Hmm, three new challengers. We may have to go by order of entry and have Pyroalchi Vs Olthannon.

KidCthulu will have to wait to see who comes next to challenge the Mighty-Mini-Russ.

Excited to get stuck in to another match. The Askaris of Thoth vs Forge World Labrunnia Ix. Or something like that. We’ll how the messaging goes.

I love both the gribbly horror and the Tekno-Rex. This stuff is cool. Even though I don't fully understand it, I feel like I should sponsor the Rekno-R3x since the very first post on my blog was converting a dinosaur toy. Keep the cool battle reports coming

That’s great, thanks Syro_.

So the third heat will be Mini-Russ Vs Tekno-R3X

Leaving the fourth heat The Gribblemeister Vs The GreatPumpkin whenever we get some sponsors.

The tournament is taking shape rightly.

Isn’t that where the Battleship Potonkkin sank?

Next battle, Organ Tonk vs Rocket Tonk will be played tomorrow night.

Spread the word, if anyone else wants to get their support in. The last two available contenders are the Gribbler and the Great Pumpkin.

Cheers gobert. Glad you enjoyed the match even though your Tonk was beaten. I’m hoping to do a wooden spoon battle royal for all the Tonks that don’t make it to the final so Gobert the Tonk Engine will ride again at some point.

In the meantime, I have the next battle report almost written up. Any sponsorship message content that you’d like to included you can still PM me before the post goes up. But I’m excited to get this one out soon. It was a great battle!

Thanks for joining us again today for the second heat in this hotly contested Tournament of Tonkdom.
Motty the Goblin here and today we are hosted in Tonklands largest hive New Tonk City where Team Olthannon’s Organ Gun toting Scrap yard creation is facing off against the Deadly Duke’s of the Desert Team Pyroalchi

The Underhive Arena here is buzzing with anticipation and the crowd is already starting to get edgy. Lots of support for both of our challengers here today, as it’s an Admech Vs Votan showdown. However there appears to be some dispute within the fan base over one of the Tonks with both the Dwarfs and the grots claiming support for Team Olthannon’s Organ Tonk. Will the crude stylings of a Grot-style rust-bucket coupled with the excellence of Dwarfish gunnery engineering be a winning combination? Or will the Admech’s Rocket-toting tank-hunter prove hotter than desert sand and twice as deadly?

The Tonks are moving into position so while they complete their final checks we’ll have a message from our sponsors.

Ho ho ho! Fythuwald here!

We at the Cooperative are proud to sponsor such a mighty multi-barrelled vehicle. A specialty ale is being brewed for the inevitable victory. Honky Tonk Porter will be widely available to all fans, far and wide. Our Cooperative vessels are ploughing the space waves to bring delicious alcohol for the simple trade price of all your minerals and ores.

Check out our Hold at # Olthannon's Oscillating Orchard of Opportunity #

In orbit you'll find the Explorator Fleet of Xantheos Lazarin and The Knights of Fey space marines chapter. There's something for everyone so come on down! "

We here at Forgeworld Bagwa are experts in armoured warfare. Our new Rocket Tonk is but the latest in a long line of specialised armoured assault vehicles currently on deployment with the 2nd Thoth Askaris

The mighty Hyppogryph Kiune

and the nimble Pegasus "Nahisisa"

are but two examples of our unique creations. We are confident that our specially designed Rocket Tonk will prove itself the superior machine.

“Thanks to both teams, lots there to get your Tonk-loving teeth into. Now, both challengers are in position, it’s over to tonight’s Match Official Commissar Felix Krach to blow the starting whistle.”

As the engines roar the Tonk drivers have their first decision to make. The Olthorgan Tonk traversing along the outside while the Rocket Wagon takes the plunge into the heart of this maze of an arena.

Team Pyro have found a perfect ambush position now and as the yellow Honky Tonk emerges they open fire with a savage volley of rockets.

First Blood to team Pyro with Commissar Krach scoring that as not just one but two hull damage points! A definite statement of intent for the opening shot of the match.

Electing to bring this match-up to close quarters team Olthannon, their heads still ringing drive forward at ramming speed.

But the boys on Forgeworld Bagwa have done their engineering homework and it’s only rusty yellow armour plate hitting the deck here with Krach scoring that a further hull point against team Olthannon.

The grots in the crowd are spitting furious contempt at referee here but he’s got the rule book in hand and won’t hear any calls for a recount. It’s 3-0 to team Pyro in the early rounds of this matchup.

