Had a lovely game of Titanomachina on Thursday night. Rhea (me) chased Tethys (my opponent) around the board until I made a fatal mistake and put my back to the edge of the board. With the threat of a ring-out imminent, I was suddenly on the defensive with Tethys suddenly turned and started fighting back. The game times out, but one more round and Tethys would have hurled Rhea out of the disputed territory. As it was I lost 20-17 thanks to losing Rhea's Hand and right Shields generator, and only having 13 yellow habitats on the board. I managed to shoot off Tethys's right leg and extra armour, but my wily opponent had made sure Tethys had Her full complement of 16 pink habitats.
The Kill team game looks like it'd have been a lot of fun!
My buddy and I met for some more games of Underworlds yesterday. Still fine tuning my Sepulchral Guard deck, while he's playing his Madmob. Really enjoying playing Sepulchral Guard, especially as a bunch of great cards came out in season 4 which compliment them well.
A group of samurai heroes venture into the Realm of Shadows to take on the mighty oni and his minions. Using Osprey's Ronin rules set. The samurai just about won, only two of their number survived the quest, a tight match.
Khorne vs soulblight. Or rather radagast the beast who soloed skarbrand and bloodthirster like a champ.
Had i saved like 2 out of 5 with 4+ skarbrand had good chance to solo most of his remaining army. But nope. Died and bloodthirster charging in suffered same fate.
6ed fb, ogres vs undead. 15 years so no idea how to play. Limited on models i could use from aos so basically bulls, ironguts, leadbelchers, butcher and tyrant.
Turns out moving forward was seriously bad idea and just castle up and let him charge me was way to go. I moved forward, he moves, van hel into combat, kill models that were in contact, i break and die. Repeat. Spirit host blocks iron gut unit.
End result dead ogre army, maybe 10 dead skeleton(he got like 20 models summoned) and 4 dead black knights.
Lumineth vs seraphon and then vs skaven. Lost both as army got cripled by turn 3 or so. Particularly bad vs seraphon. Star strike already favours late game scoring and this more so.
Skaven he got vermin lord turn 2, double on turn 3 and i didn't get for turn 4. Bad shrine placement and gg.
6/6 games of aos objectives pretty much irrelevant.
My daughter is 11 and has started to really get into gaming (finally ). We've played a few games of Frostgrave in the past but I determined that this was the summer when we were going to turn up the difficulty level. We created wizards and war bands and commenced the campaign in the main rule book. First game was the Mausoleum scenario (one of my favorites) and she did great, playing the objectives and really thinking through her moves and the spells she was going to cast. We ended up tied with three treasures apiece and then had fun rolling on the treasure table and figuring out what loot we managed to grab.
Played the Silent Tower for our second game and it was fantastic! We each grabbed two easy treasures early and then fought it out for the central treasure. The central treasure changed hands three times before she was able to leap her soldier off the board for the win. Things got even more complicated (also fun) with mummies, zombies and skellies popping out of the all the buildings each turn.
Still really love Frostgrave. I've never had a bad game and the kiddo is picking it up quick, only having one D20 to worry about is helpful. She really enjoys building up her war band and leveling up her wizard. Hoping to bang out a few more games next week.
Weird games. We both thought list with loc, pinks and flamers was stronger than acolyte/tzaangor/skyfire list. I thought ogors would fare better vs mortals with khorne with anti magic options(only defence ogors had was heroic action)but dice put ogors vs loc.
Well i got double so was able to get charge that caused horrible damage battleshock included.magic wiped then my Infantry ogors in center and cavalry but frostlord terrorised all. In the end 40-29 win as by turn 4 he had just some heroes really.
Khorne was opposite result. Skarbrand got shot and finished in melee, acolytes and skyfires were terror. Bloodthirster was killed, summoned(slaughterpriest had to sacrifice wounds to other slaughterpriest), charged and did stuff and getting double charged into skyfires. For sake of vp's had to attack elsewhere so bloodthirster got killed...30-11 for tzeentch
Pic of daemons was on last round. I summoned 2nd bloodthirster and failed to charge. Game was done and winner clear so he magicked, shot and charged with loc for lols. I ended up worse off nearly dead...
1,000 point game of Mythic Americas, Aztecs vs Tribal Nations in the "Build Altars for the Gods" scenario. Aztecs won 4-2 with help from their secondary objectives.
Using the solo adventure rules from White Dwarf 458 I played a quick game in which all my heroes got mauled by Ogres. The Paladin was crushed by an Ogre charge but the Freeguild General and his Wizard companion managed to kill all the Sabre Tusks and Ogres except one. That single Ogre had 1 wound left staring down a lone Peasant Bowmen Villein. He charged rolling double 6...and then failed to roll a single 6 on the Ogre charge roll, so no Mortal wounds. It then proceeded to miss all its attacks.
On the next turn, with all hope lost the Villein 360 no scoped and hit the Ogre finishing its last wound off saving the day for the heroes.
We did a quick classic kill team match to get a guard player up to speed.
i totally forgot to take pictures. i was down to 2 sternguard but held the objective until the end. i got the win but my scout is out of action due to injury next game, and my librarian took an arm wound leading to a loss of -1 strength
The stuff i did remember to take pics of-
spectre ops modern combat-scenerio was basically 7 days to die survive the zombie hordes and get to the extraction point.
We also managed to get a little classic battletech in.
1k lumineth vs sons of behemoth, loss. Mountain spirit whiffed hard and small giants wore him down. Got mega gargant dead(yey) but on death Killed big cow which meant i had no real way to keep rest of army alive enough to score on that scenario.
Then 2k slaves to darkness vs seraphon. Looked grim after his 1st command phase with 20 mortal wounds(i had 87 total) and after shooting 3/6 chariots dead.
Dark prophecy told i'm getting double. So archaon on turn 2 with double fight from chaos lord tore through saurus guard and fought again killing slann. 3 varanguard and chaos chariot meanwhile killed 6 terradons, their chieftain and 2 razordon's.
Got to be one of most devastating turns i have ever had.
Scenario gave him still chance to win since he doubled back but slim chance failed and it was a game,
Another packed house at the FLGS last night with a bunch of new faces, always a good time.
We started of things with a couple big multi-player classic 5th ed kill teams with 4 plaers startign in the 4 corners of the map in 10" box deployment zones. It was marines in 2 corners( loaned out one of my spare kill teams), imperial guard and orks. the second was a different set of objectives with one of the marine players swapping out for a tau force.
Sadly i was having so much fun with the game i completely forgot about pictures until the end of the second game. so all i have is pictures of the table
We then moved on to a quick game of 1v1 battletech kurita VS capellan stealth gakkery
Then we ended the night with a little demo game of DUST 1947
On the next table over some friends were running a spectre ops game with one of the big 3d printed space ships from 2nd dynasty designs
Using the solo adventure rules from White Dwarf 458 I played a quick game in which all my heroes got mauled by Ogres. Leitdorf! The bases on those Empire minis look great! Did you do 'em with Greenstuff World rollers?
Ahhh it is indeed PLA, looks really smooth tho. $125 is a good price for it - if it were resin it would cost that and more in materials, no idea how much PLA goes into it
Some 9th, my DG vs. IG. Since I just got a batch of terminators painted, I took a humorous list with about 30 terminators of various kinds with a handful of supporting characters.
