complained they didn't update the plastic 2 different arm mono-pose genestealers for years, but as you can see that's one of the few they got RIGHT. Still love the classic lictor look, though it seems like his guts are attacking you.

That's even more terrifying than their pincer/mandibles. Imagine some alien just vomiting up your friend he just ate.