But what’s this? The Rocket Wagon is driving up the crowd access ramp and onto the gantry way! Is that allowed?

The Dwarfs in the crowd seem to be engaged in some heated debate on the matter but Commissar Felix Krach is checking the rule-book and… Yes! He rules that, “When a ramp has been deployed all players are obliged to use it to enhance the entertainment value of the game.” Askari supporters are gathering around the vehicle now heedless of potential incoming fire as the Rocket Tonk takes a commanding position above the stricken Olthorgan Tonk.

But the crew in the grounded Tonk have seen the danger and also the opportunity here. They waste no time in manoeuvring for a shot but step on the gas and proceed to the bottom of the ramp, now threatening the rear of the perhaps overconfident Askaris.

Now we seem to have both Tonks up on the gantryways heading for an aerial clash. The Askaris keeping the height advantage move into a firing position first but their targeting system must be confused by all the scrap metal around and they shot goes awry.

Now the Organ gun fires off a close range volley into the side of the Askari machine putting a point on the board for team Olthannon at last. A tremendous below or support goes up from the chorus of Dwarfs on the opposite gantryway as the driver powers up the ramp for a T-Bone Ram! That’s a second hit closing the gap to 3-2.

It’s all too much excitement for the grots in the crowd as something of a riot has erupted. One of the grots has hijacked a vintage display racer and has run over Felix Krach! The Match official is down!

But don’t worry folks, the Dwarfs have picked up the Referee’s copy of“Die Einsatzregeln für Panzerkämpfe” and are busy translating it into Khuzdul as the Tonk battle carries on regardless with yet another decisive hit on the Rocket Tonk evening the odds now with the new Dwarf officials calling it 3 apiece!

It’s all to play for as the melee continues here at NewTonk City Area. The joyriding grot having left the ref in his dust has made a move against the supporters of opposing team.

It’s descending into a real slobberknocker down here.
That’s right folks, Motty the Goblin commentator, reporting live from the front line where there are already more bodies down on the arena floor than there are Tonks!

But the shells still flying over my head have just put Team Olthannon into the lead after clawing back a massive 3-0 deficit to make it 3-4.

But it’s a short lived lead as the aggressive Rocket Tonk powers through the crowd on the attack evening up the score before colliding with an almighty crack.
The Orangutan down in the Bagwa control bunker is throwing a hissy fit and yes, a look to the Dwarf judges confirms that it appears the crack was the Askari machine taking another point of damage. And the crew in the Organ Tonk are wasting no time in capitalising on their newly gained momentum. In a surprise move they throw it into reverse and launch themselves back down to the area floor, amazingly avoiding damage, the bodies below providing something of a soft landing.

It’s neck and neck now with 4 points each as the Organ Tonk takes a shot from the floor which seems to have left the Rocket Wagon reeling. It’s engine has flooded and conked out.

The dwarfs have come ringside here to get a better view of the unfolding action. As the Askaris work to restart their engine and bring their guns to bear but the Organ Gunner has stolen the initiative reloading and firing again! Another volley into the exposed flank of the stricken Tonk taking the 6th and final point of damage and claiming an incredible come-back victory for team Olthannon.

I’m here with the fans celebrating a big win after an absolute corker of a clash. Dwarfs and Goblins apparently celebrating together. Still none the wiser on who’s crewing that Tonk, but apparently it doesn’t matter. Can you tell me how you’re feeling after that impressive come-back victory?”

“Praise be to þunorslieht, the hammer of the ancestors! The Organ Gun proves it’s worth again. The Brew-Kyn will be busy this night!”

“Praise be indeed. And what about the gobo contingent? There will be fungus ale by the quaggon tonight no doubt?”

“We are da grotz! We are da Grotz! We are da We are da We are da Grotz! “

Well there you have it folks. Team Olthannon through to the semi finals and another big match up just around the corner. Join us again when the Mighty-Mini-Russ of Garrison Alpha will face down the Jurassic jaws of Syro_’s Tekno-Rex. And if your down in the Underhive of NewTonk City tonight the drinks are on Fythuwald.

Glad everyone’s enjoying the show.

The third match-up has been played (not telling who won) but not written up yet.

Syro_ and KidCthulu do send me any sponsor message information you’d like to include when you can.