For some reason, this seems to have broken the IG player, who despite being the only one who dealt any real damage with their Demolisher Commanders and Manticores kept on insisting he couldn't do anything to the (constantly diminishing) wall of terminators and forfeited the game by turn four. I mostly trudged towards him, looking menacing
LOL Yeah we were short some players so we had to sub in some other units to bump up points on the defenders side, i will have more pics up in a few over on my old editions thread
Ogor vs lumineth that had pretty extreme t1 assault try. But my t1 dispells were ridiculous stopping calthallar spell and archer buff and autodispelling ward aura.
He then made mistake of continuing assault rather than pull out of my t1 charge range. His charge was less than stellar and my counter charge wiped them.
Then double and with buffs still down archers got massacred.
Teclis tried still utilize scenario scoring but failed teleport charge and with that we called it.
My 2nd win ever vs this guy, first vs his lumineth.
Stormcast & cos vs soulblight in path to glory. Hold or die.
Scenario put me on tough spot but tried my best to win and got a chance 2 times to kill his general who needed one 6 from 4 dice to survive and did it.
Round 3 got chance with 3 annihilators. Pretty 10" charge but only 1 4+ for mw...
Seeing how victory slipped because that vampire survived by 1 wound...
Repurposed some of my Kings of War Lego minis for a game with my son last weekend. It uses the combat system and dice from my old copy of Battlemasters, but with smaller armies and a non card-based activation (each player can activate up to two units per round, until all units have been activated for the turn.)
Units can either stand and fight, move one hex and fight, or run two hexes with no fighting. Each unit got a flat tile with a dry-erase number on it for quick reference of how many dice to roll for attack or defense. Every unit has 3 Wounds, which are shown by removing figures. In our next game I will add a couple of ranged units and maybe other simple terrain (like woods that give +1 Dice in defense)
Bolt Action, 1939 Invasion of Poland. First in-person game of the local club that has been meeting over Zoom during the pandemic.
Glory:1861. Unfortunately discovered that there are more holes in the rules than I realized when reading them for my review. Which is a shame. This rules will need an rewrite, or may need to be abandoned for another set of rules like Sharp Practice.
'O' Group. A modified version of the demo scenario included in the rulebook. A German battalion defending a town from an American paratroop battalion with armored support. We paused the game halfway through with the German left flank in disarray, but the Germans could still pull out a victory if they hold long enough.
In a change of pace from my usual reports, our group has been dabbling in Team Yankee. Here's one of our practice games to help get our heads around the rules
along with efforts to introduce CAP into the air mix:
Mig-29s escort in a SU-25 strike package
Soviet armour bottle-necks near a wood
The Soviet right flank
Bring on the Hinds!
The rules are workable, but some of the points values are all over the place. House rule making is underway...

Care to elaborate on some of these holes?

Does this rule set avoid the tank parking lot of FOW or does it just lean into the tank parking lot scenario since it is Cold War Gone Hot?
I don't think I've been that wired from a game ever: I played the green Titan (Styxx) while my opponent played the yellow Titan (Rhea), and every round it was desperately hoping the next round I'd be able to repair and raise shields, or else get that combo in that would cause Rhea some serious, irreparable damage. My opponent fought a perfect defensive battle though, carefully spacing their habitats so I could only kill them one at a time, and any overkill would do for mine as well, and using their agility to make sure I was working for every shot! The game ended on a time-out after 18 rounds at 22-11 (4VPs for destroying my laser blade and my port/prow armour, 18VPs for habitats; 1VP for destroying their prow armour, 10VPs for my surviving habitats).
I had a really hard time getting to sleep last night because I was so worked up...
Got in a few games of Underworlds yesterday after work, playing a new Dread Pagent deck I made, and I really enjoy how it plays. My buddy was using the Starblood Stalkers.
Bashed heads against a friend's orcs in Epic Armageddon. We didn't have time to finish the game, but it was fun nonetheless. Damn those heresy greenskins are tough, boyz with 5+ saves can be a real pain to remove when there's hundreds of them! Even the final air charge of my Deathshrouds, while reaping through over two dozen stands, barely dented the 'uge mobs while forcing them to break.
first game up-
50 point warmachine game khador VS legion of everblight
Then we did a little multi-player king of the hill kill team battle- the oblits were stand ins for custodes.
Then we ended the night running my proxy warhound titan with the extremely old rules from FW for using a superheavy in normal games of 40K made long before apocalypse ever came out.
First time out to play in nearly a year, got so overwhelmed by the colours, shapes and sounds the my already shaky phone know wots meant I didnt actually save the pics of last nights game, good job I was played the same list so proxy pic counts
An auspicious day where the number of wounds was consistently eight. Also a match where my Exalted Champion bearing the Gorefather and an exceptional battle lust managed to take Belakor down to 1 wound almost entirely via Mortal Wounds.
Spoiler:
I then proceeded to whiff the next four rounds and every other unit failed to take that last remaining wound of Belakor, and oh did they try. Quite a fun match and looking forward to adding more skulls to the skull throne, even if this game it meant the skulls of my dudes were offered up.
Oh that is impressive, if it were me I'd probably test out my paint scheme on the bottom before I do the top, since most people don't check the bottom. Either way it's a great paint job, glad to hear he did well first time on the board!
Had my first game of AoS 3, my Spiderfangs vs Sons of Behemet.
I was able to use my endless spells and terrain to block movement, and won the game pretty well (he didn't score any points for the first couple of turns). Definitely a destructive army, anytime his units attacked one of mine, my unit evaporated.
Thanks! they were my new-year-new-lockdown project in the beginning of 2020. I am very happy with how they turned out, and happy I can finally start getting some games in with them.

How the spells blocked so well wheny you can walk ovei them in aos3?

Wait, you can? We were not aware of that change in the rules. I'll have to look that up. It was our first game using the new edition.

Yup, rule 19.3 includes it. You can walk across or through a spell but not end your move on it.

Thank you very much, they were a pleasure to collect. Just hoping these rumours of a plastic Skuttleboss is true!
@ Rihgu
Thanks, I looked it up yesterday as well. Well, so long are the days of using the skuttletide to block units movement, it was really good at that. They still can't end movment ontop of spells, so can certainly still be used to clutter the board lol.
Once more into the breach, this time the World Eaters had the pleasure of fighting a splinter of an all-consuming hive fleet of Tyranids. (Acid) blood was spilt and heads rolled but alas the World Eaters were soon no more. Most of my guys were wiped by turn 4, my rhino survived until turn 5 along with some Termies. Fun game but I was soundly defeated due to objectives and poor mobility on my units that lived past the 2nd turn.
Spoiler:
Kaen Herr, wielder of the Gore Father laid down a host of mortal wounds from several mighty hews in the first round. Regrettably the creature he was hacking to bits was filled with Acid and was nearly dissolved in the onslaught. He and all the other infantry were soon wiped out by scything talons from the giant bugs.
2 games back to back. First gargants vs slaanesh. Ended up winning by 3 vp but at turn 5 he still had chance to get minor victory. Kill small giant, net 3 vp giving tie and win by more completed battletactics.
6" redeploy and 9" charges failed and i got the win.
Then change of roles. He pulled his gargants, borrowed big and small from me and i pulled out my ironjaws.
My slowness hit me and failing to get double on second(or ever really) caused me being boxed in. Vp wise was in trouble after 3 rounds. He got still priority and game got decided when his charge vs1+ save mawkrusha killed it. Had i survived and with 2 attack goes killed gargant could have won(by tabling no less) but ah well.
