I'm not sure I like them. Those Pig Iron heads and trenchcoats remind me of Soviets circa 1946. Stalin was a monster. This is just so not cool.

Great models.
The tanks look really nice and the traitor feel is perfect, not too overstated like often happens to traitor guard.

The only thing I'd criticise is the paint scuffs, there's not really any need for the black base. Other than that good work.

I've been thinking of doing this with my IG. Are the heads easy to put on? The ones with masks?
Very nicely done, by the way.

This is all good stuff, I really like the style and the hard-edged camouflage on the vehicles. I think the weathering and the rust on the tracks is great. The one thing I don't like is the rust on the air intakes on the Russ, and some of those really bright rust spots in other areas.
I think the color of the rust is spot on - it definitely looks like real rust. I just think you overdid it a bit (especially on the air intakes where some of the detail is filled in). I think a less is more approach is better here, especially because the rust really stands out against the relatively clean paint job on the rest of the model.

noted, but the brighter rust is in areas where the alloys being used arent rust resistant (in the case of the intakes and engine grill), where the metal is being exposed through wear/moving parts (the road wheel anchors), or where theres alot of water/moisture built up (around the engines, heavily indented crannys etc)
if you ever get a chance to look at an old knocked out tank you'll see there are areas which gain alot more rust than others

I understand why the rust is there, and it's a good idea that will help tie together the more "realistic" style. I'm not saying lose the rust and I'm not saying change the color - I'm saying keep it, just lighten up the coverage a bit. In some spots (like the air intakes) it's so heavy that it looks like orange liquid instead of rust, primarily because it has filled in a bit of the detail on the edge of the air intakes, which gives an otherwise top-notch paint job a flaw that sticks out. It's one of those things that will look totally awesome when you get it just right, but right now it's just slightly too much, and it's somewhat bothersome.

And if you don't mind, how did you do the rust, as well? I do think it looks like a method with a lot of potential.

thanks, no worries
I take a base color - in the case of these snot green, paint the whole item in that. then take 2 parts green, 1 part white and paint a diagonal half of the gem in that, let it dry, then take 1 part white 1 part green, paint a smaller protion inside that area, dry, 2 parts white, 1 parrt green , paint smaller area inside that, then finish it off by adding a fleck of white inside that, and putting a spec of white on the opposite side of the gem. Did that make sense to anyone else?

I use the tamiya weathering kits, add water to the pallete, apply, and let gravirty work it's wonders. Unlike painted, watered pigments settle very realistically.

Just have to put in my two cents. This is absolutely beautiful!!! Great woirk all around. I wish I could critique it, but the only problem I can find with your Renegadez is the fact that they are so damn good... and that makes me envious!!! Seriously great colors and great execution. My traitors are alot further along the "mutated freaks" road than your awesomely painted renegadez and as much as I love my mutants... your stuff is far superior to my work in every way.
Now just PM me your home address so I can have you eliminated
Keep the pics coming!

essentially they are a set of three different base pigments you can apply in a number of different ways whether it be by rubbing on or adding water. great for, smoke, rust and mud

I love the heads on the Cadians- it very much seperates your army from the standard GW guard armies, but I dislike the real WWII guns. They don't fit in with the heroic scale of 40k. It's cool that you're going to use the FW autoguns but I hope you plan on switching over the machine gun guys above to them too. At least that's what my estetic tastes would dictate.