Also I’m hoping for two more sponsors for the two remaining Tonks. So if anyone out there knows a Nids or Undead player who’d like to be featured give them a nudge and send them over here.
Could be anyone really, doesn’t need to be on-theme, but it does help to make the connection.

I could sponsor the Great Pumpkin with a “Sculpting for the Kids” theme but I really don’t want to be in a position where after asking for lots of participation l’m crowning myself king of the Tonks. Would be a shame.

So help us out. Spread the word. Find us two more sponsors.

And also, have yourselves a merry little Christmas.

This is a beautiful thread mate - you've made some awesome models, introduced me to a new game, given me some ideas on school clubs to run in the new year, and have sparked the hobby bug in me after a long hiatus - I've started to build my own tonks in the last week or so and it's the most fun I've had in yonks.

I don't play either undead or nids - although I did paint a nids kill team for KT18 - but if you can't find a fitting sponsor I'd love to get on board - I am really enjoying reading through the reports.

Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing!

Great news tzurk. Delighted to be spreading the joy of Tonk worldwide. I’ve had a look at your gang of Tonk creations and I’m looking forward to seeing them painted.

I’ll hold out for one more sponsor and allow them to pick which Tonk they want if you’re not bothered with way. In the meantime if you have anything by way of a sponsorship message that you’d like to share PM me. (That goes for Syro_ and KidCthulu too) It’s all about letting folks know what you do and where they can find it.

Getting ready to post the next battle report very soon. And the 4th heat will be played as soon as we get one more hand in the air.

Thanks for another fun Tonk bat rep, theCrowe. I especially enjoyed the driving into the stands and the grot hijacking the vintage car
Congrats to Olthannon and the organ gun tonk.
I'll get working on the sponsorship message, I had wanted to craft something special to show support for the tonk battles, but I'm having less time than I hoped for, and you are doing an amazing job cranking these out.

Exciting to have our final two sponsors for the fourth and final heat!

The Great Pumpkin will be the tzurkTonk Vs Rabid’s Gribbley Horror. Really looking forward to getting that match-up played as soon as I can though it might be next weekend.

In the meantime, KidC hasn’t been well over the holidays but is preparing a special something for this so I’ve been giving them a chance to get that ready before I post the next report.

In anticipation of semi finals I’d ask Meer_Cat and Olthannon to maybe have a think about what they’d like for their messages. This time we’ll keep it simple, maybe just one link to something you want everyone to know about, anything at all, a great hobby YouTube channel you’ve followed for years, a podcast you listen to while painting or a game you wish more people knew about and played. Anything you think we need to know. Sound good?

Another great matchup and another great location! Motty the Goblin joining you here from the Dino-plains of Tonktopia where our third heat is about to get underway.

Today it’s Team Syro_ bringing us the terrifying Tekno-Rex Vs KidCthulu’s Mighty Mini-Russ of Garrison Alpha.
Will the finest Tonk in the imperial arsenal prevail or will the teched-up toy Dino come out on top? The show is about to begin with the piper out there warming up the crowd.

While the Tonks are heading out to their starting positions we’ll have a brief message from our sponsors.

Mighty Mini-Russ sponsored by painter, gamer, and comic artist “Kid Cthulhu" Fortney

Kid Cthulhu's Comics:

“I’m Deff Skulls warlord All da Gubbins and I’m ‘ere to tells ya dat Tekno-Rex is sponsored by Syro's Projects, home of converted toy dinosaurs, and miniature sculpting. Witness what sculpting wonders are possible with Hot Hot Glue, Cold Hot Glue and mind-bendingly terrifyingly hot glue.

“And dats not all, Syro_ is currently building Titans! . Dat’s right, More Than One. He’s a propa BigMek, dat one!”

Thanks for that both teams. The Tonks are in position now and ready to go, but It’s a bit of a circus out here with the wandering dinos being something of an obstruction that the Tonks will have to navigate.

(every 2 turns we D8 scatter all the dinos around the board)

The match official Dr Grotingstone has blown the starting whistle but there seems to be some trouble in the centre of the field. The goblin piper having played the respective anthems of both teams is still piping away. It’s attracting a lot of Dino-attention and the match official is having some trouble clearing them off the field.

The mini-Russ is wasting no time but pressing into the centre on the hunt as the Dino-crowd is dispersed with the help of an orc cheerleader. But Tekno-Rex is hanging back, perhaps lying in wait preparing an ambush.