2 games where both sides has chance even round 4 onward. Excelent.
This month's club game was a(n untimely) game of Black Ops.
Set in ~2005, it saw a combined force of Rangers and Delta Force try to rescue a down helicopter pilot from a Taliban outpost.
The game itself went alright, with some problems due to how the GM doled out activations (Rangers and Delta had to share them, so the Rangers player did most of the playing while I, controlling the Delta team, sat around for most of the game only to be shot to pieces when I was forced to move the pilot).
Been happy to have my Custodes get a few games in recently. In this one took my first victory over Dark Eldar, our aegis of the emperor and impervious storm shields saving us from the treacherous weapons of the enemy.
Spoiler:
The Achillus Dreadnoughts were the MVP, striking down the dark eldar's skimmers with golden light and striking spears.
Last weekend saw some titanic action as the green line of Krytos and Solaria thundered forwards against the Ashen Gods of Favilla. On this wartorn industrial world, lightning and artillery bombarded the area incessantly as the comms lit up: the Very Important Ultramarines (in their Land Raiders, objective markers) must be extracted from the clutches of Death Guard before it is too late.
We had a bit of fun in a four player setup, giving control of the main flow of command to the players who had full maniples on the field while one lad wanted to test his Warmaster out as support and I played my Psi-Titan and some knights in support of the new player trying out a Corsair trio of my Reavers. We used a smaller hand of custom stratagems for expediency.
Both sides quickly sped forwards to claim one of the Land Raiders, before everything went to hell for the alliance.
Before the second Krytos Hound got a chance to vaporize the knights who came to claim the Raider, they executed a daring dash backwards and sped into safety, though one of their number was soon blown apart by a Basilisk battery.
The Hound in question, though, was utterly atomised by the arcane contraption in Aetheris-Anathema's hand as if its shields were not even there. A dark blast of unreality shot forwards and in an unnervingly silent moment, the inner parts of the Warhound ceased to exist this side of the Veil as the charred outer remains crumbled into wreckage on the ground.
At the green corner, the Ultramarines were being escorted into relative safety while the titans turned their guns against the incoming sneaky Cerastoi.
One did make it through the rain of plasma undeterred, though, and charged in. Slamming its lance through the heart of the other Warhound, they tangled together in death as the Hound exploded like a miniature sun.
In the other direction, the two big chonkers had been firing away at the incoming Reavers, of which Flagellum Dei got blasted apart in a radiation cloud as its tortured shields could take no more and huge balls of roaring plasma ripped through its structure. This, however, did nothing to prevent the horror that was the Psi-Titan from ravaging the Warmaster from afar. First shot tore through its sides, coolant leaking in torrents from the wound as it backed behind the large office building in vain hope of gaining cover. This was not to be, however, as the second beam of nightmares vaporized said office block in contempt and smashed into the god-machine behind. There was a screech of dying metal, followed by a blinding explosion as the remains blew sky high, unleashing the caged power of the plasma reactors within.
Alarmed and struck in the legs by the debris cloud, the Krytos Warlord Deus Invictrix blinked for a moment too long and allowed one of the Reavers, Ruina Superborum, to close in and grip it by the cojones with its fists. The wounded giant was soon toppled, smashed into the ground and screaming its last as it was sawn apart.
We started off with a 5th ed game of 40K where one of our guard players finally got to make/use an army he always wanted since i had the 3rd ed chapter approved book....that's right it is imperial guards armored company time!
Then i got my new falshirmjager DUST army on the table to face off against my Russian foes-
Then we did a thematic star trek/B5 wars battle between a federation war fleet VS the dominion around DS9
Finished off the day by getting a second DUST game in agianst the US heavy rangers
H.B.M.C. wrote: Are there any planes in DUST that aren't goofy looking?
And that's a big DS9. I'm presuming it's also 3D printed. Wish you had some more photos of that game.
1. well the axis planes are based off the HO229 wing fighter so you cannot get much cooler than that, i just want them to finally release the heavy US fighter based off the P-61 black widow
2.No it is not printed, it is an official star trek attack wing mini (biggie?). they made a few huge models for the related systems-borg cube, executor SSD for star wars armada ETC..
3.Unfortunately i was busy getting wrecked by all the love the dominion could throw at my nebula and achillies siege cruiser so i only took one other picture.
Recently played a game of British Grenadier, refighting the Battle of Monmouth.
Will Washington be able to save his Continentals from Lee's blunder? Or will Clinton capitalize on the Americans' mistake? Read the AAR on my blog to find out.
Got my ass kicked by tson. I went first, after my 2nd turn it was easy concede.
Shooting mostly bounced off, repentia sucked(note to self. Need to charge 3 units and accept one will die doing nothing), my dice rolling didn't help and my 2 anti-psychic 18" auras never got to work. And tson shooting vaporized me.
Ptg continued. 1600 vs orruks breakthrough. Easy win with 4 models dead ln breakthrough. Didn't take double on round 3 as felt better off giving him priority.
Then watchtower vs slaanesh 2k. Like 3rd or 4th watchtower during ptg this campaign...
Slaanesh alpha horrendous but struck hard and after double he had like 4 models left...but one was the big 400pts fat guy on throne i couldn't deal and other was mirror hero that slipped into position to summon keeper that was crucial in this scenario destroying watchtower i could hold well.
Ironically only reason this guy had keeper was i just today sold my slaanesh models to him
15 of them, and they all had objective secured Died pretty quick to the blades of the Rout though! MY buddy has fantastic tables and terrain, always a pleasure playing at his place.
I'm amazed at how much you get to play. And how often.
Only things I'd say would be:
1. Those 40k games don't have nearly enough terrain.
2. As much as a pain as it is to do - and I do it for every pic in my terrain blog - it might be better to shrink the pics down to 40%-45% of their original size both to save on the file size and load times.
I'm amazed at how much you get to play. And how often.
There is another option?
I get one day a week for gaming and i make the most of it.
1. Those 40k games don't have nearly enough terrain.
Not to bad actually considering it is 5th ed all that area terrain and the scatter terrain provides cover, we just didn't use much in the way of LOS blocking to stay with the setting of the table. As well as the first game the IG player used fortifications from the stronghold assault book to add to the terrain.

Are you looking at 9e or 5e standards? 5e required lot less than 9e as GW has upped lethality to ridiculous level since 5e
Couple ptg games vs lizardmen. First the trap that was easy win with just 3 models lost. Then ritual which i won again. Me keeping priority round 2 was big both games.
Skinks charging into vindictors ended up...not so pretty.
I played a return match against my eldest using the Godzilla vs Kong rules I had worked up, him playing Kong this time. He beat me to a pulp; I think the problem was I kept trying to whack him with my tail when I should have been getting some distance to use my nuclear breath in relative safety. I have figured out how to implement Kong's axe though. Next game...
Played a game of Grimdark Future: Firefight last night.
We played a Patreon Exclusive mission where you split your force up into waves and they would enter the board throughout the course of the game. Unfortunately for the mission balance, you had to roll the dice to see if your new units made it onto the board. 4 rounds in and my entire force was the board and my opponent had just managed to get his second wave to enter. Meaning I had handidly dispatched his initial wave, and was just sitting on objectives and scoring for literally 2 rounds unopposed.
We think that if we had just increased our point totals so that each wave was larger we could have fixed the problem. We for sure want to play again, and still really enjoy the system. It's just a shame our first game in quite some time ended up being a feels-bad game.
