Thanks guys. More pics of the Steam Tonk coming soon. He’s really coming on with lots of detailing. Balloon Tonk too. But in the meantime. An idea is forming for Tonk number 8.
Amazing project theCrowe! The gribbly tonk is spot on. Loving Robo-Rex and hoping you paint him up like Rex from Toy Story. The mini-Russ is a perfect tonkified rendition. But Percy the Daemon Tonk Engine is perfect! I know the classic daemon engine would be red, but I hope you keep him green!
Also, the 40+ me thinks they’re all SOOO COOL! Only Hedgee joining in could make it any better! thumbsup:

And yes a classic daemon engine would be red and so it will be. Khorne doesn’t do green.
I’m also delighted with how the Mini-Russ has turned out, and the classic 90s box art livery really sells it.

Yes, there does appear to be a bit of a 40k streak running through some of these. I’ve got a Russ, a grot tank, a khornate demon-engine and something gribbly enough to almost be a nid. (With actual nid parts attached)
Now so long as my techno-Rex doesn’t turn into some kind of Space Slaan I think I’ll be holding onto some small sense of originality. That said it does have two old heavy bolters on the turret.
I have been painting too. So two more painted Tonks to show very soon,
Yeah I can see the resemblance. Glad I didn’t do the face bright green though.
Final parts of the Techno-Rex build are completed.
Time to paint this Dino up and then it’ll be time for a holiday knockout tournament with all 8 Tonks!

Am I understanding you correctly, gobert that you would like to sponsor Percy the Demon Tonk Engine?
All it really means is that when I write up the battle report for a game that he’s in it will be presented with “A message from our sponsors” which can be a link to your blog with a picture of some gleaming Void Panther marines or if you wanted to present something in particular you could PM me your sponsorship message.
I’m just trying to start a thing over here that might get some traction and drive a bit of dakka community spirit over the holidays.

“Thanks for joining us for our inaugural match up of the season. Motty the Goblin here, bringing you the action live from our venue tonight in the verdant forests of Tonkland.
There’s chaos in the air and the atmosphere is electric because tonight kitties and gentle goats we have two mighty teams ready to slog it out in our first Tonk-on-Tonk clash. Will it be Gobert the Tonk Engine that will grind the competition beneath the wheel or will Meer_Cat’s Nekomimi Skytroopers rain Death from Above? “
“The Tonks are heading out to take their positions. While the teams make their last minute preparations we’ll have a quick message from our two sponsors. “

And as the whistle sounds the Tonks move forward. Keeping low and behind the trees the neko-dirigible positions it’s turret to engage as the infernal demon-engine shows no regard for such caution and plows through the gate accelerating full steam ahead.
But the Meer_Cat crew are in position and ready to pounce. Bravely presenting their broadside to the enemy they open the scoring in style. First shot first blood to the Neko-mimi.
The bull-horned beast responds in kind but his shot goes wide of the mark. Wasting no time to stop and reload the infuriated Tonk-engine continues his aggressive advance at ramming speed. But the neko-girls too have their claws out and manage another hit on the advancing engine. Gobert the Tonk then takes a poke in the eye for a third hull point down but in the clash manages to score a first point on the board for team gobert making it 3-1.
The fighting is up close and deadly now as the Tonks begin a dance of death, each manoeuvring for any advantage. With a Reverse, Reload and Fire gobert somehow manages to miss the broadside of the zeppelin at close range. The supporters in the stands can’t believe it.
Seeing their chance the cat-ladies let him have it with two barrels. Now Gobert the Tonk Engine is on fire!
But he’s not out of the fight yet. Gobert throws it into reverse and yes, it looks like they’ve had an explosion in the firebox but they’re shovelling the burning detritus out of the crew compartment and into the bushes as they line up for another shot on the broad side of the dirigible.
And this time it’s a hit! And it looks like it’s caused some real damage too. The right wing of the airship is hanging useless now. They’re going to have some difficulty in manoeuvring from now on.
Still slogging it out at close range the shots are coming thick and fast with each Tonk pounding hard, it’s point for point with barrels smoking. Look out Lambert! The advancing Tonk Engine almost crushed the match official there, and is now smoking heavily down to his last hull point.
It’s 5-3 now, gobert with the taller mountain to climb but still aggressive as ever the brave little engine still thinks he can. With a resounding crash he drives hard against the airship in a death or glory attack.
But it’s only the third point of damage the kitties have sustained, and wing damage or not, up this close it doesn’t take much manoeuvring to line up the killing blow to finish the job, and take home the victory for team Meer_Cat.
“So there you have it folks. A solid 6-3 win for the Neko-mimi. But then Khorne cares not from whence the blood flows so maybe that’s a win-win.
I’m here with some of the fans going wild for this early victory.
“Can you tell me what means for you to be here tonight?”
“Meaow meaow! Meeeeeeeeaow!”

The Thoth Askari engineer corps supported by their friends from Forgeworld Bagwa join the fray sponsoring the little rocket tank. The innovative design just convinced the Askari Auxiliary especially since they love treat fethers and other missile launchers and the Bagwa Priest are always happy to see some crazy combinations of tech.
The sponsor team might be a bit light on the finances side and not possess technical marvels like Mars but they definitly have the spirit and are good sports in win and loss