And it’s bedlam down in the stands already as the security teams attempt to keep the wandering Dinos out of the popcorn without too much success.

Garrison Alpha’s Tonk is settling into position not giving the Rex an easy target to pounce upon.

With both Tonks firing some tentative long range attacks to no avail, it’s a chess game in the opening stages of this matchup.

But seeing an opening and seizing the initiative, the Russ is on the advance, up the outside edge of the arena in an attempt to surprise team Syro_ with an assault from the rear.

Dr Grotingstone is close on hand and scores it a clean hit to put the first point of the match on the board for team KidCthulu.

Now the Tekno-Rex turns and responds with a cracking shot, and grabbing the initiative team Syro_ power forward on the attack at ramming speed and just like that KidCthulu’s early lead evaporates and it’s 2-1 to the Tekno-Rex.

But wait, there appears to be a Garrisson Alpha pit crew on the field. Yes the Mini-Russ is immobilised following that double hammering and they’re working to get the engine running again. It’s close quarters now and the chess match has turned into a fencing dual with both combatants aiming thrusts and dancing around eachother, but it’s team KidCthulu that finds the opening with the Mini-Russ delivering a thunderous shot at close quarters evening up the score and now it’s the Tekno-Rex having mobility issues as the gears begin to grind.

Team Syro_ now also employing some tech support in the form of a Time-Traveling Mouse and his Pizza Chef assistant! Can Sniffy and Cheesy keep this prehistoric pounder from
packing up? And can the Garrison Alpha crew keep the Leman-Russ from becoming a Lemon-Russ?

The manoeuvring and close quarters gunnery continues but the Rex has lost his temper now and is coming in swinging with a devastating slam that must have ruptured the fuel lines of the stricken Russ.

The crew manage a desperate shot as they beat out the flames but their shell sails wide of the mark.

But what’s this, a wandering Dino has stumbled right into the melee inadvertently breaking up the fight.

Now both Tonks are electing to put a little distance between themselves and their opponent as this flaming hot match-up continues.

Motty the Goblin here live from the Dino Plains as the smoke still hangs thick on this hotly contested battlefield.

After some intense close quarters brawling both teams have retreated to regroup. The Score is 3-2, team Syro_ holding the slender lead. It’s all to play for as the Mini-Russ makes the first move, emerging from cover and taking their shot. The Rex returns fire at the fleeting target but neither Tonk has any success.

Closing the distance now it’s Team Syro_ on the attack with a spectacular shot through the dense foliage. And Yes! Some serious damage inflicted there. It looks like the right track on the Mini-Russ is coming off! That’s going to seriously hamper their movement from now on.

The Mini-Russ’ flanking manoeuvre too is halted as the way ahead is blocked.

Beset on all sides now by wandering dinos the damaged Mini Russ somehow manages to turn to face the incoming fire.
The Rex smells blood and is closing in for the kill with another heavy blow widening the lead to 5-2.

But team KidCthulhu are as dangerous as a cornered tiger and facing the enemy the broken track is no hinderance. With only one Hull point remaining their fighting spirit is on full display as they close the gap to close quarters firing true and risking it all with a potentially game-ending Ram!

But Luck is shining upon the miniature machine and Dr Grotingstone awards two massive points for KidCthulu making it 5-4.

Sniffy and Cheesy are working overtime now, to keep the Tekno-Rex in running order. But seeing their chance they throw the Tonk into reverse and square up for a killing blow into the side of the ravaged Russ.

The totalled Tonk brews up in a spectacular display, the shards of flying debris narrowly missing the triumphant Tekno-Rex.

What a spectacular finale to another cracking good match here in the Dino-plains where Dinosaurs really do rule the earth.

“Joining me here at the end of this Jurassic Jamboree, it’s Sniffy and Cheesy. Can you tell me about your winning Tekno-Rex creation? What inspired you?”

“I’d seen some Orks do something similar with a Stegosaurus once so I knew it was possible.”

“And what flavour is the pizza?”

“I call it Flaming Hot Tonk-mato and Dinoroni.”

Well there you have it folks. Join us again soon for more edible Tonk delights as the Gribbely Horror attempts the haunted Biomass challenge of the Great Pumpkin. All to play for in our final heat of the tournament.

Yeah, I’m glad some of them got in the way a couple of times and made a bit of an impact on the game, though there were quite a few that scattered away off throughout the battle who could’ve made a big difference if they’d gone a different direction. It was a very fun little map gimmick.