Finally got a chance to play the new Kill Team for the first time. I played Tactical Marines vs Death Guard (3 Plague Marines + 8 poxwalkers), and got my behind handed to me, losing 3-7.
We played the "Master the Terminals" mission with two changes, so Open Play. First change was to use a board size twice the standard size (44" x 30"), and another was to play the game for 5 turning points instead of 4.
I made too many positioning mistakes and by the third turning point, I already knew I'd end up losing. First, my ML operative chose a wrong vantage point to camp in and ended up dying prematurely. Later in the game, I underestimated the Plagie Marine leader's charging reach and lost my plasma gunner to his powerfist.
The MVP of the game was definitely the Plaguemarine leader. He ended up killing two of my marines and wounding another two, and survived against all odds from insane amounts of damage, succeding in "distgustingly resilient" test for like 22 wounds worth of damage! I finally got him with a bolter overwatch round, but by then he had already won the battle for Nurgle.
Plasma, especially overcharged variety, is super effective in the new KT. AP2 aint no joke! Makes a Krak Missile look weak with its AP1 in comparison.. Think I'll swap out the ML for a HB and give the sgt a powerfist/powerweapon and a plasmapistol next time instead of a combiplasma.
All in all I enjoyed the new edition and am already looking forward to the next game! KT21 is refreshingly different from regular 40K, bolters are actually a big deal in this game. Also, the way the game plays feels very fluffy somehow, many things familiar from the lore make more sense than in regular 40K.
We started out the night with some DUST 1947, got a new player hooked on the game and gifted him some of my spare army bits and he also used a few units from my allied army to make up his 150 point list. for those who complain about lack of scenarios or objectives. the DUST website has 40+ free downloadable missions in the case we opted for "secret weapon"
starting turn 3 the required defending unit with the engineer skill tries to fire the secret weapon on a successful dice roll. the attacker can only win if they destroy that unit before the weapon can fire-there is no turn limit. attackers deployment is L shaped in the opposite corner from the defenders box deployment. fallshirmjager won the roll for sides and went attacker
A hard fought and close game against the attacking fallshirmjagers
Game 2 for me was breaking out some classics- most of these models are from my first army of 40k from 20 years ago.
Dark angels VS crimson fists. 2k points. we rolled up random table quarters deployment and kill points.
Both of us were having some really bad rolls, but in the end the fists pulled off a win with a 7/5 victory spread.
Hey it is the weekend again! you know what that means
Tonight by request of one of our new players large scale (1/32) WWII thanks to the forces of valor toy line and their free simple skirmish battle system "battle tactics"
Game 1 was bridge assault mission with the soviets attacking german defenders on our saving private ryan table..saved me a lot of time for terrain setup.
The soviet side was running horde tactics with 4 T-34/85 (the scale was just a bit off because i found these cheap 1/35 scale toys) and 5 squads of infantry.
Spoiler:
The defenders position.
Game 2 was a huge game of nearly my entire german force minus the plane VS the american players full force-late war desert battle.
The other tables were enjoying some more star wars legion-
And some specter ops including a tank-
More pics of the WWII game can be found over in the historical wargaming section of the forums.
Big waagh vs "i shut you down" legion of 1st prince. Scenario was vice which was among worst ones for me.
After my turn 4 we called it. Even if bloodthirster fails to kill my warlord(plus whatever kairos does. Like 6 mw to 7 wound guy) i would be 5 vp behind with max 4 i can get.
Crusading against Necrons with my loyalist Death Guard at 1k points. We were squabbling over wandering civilians, the XIV wanted to capture them for medical purposes while the ancients simply desired information about the nearest malls to acquire batteries from.
Incredibly, while the Necrons were filled to the brim with Str 5 AP-2 guns and extra movement, they failed to kill a single unit throughout the game. Even six melee Destroyers only downed four Plague marines before being taken down in return with grenades and psychic might. The stars of the show were my five-man band of terminators, who only lost three models during the game while tanking well above a hundred shots from the gauss reapers. Not for a lack of trying!
Seen here, sergeant Arendt led the charge to destroy a 20 strong warrior phalanx, taking it down to a single skellie.
Which very soon became 14 skellies again...
But yeah, a crushing victory with DG casualties being 2 cultists, 8 marines and 3 terminators versus some 45 warriors, 6 destroyers and their Overlord. Brutal.
Last weeks game of Xwing at my games club, my Jedi squeaked out a narrow win (200-150) over the robots (even with the AMG done stoled my autoblaster cannon)
One year ago today in my Facebook feed: demo in my game room for 9th edition. our terrain hadn't arrived in the mail yet, so there was not enough cover on the board, but they had a blast. Killer bunny from monty python mascot watched all the action.
A Bolt Action scenario set in the Pacific, with a platoon of Marine having to slog through a jungle while dealing with constant ambushes from the Japanese.
Got my ass kicked in ptg. Maybe too overconfident having beaten him twice in row short while ago. Overly aggro t1 and didn't focus on bodies so he had easy time with scenario. And fulminators failing charge(not helped by run of 1 with run and charge) sealed the deal.
Looks amazing. How were you not constantly knocking the trees over?
Oh, we were. But since they were just visual reminders that the green areas of the table were jungle, we moved them around as needed to get the minis through.
By the end it looked like a platoon of lumberjacks had been through!
One of the weirdest endings i have had. To win i had to get my fulminators dead so i'm running around screaming "kill me!!!" And radagast the beast running away. Had to charge this instead and alas killed her losing the game.
A bot pf a DUST marathon tonight..that's what happens when a new army shows up. i played in the first and observed the other 2
Game 1 was scenario -plane crash (in the forest hense all the tree templates)
Mythos VS Allies
135 points
Game 2 was a demo game of Allies VS Axis (mostly) zombies
Game 3 was another run agianst the Axis force with Mythos
That last one was a big reversal. the Axis froce started out really strong, one really good turn with the avatar of Nyarathotep completely turned the game around.
Other games-
i got a quick 500 point game of 5th ed 40K in with Dark angels VS SOB
Last a star wars legion game was also about. apparently the droids took this one by 2 points.
More Guildball this week, only team shots and no pics of in game action as pics very blurry even by my wobbly handed standards but was a mad science showdown, my Alchemists vs Engineers with the cogs eventually triumphing 14-10
Yes it was. I rather lost him t1 setting up countercharges than some others and he had 50-50 to come back alive, last unit killed him, then he came back and reserves came in killing 2 zombie dragons.
By random luck person had seen lotr battle report on youtube and remembering having played it before asked flgs if there's still games on. Staff let me know and today we had first small game going over baslcs. Couple heroes, bunch of basic guys and dweller(didn't use power attacks and forgot monstorous charge) to counter balin a bit.
Looked grim for gobbos for a while but suddenly got couple kills that allowed me to trap guys in melee and dwarf casualties started to pile despite dweller not doing much. Balin was terror but in the end not enough.
Last Sunday, my first game of Warcry. I fielded skaven. My buddies brought nighthaunt and monted chaos knights. We had a triple tie when the game ended.
First round of tournament. Tournament asked for more casual lists so silly drop amount and battletome grand strategy. Keeper survived long enough with belakor that grand strategy failed and that was that.
2nd round, power in numbers. Again failing grand strategy by default, then failed broken ranks, would autofail 1 more, lost objective to blightkings so was in effect 15 vp behind with near zero ways to get to objectives(and no way to get to objective AND take it. Monster vs monster) so white flag.
It was sort of a slow night at the FLGS tonight. some of our regulars were out sick, had real life responsibilities etc... so the late night crowd was down to only about a half dozen players. still we got in-
A continuing specter ops game at the port-
Then we did a 5th ed 4 way kill team iron hands VS black legion VS salamanders, VS tempestus scions
For the last game we got in some more DUST with the-secret weapon- scenario ALLIES VS MYTHOS at 135 points.
Mythos barely won activating the doomsday weapon on turn 5 before the allies could finish them off.
Last game vs fec. They came weirdly aggressive deploying on line, going first and trying broken ranks vs 10 brutes which failed by 2 wounds(close). Worse 3/4 hammers tied in combat and after my turn 2 dead and 1 crippled.
He got priority both round 2 and round 3 but after r3 prio roll we just verified i can score battle tactics and grand strategy which was easy enough tabling him for 28-11 win.
Ptg vs big waagh. We played scenario from sce battletome. Bit odd. Looks like opponent should get guys off board but win condition means you never really want unless you can do with 7+ units and can't table stormcast.
Loss when one flank collapsed and foot sce and cos just can't catch up.
1k TAU VS DARK ANGELS 5th ed house rules 3rd ed DA codex VS 4th ed TAU codex-
Tough battle. all DA vehicles were immobilised or weapon destroyed out of the game save the deathwing dread that got wrecked, all the battle brother fell. only azrael survived the battle.
Spoiler:
B5 wars Star Wars-the big guns. home 1 with escorts breaking out from an imperial ambush by a belator class super star destroyer(with interdictor in tow). -
Blood drinkers vs eldar. First 2k and 2nd game with these.
We wrapped after 3rd round. Was ahead lot and 2 bright lances past inv failing to kill biker captain left open route to score blade of sanquinus. 4/5 objectives on control and eldar few in number i would be winning pretty solidly.
Damn he got to shine and with help of blood tithe managed to turn game and when i passed 4 4+ saves won game(1 out of 3 failing was ok,passing those and failing d6 damage ok 1/3 times).
His kill tally: 2 zombie dragon, 5 blood knights, 20 skeletons, 3 direwolves, lauka vai.
Was feeling totally screwed after t2 but skarbrand carried the day to 39-35 victory in one of the closest and intense games this year i have had.
2 games between blood drinkers and emperors children with polar opposite results. First i crushed 86-39. Then we both switched lists(premade) and scenario and both worked his favour. Vindicator was unstoppable nightmare and slaanesh strike first was giving me headaches. After round 3 i would have max 15vp if chaplain survives and he was already clocking over 60 after his t4.
First game with cities of sigmar(settler's gain) vs thunder lizards. Close fought game. He gave me double t2 but effect wasn't that big and gave me trouble deciding do i give return double or allow him to burn objective but 3 monsters hitting my lines was eck. Turn 4 big thing was can my general(anointed on phoenix) survive or not. If yes game won, if not game is on. He died and didn't heal back on 4+. T5 i literally had no battletactic i could score. He needed to kill my battlemage, take center objective, kill lone handgunner and get sentinels down to 4 or less(no longer wizard denying grand strategy). He did all that...damn slann!
20-20 vp, battletactics even, neither got grand strategy, pure draw O_o
3 games vs father and his sons. First ogor vs kruleboy. With just 2 of his heroes left he won 35-25. Next vs other son gloomspite vs ironjaw. Got lucky break when mangler boss managed to kill megaboss. He still had chance with hand of gork but failed. 27-25.
Last game vs father cities of sigmar vs soulblight. I got priority on turn 3 forcing him to take double which more or less decided game. I held on 2 objectives body blocking to my home objective so he couldn't get there where 20 crossbots were peppering enemy and evocators were killing stuff. 30-23 win.
One we have not played in a while-castles in the sky
And something you do not see very often-the original set of Schaffers last chancers joining in a kill team game against marines with "hero" managing to tie the game by being a hero
Our first game of This is Not a test. A cannibal gang faced off against some Esch... I mean Raiders. While I technically did not play in that game, I did my best to annoy both players, look up rules and take photos ... table, the cannibal gang and motivation courtesy of one lord_blackfang
Adria is our national Airliner ... but it recently went bankrupt, so it's ok ...
Pops and Maw Maw, the leaders of the gang
Petunia and some .. cousins?
Dr. Crackpot might be a few test tubes short of a full drawer, but he's never let that deter his daily field visits of the "patients" in need of a lobotomy ... the whole family are sworn vegans - wouldn't touch anything that technically isn't a plant.
An easter egg/hommage to another postapoc game our group likes very much ...
Helga of the raider gang standing on some truly impassable terrain
First game of WMH in quite some time, Circle vs Cryx, minimal terrain, no objectives due to rusty rules know wot, didn't get to a result before home time...
Blood drinkers vs death guard. My t2 was catastrophically bad with crawler soaking melta at ease and 10 dreadnought fist, 1 force halberd and 5 attacks from chaplain with rr for hit and wound and dam4 did grand total of 4 damage. All 10 fist attack at 3+ missed...noooo!
Middle of his t4(he went first) i calculated he will be quaranteed 66 plus no prisoner and short of him stopping killing me and walking out of objectives i'm at 51 and max 15 primary to score so he wins with no prisoner by just sitting at objectives.
Crusade campaign continues with my Echoes of Eisenstein pushing the attack on the Tau who had previously been put on the run, now intercepting their supply drops. Good game which could have gone either way before the end, as my Contemptor failed to put a dent on the Broadsides which in turn destroyed it immediately but the sheer doggedness of my terminators carried the day once again in the end. While Captain-Commander Erasmus, the terminator lord, was an absolute boss and refused to die while being bombarded with meltas, Breachers, Riptide relics and whatnots (remaining at one wound after turn 2 until the end ), my favorite moment was still when my witch, Magister Hektor, managed to kill the Coldstar Commander first by smiting it near death and then exploding in a warp implosion, taking the commander with him when he tried to buff himself up for a charge (rerolling a 12 into a 2 on the psychic test, it was meant to be...)
Blood drinkers vs wolves. Both armies wanting same but him bit better, i chose blade of sanguinus out of principle and his shield dreadnought stopped me in track. We called it after my 3. Center totally his which doomed my secondaries and primary i was relegated to home objective. 40-82.
I have gotten spoiled by 3d printing now with my terrain purchases, the hard foam stuff was a neat idea but unless you have a place to store it and transport it safely it can get scratched and gouged up
Blood drinkers vs new players orks. Orks got kills big time but sanguinary guard, blade veterans and librarian dreadnought blocked road to key objective in center long enough i won 66-44. But my army was more or less spent.
First outing of pure kruleboys vs slaves to darkness. Narrow win at 30-29...
Picture at round 3 when i triggered kruleboy waagh that saw death of spider cultists, all but 3 marauders, fomoroid crusher and last 3 chaos knights before he got to activate completing kruleboy specific battle tactic take dat ya sucker.
Triumph & treachery aos style. First stormcast vs khorne and ironjaws. Got rid of bt&daemon prince but archaon tore through my army and ij. Khorne win.
Round 2 slaanesh joined into fray and i switched to kruleboys. Early game i was largely ignored shooting some slaanesh that was fighting khorne. I used all sorts of tricks against khorne like running boltboys toward middle and on slaanesh turn asked him to select khorne as enemy. Used dirty trick card to shoot 5mw to archaon which helped slaanesh to kill archaon!
More dirty tricks used to kill bloodthirster and daemon prince and gutrippas took down slaanesh staff. Sludgeraker then got to center objective along with gutrippas securing win for orruks.
Started playing Age of SigmarRng in a grow league. First round (750 pts) and Savage Gains was a complete nightmare, due to many others having 750 at the point. Second round (1k points) I managed to pull a win against flying dwarfs with 2 Kraken Eaters (Bosses of the Stomp, Magnificent, Amulet ov Destiny, Arcane Tome, Krakenskin Sandals) With his bad dice luck, I just mostly ended up chasing his Ironclad and setting up on the middle objective as it became available. Next games will be against Sylvaneth with HurdurDurthu and Space Marines with Swirly Marine Prime.
Also, props the the amazing Ironclad color shift paint base.
My group played our annual Tanksgiving game on Sunday. Scaled up Gaslands in order to use our 40K vehicles. Each team had a vehicle and a bike. Good fun, especially when the two Ork players decided to immediately cause a three car pile up right out the gate.
Khorne vs be'lakor. Shouldn't have headed for combat. 1st prince army outduels easily if i expose so sit behind screens on objectives.
We called it on his t3(i gave him double) when bt caused 12mw bomb killing 6 units in one go. 10 bloodletters, 22 reavers and slaughterpriest vs near full strength be'lakor army.
Actually, everyone was surprised they were smaller than looked to be.
My Balin’s Tomb arrived yesterday, so I had so time. I really like the fact that plastic terrain fits perfectly. The game itself is “I activate all of my goblins, then you activate all of your heroes and try to survive for 12 turns”. Goblin dice are more gak, but they have the numbers. Some FAQ might be in need as well. I would’ve loved more, had they produced a game with the very basic MESBG ruleset instead.
Well things did not go as planned tonight because we were mising some peopel so we played some off the cuff games-
First off, the flames of war group were doing a huge double battle progression game starting outside the city-
And eventually they ended up fighting here-
We ended up doing a 6 player solaris match (the light mech in the background is actually not in the game), a marauder is out of the shot and the last mech died to a head hit on turn 2)
Last was a continued campaign game of specter operations modern combat.
Got some games of Grimdark Future in with my armies and terrain! At the moment, mostly doing Crimson Fists vs. Necrons to teach my colleague how to play, hoping to expand out into more factions later!
Both games were victories for my friend controlling the Crimson Fists, the Land Raider was just a really tough nut to crack! Really pleased with the visuals of the terrain I've been crafting for the last two years and finally getting to use it!
Blood drinkers vs krieg. Secondaries went my favour big time and 10 dreadnoughts proved too much for him to chew through. 2 super flamer tanks were less scary with damage halved. 71-35
All dread list been my dream since 2000(story of group of dreadnoughts vs over 100 ork walkers in wd during armageddon is what got me hooked on 40k). Having bought bunch of marines 2nd handed got closest ever to that dream at 10.
Note this was league game and by the time i submited list i didn't know my opponent and now i'm stuck with list until i lose(you can only change list if you lose in this league) so not only i couldn't list tailor going heavy vs 1 list isn't best of ideas and yes now i'm stuck with this list for next round. Wonder what comes my way. Hopefully not the white scars with bazillion th/sh jump pack marines...
Weapon loadout was also largely on what i had available. Only options i had was multi melta or assault cannon on one contemptor(multi melta. Only ranged at on dreads beside furioso meltaguns) and 1 or 2 volkites on other(went with 1 plus chain weapon. Which actually worked out great. Sure atm twin volkites is big boogey man but the 1 i had didn't seem that useful vs ig infantry and 2+ save tanks while yet another fist was great seeing my at was largely dreadnought fists).
Oh and one of the furiosos is good old metal model. Assembling that one was fun.
Btw despite loss mvp of game had to be tank commander that single handedly took down 3 dreadnoughts plus bunch of infantry by himself. Held one quarter alone by himself and gave me scares. Two 8" rerolled charges failed to get at it.
My dreads were: 2 lib dreads, reqular assault cannon/fist, contemptor w/fist & assault cannon, contemptor w/volkite and chain fist, 2 furioso w/twin fist, furioso w/frag cannon, death company w/twin talons and redemptor w/heavy onslaught and heavy flamer.
I have so many Dreads that I don't know how many I have unbuilt. I own at least 2 Libby/Death Company Dreads - maybe even 3, again, all unbuilt - but I don't play Blood Angels.
Well for the siege list you can only use ironclads or siege variant dreads for your dread talons, so it was kind of required. the fact they were good in 5th didn't hurt either.
First outing with nearly all mounted bonesplitter force. Scenario played to my strategy while being poor for him and my plan worked nearly flawlessly and with him failing couple keyrolls after 2 rounds i was 11-0 ahead. In the end won 22-15 despite getting tabled(round 5 started with 3 models totaling 5 wounds left )
Bonesplitters worst orcs in new orc battletome but if there's something they can do it's push into enemy deployment zone to keep them there for a while.
Playing around with Kill Teams. I don't (yet...) have another Unification team, so enjoy some Crusade era imagery instead as the XIV legion runs into trouble while cleansing a non-Imperial human civilisation.
Aos tournament over. Lost vs tournament winner(and guy who previously won with sylvaneth bringing them as handicap) but won vs stormcast and beast of chaos. Bonesplitter waaagh prevented broken ranks both times.
Mega gargant was doing okay but nothing spectacular but monstorous takeover was handy.
Sadly, my planned game of warmachine didn't happen as my opponent forgot his stat cards.
On the menu tonight-
The continuing specter ops campaign visits an abandoned train station with an above ground and subway section.
First we did a quick 1v1 5th ed kill team game where i broke out a brand new 30K legion kill team using my mantic forge fathers dwarves fighting schaffers last chancers.
Next up was a rather large DUST 1947 game-
Operation titan at around 205 points.
While that was happening one of our veteran players was teaching some classic battletech to some new players with a clan star VS 2 IS lances.
Another game of Grimdark Future, Space Marines vs Necrons. I made a fairly "mirrored" board because my opponent is still learning and I wanted him to have less to worry about in terms of picking sides and stuff. We're trying out objectives. Good game, objectives made for a much more interesting and dynamic game than our previous "just try to wipe the other side out" game. I thought 4 rounds would be too short, but it actually felt about right.
Really pleased with my modular rocky crag terrain, I gotta say. Adds a lot to the game but is really playable at the same time. It's just foamboard carved up in layers with some acryllic filler with baking soda and sand for texture, but I also put a few spherical magnets in the top and bottom layers, basically 1 in each 3" square area, and that makes them stick to each other so they're really stable in play and don't slide around or anything. Probably my favourite bit of terrain I've ever made.
The last games of the year-as Christmas day falls on our normal game night.
We started out the night with our recent new player who is getting back into 5th ed 40K with his tau, and he had all sorts of new shiny to try out as we gave him the rules for the hazard suits and the tetra scout speeder. the games were at 2k points.
Game 1 was a battle for the king of the hill (center objective) against a guard armored company
So just so everybody is clear-4th ed tau codex base VS 3rd ed CA guard armored company list within the 5th ed rule set.
He got a second game in-kill points VS the 3.5 iron warriors army.
We spent a load of time discussing setting up a classic battletech campaign, so the only other game was a quick 75-point infantry battle for DUST so i could give the winter sold...er child his first run on the table.
3 games vs frieed and his 2 sons. First sons ironjaw gets his first win vs me as he crush my khorne. Next cow heavy lumineth wins vs kruleboys but we forgot tons of orc rules. Finally my nearly all mounted bonesplitter army loses 29-30 vs dad's new nurgle.
They are from a superhero line called Superfigs. Five figures are sold in a pack as henchmen. One is separate as the boss Devils Knight. Old Glory has them in their online store but I got mine from ebay.

Ouch CCS you never want to see an HS 129 rolling in on your armor like that.
Just a few updates tonight, i will give a more detailed report in the appropriate forums after i get some sleep
first my khador VS circle with the storm crow. a very close game i was running Sorcha 1 and she got taken down to 4 wounds. i popped her feat at the start of the next turn( i went first) and froze everything in his army save his warcaster (she was just barely out of my control range). between the spriggan and Sorcha i took out the colossal. he conceded.
The Next game i played was a little classic battletech-the purple chicken VS the dragon.
Very close game. at the end i had the grand dragon and the Shugenja left, all he had was the phoenix hawk.
While that was happening on the other table everblight was trying his hands(claws) against some trolls.
Thagrosh getting tossed in front of a circle of troll war beast who had yet to activate, well......
aphyon wrote: Ouch CCS you never want to see an HS 129 rolling in on your armor like that. [/img]
Yeah, that was on turn 1. Welcome to 2022. :(
Fortunately due to missed aircraft rolls, some fighter interception rolls, & good AA fire this thing only had 1 more effective turn through out the rest of the game....
Still, that first turn hurt.
I ran an F28: War Always Changes narrative game for the family, 5th in a campaign.
This involved them foiling a hijacking of an enormous skyliner that they'd initially boarded because it'd get them close to a Genestealer Cult base they needed to infiltrate... then hijacking it themselves due to one of the player's hidden objectives.
Top to bottom we have the cockpit, casino, spa, engine deck (Space Hulk tiles); the cabins deck (Assassinorum tiles); and the cargo hold (game mat). Fighting with the cultist hijackers took place across all three levels, then in true videogame style the players had to get to the turrets to fend off two fighter-bombers carrying more cultists and strafing the engines.
Played remote alpha strike on Sunday night. First time we tried vehicles instead of mechs only. Helicopters move like hummingbirds and are super hard to hit. Lots of fun and lots of learning.
I take it you have looked through his shop. i love all the EU ships, unfortunately B5 wars doesn't have rules for some of the stuff i would love to play like the Mandalorian cruisers. they do have all the hapan rules as well as the vong.
I had him print me out the 14" belator class SSD. love that thing.
2nd game of the year. Gloomspite vs nurgle. Gulp. Luckily opponent ran out of battle tactics t5 so 21-20 win when we looked and found he can score no battle tactic so i get win automatically unless he rolls 2 4+ disease rolls to kill mangler for a tie.
However post game i realized if he gives me double i win by 2 vp's(21-19) 75% times(ie when mangler doesn't die) but this way he opens bring it down bt...so on that 25% times rather than tie he wins. Neat.
First win ever vs dg. These been lately particular bugger. Scenario(scourging) helped. Was able to control center giving me maxed primaries and maxed stranglehold while zephyrim and arco flagelants cleared one of his objectives twice causing 0 primaries.
68-40.
With 3/3 and tough match ups year started scary good. Tomorrom all mounted bonesplitters might be in for kicking. Luck can't hold forever
All mounted bonesplitters vs skaven in power in numbers. That was like perfect scenario for me. Pictures after deployment and after my t1 charge moves.
I killed like 50 rats. He didn't get double t2, he didn't get verminlord summoned on 6 attempts and mid his t3(he started) we quit. Even if he succeeds he can get 6vp plus t4 & 5 battletactics plus grand strategy. I can just burn all 4(2 completely safe though) ending with 18 plus t4 & 5 bt's and grand strategy(pretty much quaranteed short of 2 vermin lords being summoned).
Waaagh!
4/4 wins this year O_o. Not sure have i ever won 3 games in row.
I had 63 models of which 40 charged into melee right away up against 40 clanrats, 30 stormvermin, 2 bells and some heroes and 2 warpfire thrownrs. All 3 units 1/2 or less after t1 combat.
Good thing bells turn them immune to morale...
He noted afterward 1 clarnrat unit should have been screen for rest. All unlikely to die, rally and counter punch. If he can get double it could be winnable even in this scenario. As deployed in this scenario he needed some serious break including double but as is i was the guy rolling 6's...
edit: Had I realized just how badly this scenario favours me I would have said reroll the dice As it is this matchup is pretty mean matchup...But generally scenario where you can net enough vp's in first 3 turns favours this mounted bonesplitter force as generally turns 4-5 they have very little army left. It's bit of extreme tactic. First 2-3 turns it tries to get vp advantage by locking enemy to place, then it just tries to hang on and do enough BT's to sneak out the win.
Here I could remove objectives making late game comeback hopeless...
Veins of ghur would be lot trickier scenario. Or vice.
Winning streak finally ended. Cities of sigmar vs khorne. If yesterday i got best possible scenario this time it was worst possible at apex predators with just 2 wizards vs 3 khorne monsters and 3 more heroes.
After r2 priority roll we called it as i was going to be 4-12 before my turn with zero leaders so max 11 points to be scorable...think it's safe to say i'm dead
Horrible scenario(for me with these lists) and played like an idiot.
Something like feral foray, power in numbers, marking territory or veins of ghur would be lot better for me.
Ran a couple sessions of a Wild West game using Fistful of Lead Reloaded at the Siege of Augusta convention today. Also did a small demo of same with a guy and his 8 year old son.
Ran a week-long four player kriegsspiel with full fog of war and hidden agendas in our Epic: Kriegsspielmageddon campaign. The secessionist defenders manage to repel the Krieg / Black Templar landings and protect their orbital laser installments with heavy losses.
Most recent game of Guildball against Az13's slippery fish, Shark dished out a 12-4 wupping on the alchemists, and whilst I love GB you can get rusty rather fast (playing oKat is also not good)
2 games that went opposite. First kragnos led gits(mostly trolls) crushed seraphon taking double and effectively tabling army. Then bonesplitters were crushed pretty much equally fast. 1st game exposing too much was fatal' and going first didn't help, game 2 opted to go 1st which was fatal.

2 super fast games(though we played to t5 and figured result) and 2 quick defeats.
First should maybe have played for double heavier but assuming i don't get played so safe was 4vp down. And if i don't get would be in hairy spot anyway. Did get mawkrusha down which was good but trolls got whittled down and wasted grots stupidly forgeting brute rules. Those brutes basically won him game.
2nd game gargants vs kruleboys. Stupidly aggressively played 2nd turn cost me dearly. In the end he won 33-31 last round without even needing to kill my general.
Super busy at the FLGS tonight, didn't even get to all the games we had planned.
We started out the day by helping a convert to 5th edition 40K learn how to have fun again with his blood angels as he is quite fed up with where GW is going with 9th edition, and he only has experience with 8th/9th edition.
He requested we break out our rock quarry tables so the setup is a bit weird but being a jump heavy blood angels list it worked out for him.
game 1 was against my dark angels with 5 objectives. game went to turn 6 and while he didn't kill much of my stuff he managed to win on objectives. 3 to 2
Game 2 he changed up his list a bit and went up against a tau list with 4 mirrored objectives in a custom layout.
this one was a brutal slog with most of both armies getting hurt. he was also trying out a doredeo dread that made an incredible 9 invul saves of 5+ over the battle. the objective score at the end was 5/1 in favor of the blood angels.
the next set of games were a couple 50 point warmachine matches
game 1 was skorne VS crucible guard,
Win for the guard
Game 2 i put my khador up against everblight, always a slog.
Most of my force got wrecked but i managed to barely pull off a caster kill to win this one.
Last battle of the night was some B5 wars star wars conversion-
ISD II/victory VS MC80B, rebel assault ship and 2 corelian gunships.
They are getting a re-match next week with fighter support as the player running the rebels is still learning the game and made a few tactical errors.
More detailed reports and pictures will be going up in the related forum threads i have running for these games.
This week's game session felt like dejavu with a twist,
We had another run of warmachine games-
legion of everblight VS retribution of scyrah at 50 points-
Then it was skorne VS grimkin at 25 points-
Then my khador got some attention with skorne at 50 points-
In between all that i managed to squeeze in a 5th ed 40K game, giving the tau player something other to fight than marines with my 3rd party "admech" army at 2k points.
Finishing the night off with a rematch of the B5 wars Star Wars conversion game, this time with fighter support-
2nd game with fyreslayers. First time vs pure nighthaunt(2 times 2vs game). 18-17 loss but own stupidity cost me as brainfarted monstorous takeover that was easy do. Or aggressive expansion automatic but was hoping to save it later while i still had monster.
Had my first game since November. My club is planning to go to the Canhammer Team Tournament in Ottawa this April, so are starting to practice our armies.
Played my Chaos Knights vs my buddies Grey Knights.

What's a "sensible" layout, anyway?
I am usually the guy setting up the terrain so i take a good amount of care setting up the mats to look like they make sense, fit a certain scenario or are fair to both sides.
I purposely bought specific terrain pieces for my mars mechanicus table to make it look like it fit even if i re-arrange the pieces every now and then.
Another Thousand Sons cult vs my Talos/Cronos coven in our Crusade.
A solid victory for the Sons, but plenty of damage dealt & xp earned on my end.....
Crusading in a four player mash-up. As the Tau and Iron Warriors exchange diplomatic gifts with regards to splitting an Imperial system, the Emperor's Spears launch a desperate attack to cut the head of this snake. Out of nowhere, they are joined in this ambush by the secessionist Echoes of Eisenstein and together the Imperial-adjacent marines destroy the heretic and alien before meaningful bargains are struck.
While the Iron Warriors got a bit of a double-spanking in row from the XIV, they did however discover the famed wisdom of the Panzer of the Lake. Twice they drove their Predator to the shore only to have it blown up by Ancient Hertz' guns, but after all this it did learn to reroll 1's in the future
I like the background for the 4-player crusade game. How did the Emperor's Spears feel about being bolstered by the son's of the XIV Legion?
Ha, thanks. Amusingly, as the scenario was about preventing the surprised force from escaping, I deployed my slower forces at the goal stretch as a counter-punch to catch any quicker Tau suits while the impetuous Spears deployed in a close-by pincer to get stuck in. While this worked tactically brilliantly, it also meant that the Spears got absolutely blasted in the attrition while the Echoes lost no units (I did reave through the enemy position with my teleporting terminator veterans after a minute, so not due to mere hanging back either). The Spears' player realized this a bit late in the game, like waaaait a minute...
While we have common enemies, my bitter ghosts of a more enlightened era will likely soon come to blows with the Spears as well, brain-washed corpse-worshipping lunatics as they are. Imperials these days, seeing enemies everywhere...
Sounds like a really fun game, multiplayer is always great when you accidentatlly wind up in an very advantageous situation much to the chagrin of your ally. Cheers!
Bonesplitters vs kruleboys. Made 2 mistakes and lost priority at rounds 3 and 4 so at start of my turn 4 i had 8 foot orcs left and could score no battletactics. Still there was thin chance to win but gutrippas did exactly enough damage to ensure even if i roll 1 my last battleline runs to battleshock.
Then ogor vs ironjaw. On this extreme matchup round 2 priority was going to be big. Got it, annihilated most of his army and scored 12vp. Then his mawkrusha got stuck in melee and i was able to force double for him which was game over but at least he killed most of my army.
Third game fyreslayers got their first win. Most of my army got grinded down but got to his objective and was able to block his way to my long enough. In the end boiled down to 2 heartguard berserkers survival. Rest of my army formed protective screen though summoned beast of nurgle had 9" rerollable charge and 2 nurglings even longer. If 2 dies nurgle wins on grand strategy tiebreaker. He failed all 3 charge rolls...
First game of Tau, and first game in around a year, against my mate's Custodes, 2k.
Being FSE helped invaluably here, the free Markerlights were a godsend with an up-close army like Custodes.
Highlights include the Hammerhead sniping around 500pts of Characters throughout the game, his Achillus Dread failing the charge due to Repulsor Field and getting pounded by the Stormsurge, and my Onager-Enforcer whiffing all 7 of his 4++ Invulnerables and being cut down by the Shield Captain.
Played a rather silly scenario with a rather silly army list. Fun was had, and most importantly, my Tater Titan was able to take the field.
And at the other extreme we have Thulza Dimm, the weirdest of grots.
And here is half of the army they'll have to fight.
And the Emperor's Blondest demonstrate that boyz don't mean nothin' when everyone in your army can fall back from melee and shoot, and when FRFSRF is an aura buff.
Fyreslayer vs be'lakor. With slayers having 0% winrate in tournaments in this match up didn't dream of win. With double to them hope of more vp's for league tie breaker went. My turns 2-5 was just trying to keep battleline alive for grand strategy that worked. 11-31

Thulza Dimm is an outstanding name for a Grot. Great looking Titan!
In one of the other topics a discussion included the fact that many of our fellow gamers only get one game in a month..... i think i would start having withdrawls.
I got 2 games of DUST in this game night and all this other stuff was going on-
Khorne vs obr. First time since summer 2020 faced them. Feral foray. Opponent surprised me and didn't have catapult so skarbrand had field day doing 48mw in first combat and proceeding to destroy 20 mortek, 4 flying mean melee guys and harvester.
Got to refuse double on r3 helping with primaries and had enough blood tithe at my t3 to summon bloodletters stealing objective sorting battle tactic issue just in time.
Some Drukhari on Drukhari violence.
My Talos/Cronos coven vs a Real Space Raid.
I took plenty of casualties, but for the most part the Raiders stayed hunkered down, and died, in/behind the ruins - forgoing virtually any practical chance of victory.
2 games vs kruleboys. First with fyreslayers. Lost due to running out of battletactics and screwing order. I had effective strategy on primaries but 2 failed bt's by turn 4 and nothing realistic for t5 plus 2 dead monster too much.
Game 2 i got double t2 but had to give up anyway. Had no tool vs kragnos and it plus 3d6 charging troll and sneaky bruteboss wiped floor with my army.
League game vs mice. End result vas 22 to 23, due to him having painted models. It could've gone way more into my favor, had I managed ("managed" by rolling 3 instead of 2, lolol) to destroy his skaven hole in my deployment t1 (battle tactic + deny to later port in, capture and burn). Also, I would have been able to control the pace if it wasn't for the double turn 'mechanic', which resulted in me having only one priority for whole 5 rounds. But, hey, it's Age of RNG, after all.
